Home away from home – With this self-catering apartment you will find all the comforts of your own house, as well as plenty privacy in quiet surroundings. The apartment is on a quiet street beside the ocean, it's comfortable, clean and cozy, with all essentials.

In summer, enjoy the energy-giving midnight sun, watch horses graze in the backyard, and wild geese and goslings strolling around. In winter, witness the majestic Northern Lights from the deck, and listen to the power of the waves.

The space
The apartment is situated in Álftanes, which is a part of Garðabær community, very close to Reykjavík (15 minutes by car or 30 minutes by bus).

The house was built 2006, it is well isolated and has central floor heating. The apartment is on ground floor with a private entrance. It is 80 square meters with two bedrooms; the main bedroom has a king size bed (180×200 cm), a big wardrobe and a desk and the smaller one has a bed which is 160×200 cm. All linen is provided.

By arrangement it's possible to get access to a washing machine and a dryer at the owners home, same building.

The kitchen is a well-equipped. There is an induction stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, and other facilities. The living room is modern and there you'll find a satellite smart TV, with access to many channels, Netflix and Disney+. In the bathroom there is a bathtub with a shower. Towels and shampoo are provided.

From the living room there is a beautiful view on a nature reserve called Kasthúsatjörn, which is very important for birds. It's a common sight to see riders on their horses pass by and during summer horses graze in the meadow just outside the garden. There is a direct access to a deck in the garden and only few meters walk to the beach. In the summer it's amazing to sit at the beach an watch the sun set. Common seal can often be seen resting on the rocks. From the beach there is a beautiful view, and when the sky is clear you can even see Snæfellsnes peninsula, Snæfellsjökull glacier and Reykjanes peninsula.

Álftanes is characterized by beautiful shorelines, clear ponds and abundant bird life. A countryside image of fairly dense settlement in the peace of nature with all the advantages of being near Reykjavík.

The district is nice and quiet, the house is very close to the sea, and the place is ideal for outdoor activities. It offers diverse bird life, protected bird area, pastures for horses (except for the coldest months), and sometimes magnificent ocean waves. Perfect place to watch the Northern Lights at winter and the midnight sun at summer.

In the neighbourhood there is an excellent public swimming pool that has steam bath, slide, several hot tubs and a gym. The president residency is also in a walking distance.

Bessastaðir, the official residence of the Icelandic President is only 2.5 km away.

About 2 km away there is an excellent public swimming pool, Álftaneslaug, which offer the only wave pool in Iceland. It also has a steam bath, big slide, hot tubs and a gym.

Álftanes Kaffi is a nice little coffee house about 2 km away, very close to the swimming pool. There you can have coffee and delicious treats in cosy environment and all meals made from scratch. Great soups and the pizza is superb.

I live with my family in Álftanes, Garðabær community. We like it here because it is like living at the countryside although being in the city. We love the quietness, the bird life , the magnificent power of the ocean - and so many other things. Our house is divided into two parts, the main house where we live and the apartment which we rent out. We have a cat, a dog, hens and horses that are in a stable during winter but graze at a meadow next to the house from June to September. My family and I love to meet new people and we try our best to let you feel good in our house. My goal is for you to come to a beautiful, clean, warm and cozy apartment where you will feel comfortable during your stay.
