The space
ABOUT THE TRAIN & ATMOSPHERE:
Our home is located in close proximity to a vibrant railroad line, which has long been part of San Antonio’s history and character. For some guests, the passing trains add a bit of nostalgia and atmosphere - a reminder of the city’s roots and the role railways played in shaping downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. From the deck, you can even watch the trains go by, which many guests (and our kids!) have found very enjoyable.
The neighborhood is designated as a "Quiet Zone", meaning trains do not routinely sound their horns unless there’s an emergency. That said, because of our proximity to the tracks, you may still hear trains pass, particularly when spending time outdoors, and occasionally inside the home. The sound is typically brief, and part of everyday life in this area.
We want to be fully transparent so you can decide if this is the right fit for your group. To help minimize any impact, we’ve installed noise-reducing curtains in all bedrooms and provided smart speakers for white noise. We’ve also included an aerial photo in the listing showing the home’s proximity to the tracks, along with additional details under the 'Train & Train Noise Information' section below.
Our family lived here for over a year with our two small children, and while the trains were noticeable at times, they never disrupted our day-to-day life. In fact, our youngest loved standing on the porch and watching them roll by! That said, we understand some guests may be more sensitive to their presence, including light sleepers, so we encourage anyone with concerns to reach out before booking - we’re always happy to answer any questions!
ABOUT THE HOME:
This is our second Airbnb, and we’re incredibly excited to share it with our guests! We lived in the home ourselves before hosting so we could thoughtfully design it around what actually makes a stay comfortable, fun, and stress-free, especially for families and groups.
Below is a detailed walkthrough of what you can expect, starting outdoors and moving inside.
BACKYARD & OUTDOOR SPACES:
We know how important outdoor spaces can be in San Antonio, so we went all in!
The backyard features a private in-ground pool, fully fenced with a child-proof gate, along with plenty of lounge chairs and pool toys. In addition to the pool area, there are three distinct outdoor spaces designed for both play and relaxation:
- A high-quality putting green (putters and balls provided), perfect for friendly competition!
- A deck lounge with outdoor seating, TV, propane fire pit, and BBQ grill
- A great vantage point to watch the trains pass (a fun bonus for train enthusiasts!)
We also maintain regular pest control and provide insect-repellent spray for added comfort.
INDOOR AMENITIES:
The home is just under 1,400 sq ft, with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, with an open layout that feels spacious without feeling overwhelming.
Inside, you’ll find:
- A 75" 4K TV paired with an LG Meridian surround sound system and Dolby Atmos - great for movie nights or music
- Xbox Series X/S with Game Pass Ultimate (access to 100+ games, including new releases and classics)
- A wide selection of board games, card games, and group-friendly entertainment
- High-speed fiber internet (up to 1,000 Mbps), ideal for streaming or remote work
KITCHEN, DINING & COMFORT:
We paid special attention to the kitchen and dining areas, knowing how important they are for families and longer stays.
The kitchen is fully stocked with quality pots, pans, utensils, and cookware, and the dining area features a large table that comfortably accommodates group meals - especially helpful for families visiting for military graduations or special events.
All bedrooms feature high-quality 12” memory foam mattresses, each paired with a mattress topper for added comfort and support. Linens and towels are professionally cleaned off-site between every guest, so we don’t ask guests to do laundry before checkout.
If you do need it during your stay, a washer and dryer are available at no cost, with detergent and dryer sheets provided.
TRAIN & TRAIN NOISE INFORMATION:
San Antonio has a deep railway history, and many central neighborhoods were built around the tracks. Our home is approximately 100 feet from the tracks, with one house between us and the line.
You will likely hear trains pass, especially when spending time in the backyard. The sound is noticeable but brief, usually lasting anywhere from 30 seconds to just a few minutes. Many guests say they stop noticing it after the first day, while others enjoy it as part of the neighborhood’s character. However, guests who are especially sensitive to nighttime noise should take this into consideration.
As noted above, we’ve taken steps to reduce any impact and are always happy to talk through expectations before booking.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
Quiet Zone medians: To qualify for the neighborhood’s "Train Quiet Zone", concrete medians were installed on either side of the crossing (including by our driveway) to prevent vehicles from bypassing the crossing gates. As a result, backing in or out of the driveway can feel a bit tricky at first, but most guests get the hang of it fairly quickly and find it becomes easy after a try or two. You may want to allow an extra 15–30 seconds to maneuver, especially if you’re driving a larger vehicle such as a truck or SUV, and we recommend backing in when possible.
Security cameras: Exterior cameras cover the front yard, driveway, backyard, and back porch. They record 24/7 but are not actively monitored unless there’s an issue or upon guest request.
Pool use: The pool is available 24/7 and heated to 90°F during cooler months. Outdoor music should stop by 10pm out of respect our neighbors and city quiet hours.
Pool details: Approx. 20’ x 10’, about 5’ deep, with bench seating (no shallow end).
Pecan tree staining: Depending on the time of year, there may be some staining on the pool deck from the Pecan tree above; the tannins from the leaves and nuts are notorious for staining concrete. Please be assured the pool and pool deck are thoroughly cleaned before each guest check-in, it's just nature doing it's thing!
Guest access
You’ll receive a unique access code for both the front and back doors that works for the duration of your stay, making check-in easy and flexible - no need to coordinate keys or meet in person.
