The space

We call this "SliceO'Heaven Ranch" for a very good reason! If you want to leave the city life behind and immerse yourself in complete country living, this is your destination.. if you're headed to anywhere in the greater Sacramento area, ( including Elk Grove, Wilton, Galt Lodi, & Rancho Murieta), we're about 35 miles south of the capitol, in the rural town of Herald... but well worth the commute if you're in town on business or pleasure. We offer a large room with private bath and separate entrance off of a sun deck. THIS IS A WORKING RANCH with all the "charm" that goes with it. We have horses and goats, dogs and cats. OVERNIGHT HORSE BOARDING available! You should be an animal enthusiast to take full advantage of this wonderful 8 - acre property. Plenty of places to walk, sit, meditate and participate. Riding lessons available! Seasonal swimming pool, BBQ, lounge chairs, and baby goats born in the spring! Breakfast (fresh ranch eggs!) included with arrangements available for all meals. (10 miles to the closest restaurant.. but you won't want to leave!!) We accommodate vegetarians and vegans. World renowned, award-winning smoothies! ;-)
This ranch is best suited for people who love nature and the outdoors... and with all the fresh air and hard work around here.. we generally wind down somewhat early in the evening. (There's no TV in the room, sorry) Please contact us with any questions.. we'd love to hear from you! Shelley

Please be a non-smoker. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on this property. The main guidelines are, common sense, followed by awareness of others and animals. We love to share the outdoors, pets and livestock with guests. We appreciate children who are respectful of property and cautious in their approach to the 4-legged residents here. We discourage running and yelling around the livestock as they spook easily. There are lots of "party" destinations and this probably isn't one of them. Bring your dog as long as he is not aggressive toward other dogs and be advised that our "pack" loves to rough house with other canines! It's like the dog park all day long! (no barkers, please) Just be respectful all around and we're happy! Shelley

If you are an animal lover, this farm setting is a great getaway. Our dogs had the time of their lives running with Shelley's dozen rescue dogs! Horses, chickens, ducks, goats... And an awesome farm fresh breakfast!!!

Shelley’s farmhouse was perfect for me, my husband, our small dog and our 10 month old. We were in the area for the weekend for a wedding. The room was large and comfortable with an en suite. Shelley allowed us to check in an hour early so we could settle in from our 1.5 hour drive before the wedding. She also cooked us an amazing breakfast the next morning. She allowed us to walk through her farm. We visited the goats, chickens and horses. We also really enjoyed seeing the fruit trees on her property. I highly recommend staying here!

The most amazing host. Shelley has made us the most amazing morning breakfasts with a real homely farm stay. We had our young puppy run around with all the dogs and animals, and we met the goats and horses and ducks and pigs. The best airbnb by far and definitely recommended for a romantic getaway from the city.

Our trip to the Herald Area was completed with an overnight with Shelley and Dennis on their sanctuary farm. The room on the edge of the lawn was comfortable and decorated with photo-art that highlighted the equestrian experience that Shelley documented throughout her photography career. In addition to our great night sleep we scheduled a morning ride/lesson after a tour of all her animals at the farm and sampling figs from her full tree. We had a delicious breakfast complete with their homemade goat yogurt and fresh egg omelette. We felt completely refreshed and rejuvenated.

Love this place and keep returning again and again. Enjoy the menagerie of animals, and helping out where I can. Was served a great breakfast of ingredients all from the farm. Highly recommended!

Loved staying with Shelley and Dennis again. Looking forward to the new room that will look out on the horse pasture. Had a fabulous breakfast and enjoyed socializing with the new kittens!

I'm from Herald, a small, rural community about 35 miles southeast of Sacramento. We operate a goat and horse ranch; teach riding lessons, as well as a dog and cat animal shelter. I love animals and nature and starting a flower farm... life's better after 50!
