In a quiet fold of the mountains above the great Columbia River lies a small curious dwelling built into the hill.

Through its round green door you’ll find a snug room, a steady fire, and quiet enough to hear your thoughts. It was made for those who take joy in small comforts and simple work. Here, time lingers, tea tastes better, and the world feels just a bit larger beyond the door.

The space
Built right into the hillside, this little home feels less constructed than discovered. Its round green door opens to a snug, hand-crafted dwelling — about 300 square feet of simple magic. Inside, a cordwood floor warms underfoot, and the walls curve close as if the hill itself were keeping watch.

The hobbit who might have lived here was surely a carpenter. His bench still stands by the window, strewn with wood blocks and shavings, a lantern in progress nearby that may (or may not) hold a secret worth whispering about.

There is no grand kitchen — only a kettle for tea and the comfort of a fire crackling in the hearth. A deep wooden soaker tub waits in its alcove, built for long evenings and slow water, best enjoyed by those in no hurry.

This is an off-grid home. In summer, the lights hum softly on solar power; in winter, a small generator keeps things bright. There’s no Wi-Fi, no screens, and little to remind you of the noise beyond the hills.

What you will find instead are small joys: the scent of cedar and smoke, a view that stretches to forever, and the curious feeling that you’ve stepped sideways in time — into a quieter world that still believes in good work, warm fires, and second breakfasts.

Guest access
We have 6 acres to hike around & explore :)

Other things to note
There is a parking area at the bottom of the hill and a short but steep hike to the hobbit hole. It's just under a 100 yards and takes less than 5 mins if your physically able bodied. If you are not please look at the pictures to determine if you will be comfortable with the distance.

Booking in the winter you will need a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Snow is likely December - March.

My work: Builder of fun airbb
Hey there! I am a proud Idahoan who is passionate about living simply. In the winter of 2013 I fulfilled a life long dream of building my very own treehouse that now I get to share with ya'll. Off that success I was able to build a hobbit hole, refurbish a fire lookout and recently made over a 6 ton spud you can sleep in!
