A charming apartment, made especially cozy by a recent remodeling. It is located on the first floor (without elevator) of an ancient building which dates back to the sixteenth century.
A very noiseless place right in the historical center of the city, in Urbana street, a road which two thousand years ago was named “Vicus Patricius” and throbbed with life during the Roman imperial government.
The “Suburra” – the previous name of this district located on the sloped of the Quirinale and Viminale hills spreading as far as Esquilino hill – was a suburban neighbourhood of ill-fame, but where also new freedmen and patricians built their houses, surrounded by taverns, brothels, prostitutes, thieves, traders and some respectable people. The heart of Rome was like this. During the Emperor Vespasian time the Colosseum was built down the eastern part of the city, while on the south you could admire the Arch of Tito and the temple of Nettuno on the west.
Today the district of Suburra is called “Rione Monti”, the first neighbourhood of the city, one of the few places where you can have a real, genuine breathing area.
The apartment consists of one room (even if it is divided in two parts by a corridor) perfectly acclimatized (air conditioned) and endowed with an elegant cooking alcove finished in travertine marble (where guests will find everything necessary for cooking).
The sleeping area has got a chestnut boiserie which has been made out of fifteenth century beam floors of the building that today homes the Teatro dei Satiri, previously cavea of the Teatro di Pompeo (the place where the Emperor Julius Caesar was murdered). Beside the double-bed there is an intermediate wooden floor fitted with a single bed.
The loft is made precious by the restoration work of the ancient sixteenth century beam ceiling, by the sight of bricks from the original construction, by a mosaic whose “unicum” you can see in the Museo Nazionale Romano di Palazzo Massimo alle Terme and by a modern liquid crystal television.
The bathroom, also finished in travertine marble, contains a shower and is well stocked with everything that guests need (towels, soap, shampoo).
The flat has also free wifi Internet connection!!!
The location of the apartment is exceptional as you are actually close to all the classic sights of Rome. The Colosseum and Fori Imperiali are no more than an easy five minute walk. Moreover the “Cavour” underground (subway) station is approximately one hundred meters far from the apartment.
In the immediate vicinity it’s worth a moment to linger along the narrow lanes of the Suburra, the church of Santa Pudenziana and its Byzantine mosaic (this is the oldest church in Rome, it dates back to the third century A.D.; the tradition says that Saint Peter might have found shelter there during the Christian persecution), the church of Santa Prassede and obviously the magnificent and imposing Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore.
The perfect starting point to best enjoy the best of the eternal city!
Nice cosy apartment, just as advertised. Very central and with all you need for your stay. Impressed by the quick response of Alessandro, not only when we booked, but also when we arrived early. Our first AirBnB experience, certainly not our last! Definitely highly recommend the apartment and host.
The appartement was awesome as well as our stay in Rome! Very cosy, very well communicated, in the center of the city, it was just perfect ;-) You have all you need: towels, a small kichten but very useful and it's very quiet. Besides, Alessandro is a great host, a good adviser and available if you need some help. I certainly come back to Rome in the future, the city is magic and so beautiful. Grazie mille Alessandro!

This is a great little flat in an excellent location - compact, with everything you need, and at the back of the building so no street noise. Alessandro is a very helpful host - everything went well! Thank you!
We were very satisfied with our stay in the apartment of Alessandro. Everything was exact like we expected. At our arrival they gave us a few tips for restaurants and they were really great! We strongly advise this apartment for people who want to visit Rome.
Alessandor offered us a excellent apartment during our stay in Rome. The location of the apartment is perfect, only 10 mins walking to Colosseo and Termini station. Surrounding facilities are also good, super market, small bars are within walking distance. Recommended for visitors, especially couples who will travel in Rome!
We had such a lovely stay in Alessandro's apartment in Rome! It was such a cosy place to come and relax after a busy day exploring Rome. It is in a great and trendy area, surrounded by lovely local restaurants and so close to the Colosseum and Roman Forum! Alessandro was so welcoming and accommodating, he was able to give us some great tips for an amazing stay in Rome! We would definitely recommend Alessandro and his apartment to others travelling to Rome!
This flat is very comfortable! and Near by train station. so very convenient! good!
A cosy apartment near the main train station. It was nicely heated, and located on the first floor with 2 flights of stairs to get to.
Plenty of good food in the neighborhood, and the colosseum was just a 15minute walk away, which made it easy to return in the night for night shots!
The spaces are a bit tight (not a problem for us Asians :p) but the kitchen was very well equipped!
Alessandro was punctual and extremely friendly, and I would highly recommend this cosy apartment.
