The traditional bamboo ceilings keep the room cool in summer and warm in winter. The Studio has both air-conditioning and a room heater for chilly evenings. Free Wifi is provided.
The bed boasts a really cozy handmade cotton mattress which is luxuriously snug.
The room is furnished with antique furniture (mostly Art Deco) which I have sourced from the local area. The walls are decorated with fabulous old prints of the Hindu Gods and the niches are filled with interesting objet d'art.
A large selection of books and magazines are provided for guests pleasure.
There is a fridge, toaster, kettle, tea, coffee and mineral water.
The luxury bathroom is en-suite to the room and boasts 'the best power shower in India', modern fittings, a hair dryer and lots of goodies for guests.
Aju, my housekeeper, comes every day at 10 in the morning, excepting Sundays. She also makes the best chai in Udaipur on request and gives a fabulous head massage. (Please pay Aju directly for massage). She can also take your laundry which will be returned to you the next day. This is payable to her.
The Studio is within a few minutes walk to The City Palace, home of the Maharajas of Udaipur, the famous 15th Century Jagdish Temple with its amazing architecture and stone carvings, a multitude of excellent restaurants, serving both non-veg and veg dishes, antique and vintage shops, a bookshop and an Internet cafe.
The rickshaw stand is two minutes from the house where you will find many a willing 'tuk-tuk wallah' ready to whisk you off on a tour of the old spice, vegetable and pottery markets. Just by the rickshaw stand you will find the boat stand from where you can take a romantic sunset voyage around Lake Pichola.
Aditya at Lakecity Holidays on Lal Ghat is happy to assist guests with plans for days out to the legendary Jain temples at Ranakpur, Kumbhalgarh Fort, Eklinji temple or to see the unmissable Juna Mahal Palace at Dungarpur.
He can also organize flight, train and bus tickets and change money.
Please note that The Studio does NOT have a terrace or a view being the ground floor of the property.

Please treat Aju, my fabulous housekeeper, with respect.
Rosie's well-furnished place was located in the best location, just a short walk to the City Palace and steps away from rooftop restaurants overlooking the lake. Rosie was easy to communicate with, responsive and very helpful during our stay. She helped us organize a car, also the best recommended restaurants and shops. Highly recommended!
Wow, an absolute gem of a place in a vibrant area of Lal Ghat. The room itself was perfect and was full of quirky antiques, furniture and books which made it feel like staying in an a very nice and homely room; and it must be noted that the shower is without doubt, the best in India. Kitchen upstairs is more than sufficient and rooftop terrace was great to sit for drinks and chatting.
Rosie is lovely; she was there to meet me on arrival and was always on hand for assistance. I would always find her at Rainbow Cafe which itself has breath taking lake and sunset views. Was good to have someone in Rosie who was happy to share tea, breakfast, lunch, beers and stories with. Very knowledgeable about the area and very connected so was able to recommend everything I required.
Perfect BnB experience and Rosie must surely be not far from superhost status.
I booked this room for a friend while I took Rosie's other space. We had a terrific experience. Rosie was there to greet us and showed us around the beautiful city of Udaipur, sharing her favorite haunts and introducing us to her friends. My friend remarked that, even though it is not atypical for the type of authentic "re"construction of such a building, the upper bathroom windows have no glass and at night in the winter, that can contribute to cold air. However Rosie has a heater and it was cozy for sleeping.
I stayed a week in the studio with friends staying upstairs.....fantastic!!
Rosie's is a great space to hang out in, especially the terrace for the odd wine and gin & tonic. The studio was so comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated.
Aditiya was so helpful not to mention his positivity and eternal smile.
Ayu is priceless with her great chai and big hugs.
Waking to the hello, hello from the next door was the best start to the day.
And Rosie.... the ever helpful, ever entertaining "landlady" was just delightful.
Thanks so much Rosie. See you in Transylvania.
Fabulous place! Rosie's house is a little slice of heaven. Cozy and inviting, it was not only very comfortable but Rosie's very good aesthetics show in even the slightest of details, from the single yellow bedside rose to the lovely antiques, placed throughout the house. The shower was lovely, a strong rain version with plenty of steamy hot water. There were teas and water available, I absolutely fell in love with this place! Rosie is a very kind and generous hostess and we shared some great conversation while I gazed from the rooftop terrace over tea. She made me feel quite at home and was a great boon to begin my trip, with good solid advice on an array of topics. I return in one week to stay in the beautiful quarters upstairs and can't wait! Totally a gift to meet rosie.
Rosie's house is in a very convenient part of the old city. It was comfortable and quiet and a great location from which to see the best of the lake and the surrounding palaces.
My first impression this studio is really spacious, has heaps of character with its eclectic mix of antiques at the same time had is very comfortable - definitely has more than the basics that one finds at any other b&b. Studio looks exactly as promised and more;
My first requisite clean room - so scored big time; Second top on the list is a clean bathroom and a hot shower... delivered well on that; Pleasantly surprised by the Heater as it was really cold as temperature uncharacteristically dropped to less than ten degrees most days. Lastly comfortable reading space when I want me time... so Rosie’s armchair held many jasmine chai sessions for me
Ahh forgot to mention the terrace has a view of the Pichola Lake, offering a beautiful view of the water. We chose to welcome the new year on the terrace with a very very effective and ancient angeethi...
Rosie, Aju and Aditya
Met Rosie even though she had fever on the first day, really a good host. Aju (with warm smiles) helps keep the place clean ... do definitely try her masala chai -
Travelling around Udaipur from Rosie's: Rosie’s studio is a perfect as a base for exploring Udaipur;
Local transport rentals - Have to mention Aditya, easy smile and keep it simple mantra - he can actually get you a helicopter if you chose to travel so. Helped us with car rentals or tuk tuks, was important as we were attending wedding events and had plenty of jewelry and were travelling odd hours.
Breakfast around Rosie's: Many options but I settled for a few meals at Jagat Niwas which may look like any regular heritage property but is beautiful on the inside with efficient staff and excellent fare as delivered on my fruits, oats, eggs and pancakes.
Cost perspective - the studio a much better option than a mainstream hotel for a minuscule price.
Rosie, just one suggestion - it would help if there are reading lights.

Hello, my name is Rosie and I have been living in Udaipur for twelve years. I have a long connection with India as my ancestor, Lord Cornwallis, was Governor General of India twice (his picture hangs in the house) and my mother's family were involved in the tea and jute business in Assam.
I am an antique dealer specializing in unique decorative treasures from in and around Rajasthan.
I spend my summers in Transylvania where I am restoring The Magic Cottage in the Harghita Mountains. It is soon to be another Airbnb gem.
I love Udaipur and I am sure that you will too. I look forward to being your hostess in this beautiful city of lakes.
