Your large private bedroom on the second floor (there are stairs) of our home has a queen bed with a new comfortable mattress. It has always had a mattress protector. There is a futon couch and TV in the attached sun room. Your private bathroom with tub/shower combo is off the central hallway next to your room. There is a Keurig coffee maker and small refrigerator in your room if you prefer alone time rather than using our kitchen and living room.

The space
Our 5000 sq ft home, known in the old days as a "Captains House," is one of the jewels of the rich history of the Mesabi Iron Range. It was designed with entertaining and hosting in mind and built by the Oliver Mining Company in the early 1900's. We will respect your privacy to the best of our ability with your understanding that we live here; this is our home. There is a common entrance to the house as well as a stairway to the second floor hallway from which all bedrooms and the guest bathroom are accessed.

Guest access
As guests, you will have access to our kitchen with the understanding that you will clean up after yourselves. There is a dinette off the kitchen where guests can eat although most guests prefer eating at the table in the kitchen. You are also welcome to make yourselves comfortable in our living room where we might have a fire burning in the fireplace when the weather is cool.

Other things to note
There will be a one time $10.00 fee to have the futon couch in the sitting room made up and used as a bed.

I'm a fairly energetic 70 year old retired RR conductor. I've lived in northern Minnesota since I was 11. I worked for the Canadian National RR for 38 years. I retired in 2009. I worked for the MN DNR as a tour guide in an underground iron ore mine the summer of 2015. Meeting people from all over the world and giving them an exciting, informative adventure a half mile underground was very quite enjoyable. I am now a school bus driver freeing me up to enjoy summers with my wife, Junemarie. We have 8 children, 14 grandchildren more or less, depending on how one looks at it, and two great grandchildren. We believe family is very important. We enjoy meeting new people of all sorts. Our favorite t-shirt says on the front of it, "Love God, Love People, Period" That is what we endeavor to do with God's help.
