Enjoy a spacious, bright, private bedroom with independent access from the garden within easy walking distance of Playa la Ropa on Zihuatanejo Bay and a number of good restaurants. Zapotillo has a fridge and a/c. Basic weekly housekeeping with change of linens is included. The unit is on the top level of a multi-level garden walk-up property.

The space
The Zapotillo guest room is a spacious, airy, private bedroom with direct access from the exterior, equipped with queen bed, fan, a/c, en suite bathroom, and fridge. The space is suitable for 1-2 person occupancy. Basic weekly housekeeping and change of linens are included.

KITCHEN USE NOT INCLUDED..

The room is suffused with natural light and has views over the palms and tropical vegetation of the La Ropa neighborhood. The room is on the upper levels of the property, so there are a number of stairs to negotiate as you move through the garden from street level to room level. One level below the room is a palapa-thatched terrace with hammocks and seating, free wifi, and splendid views of sunrise and sunset skies.

It is an easy two block walk from La Ropa Beach on Zihuatanejo Bay, and a pleasant 30 minute walk (or easy taxi or microbus ride) into town.

Guest access
Four separate buildings house independent apartments and rooms in the El Tamarindo at Casa Calamondin family complex that winds up a slope from street level. A pathway and a series of exterior stairways wind up through the garden areas to access each of the modules. Cozy comfort and low-key relaxation characterize the home.

There are two entrances onto different sections of the property, and guests are able to access the rental units via exterior walkways and stairs without having to go through the main residence. Every room and apartment has independent access from the exterior.

For outdoor lounging, guests have shared access to a rooftop palapa-thatched terrace that overlooks the tropical greenery of La Ropa and affords lovely sunrise and sunset views.

Depending on family occupancy and other rental conditions, renters staying at El Tamarindo may be granted access to the front terrace and dipping pool of the main house.

There is free WiFi on both the upper rooftop terrace and the lower terrace of the main house.

This room does not come with kitchen privileges.

During your stay
Family is sometimes in residence in the main house, and other guests and family may share the common terraces and dipping pool, so at times we do all hang out together. Generally, though, peaceful relaxation and few human distractions reign within the property. Please respect the privacy of others on the property and keep noise to a minimum.

Felisa, the house manager, checks in daily and is available should the need arise. Both Felisa and Carol are available by phone (calls, texts, or Whatapp) and email.

Neighborhood highlights

La Ropa Beach is the best and most beautiful beach on Zihuatanejo Bay, which is in itself one of the astounding jewels of the Mexican Pacific coastline. The property is a short, approximately two-block walk to the beach with only a gentle slope rising from the water level to the elevation of the house, so basically there are no hills to climb when coming and going. Just steps from the door are several restaurants that open during the winter season, with a variety of offerings from home-style Italian to savory fish tacos and chic boutique sandwiches, and along the beach are countless seafood restaurants and plenty of opportunities to imbibe a cold beer or an icy margarita.

Zihuatanejo has been my home since the mid-1990s, although my family and I first fell in love with it in 1969 when it was but a tiny and dusty fishing village. El Tamarindo is a multi-unit family complex that I administer with the valuable help of Felisa, who is hands-on with guest care on site and greatly appreciated by us all. My sisters and other family members are sometimes in residence. I do not live at El Tamarindo but drop by often.
