NEW ON AIRBNB SEPTEMBER 2023 - Built as a historical recreation of Union General Mitchel's home, Mitchelville Place is a newly renovated all-inclusive vacation rental property. The three story Main House has all the modern amenities and comfortably sleeps 12 guests. Outside, our Grand Lawn is surrounded by beautiful coastal scenery which includes our private Ibis Pond, bridge, gazebo, and fire pit areas.

The space
Welcome to the historic estate of Mitchelville Place! Nestled on 3.5 acres in the Beach City area of Hilton Head Island, our newly renovated home was originally a recreation of Union General Ormsby Mitchel's home. Enjoy the modern updates and comfort of this one-of-a-kind home where you can experience all the best of what Hilton Head has to offer.

The Main House:

The house itself is three stories with a wrap around porch leading out to the grand lawn. On the first floor is the living area, dinning room, chef's kitchen, laundry room, and half bathroom. The Master and second bedroom are on the second floor, along with a hide-away bed on the landing. The third bedroom is the entire third floor and includes a full bathroom.

KITCHEN & DINING
We keep our kitchen stocked with all the basic necessities including pots and pans, plenty of glassware and plates, cooking and eating utensils, etc. This well-equipped culinary space features the latest appliances and ample counter space which can be increased if needed with a removable island. Next to the kitchen is the dinning area, where you can share a meal at a table that seats ten.

Coffee anyone? We've got you covered with the latest Keurig coffee maker and complimentary assorted k-cups, tea and coffee supplies.

LIVING AREA
The living area has full-surround windows, allowing for views of the lawn and pond. Here is where you can entertain, play board games with the family, catch up on your favorite show on our large screen TV, or cozy up to a good book.

BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS
Each room is beautifully decorated with a mix of antique, coastal, and modern furnishings, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere that will make you feel right at home. On the second floor you'll find two bedrooms, the master and a second bedroom, each of which has a ceiling fan, as well as a hide-a-bed on the second floor landing.
The master bedroom is the perfect space to rest, with a plush, king size, four-post bed and our luxurious bridal suite bathroom, designed specifically for on-site hair and makeup for brides and bridesmaids, which features a beautiful walk-in shower with a frameless glass door and double marble top vanities. For clothing storage, there is a closet connected to the master with hangers provided.
The second bedroom also has an adjoining private bathroom with a walk-in shower, as well as two comfortable queen size beds and a flat screen TV.
The third floor is its own private floor separated by a door at the foot of the stairs which leads to a room with 4 twin beds. The third floor bathroom features a walk-in shower with a gorgeous white stained glass window looking out over the grounds and barn.

OUTDOOR AREAS:
The Wrap-Around Porch:

Lined with 10 teak lounge chairs and a high-top table seating four, you can enjoy a nice evening sipping a drink, entertain, or just relax. Ceiling fans covering each area of the porch ensure comfort during any season.

The Barn:

The Barn is only for those guests who are using the property as both a vacation house and venue for intimate gatherings (additional fee required). For those guests, the adjacent barn triples as an indoor venue space with its own full bathroom, a full bar with a two-tap kegerator and refrigeration. No overnight stays are permitted in the barn, and the barn will remain locked during non-event hours.

The Lawn:

Mitchelville rests on 4.5 acres of beautiful coastal land secluded by a privacy fence and overlooking Port Royal Sound. The wrap around porch is furnished with teak chairs along with other outdoor seating and ceiling fans. Our property is largely shaded by the sweeping canopies of live oak trees and opens up the closer you get to the water. There you will find our picturesque Ibis Pond accessorized with a fountain and bridge, which is known to usually have a pair of nesting ibis birds along with other local wild life. The Lawn also has a pavilion and large deck. Whether you are looking for the perfect backdrop to make memories, a peaceful place to watch the sunset, or beautiful scenery worthy of social media, you will love hanging out on the lawn. This space is open all hours for the enjoyment of all guests of Mitchelville Place.

With a unique blend of historical allure, coastal character, and modern elegance, our place is the embodiment of southern charm in the Low Country.

Guest access
Guests have access to everything in the main house, excluding storage closets on the first, second, and third floors that are locked. The second floor of the barn is not accessible to any guests at anytime, as it is an office. Guests may see Mitchelville staff access the office and property anytime from 7:00AM-7:00PM. The first floor of the barn is only accessible for guests who are hosting an event at the property through our partner Carolina Weddings. The barn will remain locked during non-event hours.

Other things to note
As we are also an event venue, you will receive a message after booking from our property/event manager. If you are only interested in a vacation rental, you can disregard this message. Guests who are only interested in a vacation rental are limited to a maximum of 12 overnight guests and 12 visiting guests (no more than 24 people total on property). Gatherings larger than 24 guests will need to coordinate with our property/event manager, and may be required to pay additional fees and/or provide proof of event insurance.

You also may see Mitchelville staff on the grounds to do maintenance, landscaping, or to access the management office. Our staff strives to ensure privacy for all guests, and will limit our access of the property during guest stays. The Main House is always 100% private, and during events staff will not be in the office.
