Three things people love about our place- (1) proximity to public transportation, great restaurants, and grocery stores, (2) cleanliness, (3) a host who is dedicated to making your stay an awesome one. Three things people don't love: 3rd floor walk up, older home = older heating system, and a small bathroom. If we haven't scared you off yet, please continue reading and tell us a little about yourself and your trip!
The space
The private apartment you are considering for your stay is located on the 3rd floor of our Queen Anne single family home, built in 1884- with original wood windows and creaky oak floors. A bright and sunny living room with tall ceilings, dining area, small kitchen, small bathroom, and separate bedroom (ceilings are not tall in the bedroom) with a queen sized bed. Central A/C for hot summers, all you can drink coffee/tea, comfortable and clean amenities.
We recently renovated the kitchen and bathroom. Gone are the days of our scary gas range & stove from 1970 :-) If you are a repeat guest, welcome back!

The apartment is completely private with it's own entrance via stairs located behind our house. There are two sets of doors separating your apartment from the rest of our home inside. We value privacy, so unless we invite you into our home or you invite us into the apartment, the two spaces are completely cut off.
There is no elevator in our home and the apartment is located on the third floor. It can be quite a trek! Please keep this in mind if you have heavy luggage, or find stair climbing daunting!
We have a long and very very very narrow driveway (only 9 feet wide!), to which you are welcome to park your car. This is tandem parking, so you might be asked to move your car if we need to use ours.
Other things to note
Please be reminded that unlike a hotel, our apartment is not perfect. The windows are original to the house. Floors can be a bit creaky. The bathroom is on the smaller side. We don't have TV and the apartment is a 3rd floor walk-up. These are very important things to note prior to booking. We receive wonderful reviews because we aim to be kind and responsive, but please don't compare us with hotels!
We take cleanliness seriously. All towels, sheets, and duvet covers are laundered prior to your arrival. Shower curtains are changed after each guest. We stopped charging a cleaning fee because everyone is so wonderful at picking up after themselves. Let's continue that! Floors are mopped frequently. For folks staying longer than a week, we have a laundry/dryer in the basement you're welcome to use.
We currently have two kittens named Maeve and Otis. They with us in the main house and we keep them out of the apartment you'll be staying in. If you love cats, come down for a cup of tea and experience some wild kitten energy :-)
We have a good wifi connection for all your scrolling and streaming needs. We do not have a TV.
For the safety and security of our guests, we have cameras on the exterior of our property, capturing our driveway and our own front door (not yours). Everything beyond the foot of the stairs to the apartment is completely private.
The old and mature trees of our street attract nature and critters like no other. It is not uncommon to spot a wild Turkey (she likes to bathe in our garden), bunnies, squirrels, birds of various kinds, insects and even the occasional bat. With all things wild life- if you leave them alone, they will leave you alone.
Our neighbors are fully aware that we have guests on our property and this is our primary residence. Please feel welcome and at ease. We're always around should any emergencies arise. We won't ask you to pretend to be our long lost friends or family members. You're our guests! Please make yourself at home.
As of September 2024 - we are reopen for business! We spent the last year gutting and renovating the bedroom, kitchen, and bath. We hope repeat guests will be delighted and new guests will find it comfortable.

We’re a 5 minute walk from Central Square, and a stone’s throw away from Mass Ave. A 15 minute walk from Harvard Square. A bevy of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, supermarkets- all within walking distance. Expect to see lots of birds and wildlife even though you’re in the city.
Central Square has retained its urban grittiness despite all the gentrification (Pharma/Tech companies moving in by the droves, H-Mart, Target, fancy gastro-pubs, new luxury condos being built). The local population is comprised of students, young professionals, professors and other academic types. Exercise your street smarts when walking on Mass Ave, especially in the evenings. Cambridge is safe, but every city is struggling with opioid overdose and homelessness. It’s the sad truth.
