About this listing
Where political history marries art...3 short blocks to the downtown and in the shadow of the pillars of the community from politics to faith to education to justice.
This home is a breathtakingly beautiful Queen Anne Victorian built in 1890. It is in walking distance to downtown Concord's restaurants, bars, museums and theaters. The House has convenient free street parking and during snow conditions, off street parking is available.
The 5,000 square foot home has hosted Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Bob Dole and Al Gore. It is detailed with stained glass windows, oak floors, beautiful fireplaces, chandeliers, and it is steeped in bi-partisan political history. From the front porch you can see the Federal Court House and the golden dome of the State House.
The private bedroom is located on the first floor. It is a large elegant room that in its previous life was the majestic formal living room separated with oak pocket doors. It has a double bed, desk, night stands, large closet, comfortable chairs, a jotul gas stove set into the magnificent fireplace and a small refrigerator fully equipped with breakfast provisions. The room has a TV with a full premium cable package and the entire house is wi-fi connected.
The first floor boasts a private elegant modern bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and shower a few steps from the bedroom...kitchen privileges may be available. In the late spring and summer, the gardens in the back and the wrap around porch are fabulous for wine and cheese or breakfast coffee.
If you are traveling with a third person, a first floor room, the library-study, is equipped with a murphy bed (my daughters claim it is the most comfortable sleeping bed in the house), may be available. I can arrange for the third person to use the study at a cost of $53/night. The room has a small dresser, desk, comfortable chair, piano and hat rack.
The room price includes the 3% airbnb host fee and 9% NH rooms and meals tax.
Guests will have access to the large first floor kitchen (use of microwave, hot water maker, toaster oven and coffee maker) the kitchen has a table, 4 chairs and two comfortable easy chairs. The kitchen overlooks the perennial gardens equipped with outdoor furniture and hammocks for use during the warmer weather.
Interaction with Guests
I am generally available to guests during their stay. I reside on the third floor, which is a converted attic that is fully equipped with kitchen and bath.
The house is walkable to most of what is considered the central business district of Concord NH which is also the state capital.
