The Majority Leader's House

House - Private room · Rumford Street, Concord, NH 03301, United States

The Space

This home is a breathtakingly beautiful Queen Anne Victorian built in 1890. It is in walking distance to downtown Concord's restaurants, bars, museums and theaters.

The 5,000 square foot home has hosted Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Bob Dole and Al Gore. It is detailed with stained glass windows, oak floors, beautiful fireplaces, chandeliers, and it is steeped in bi-partisan political history. From the front porch you can see the Federal Court House and the golden dome of the State House.

The private bedroom is located on the first floor. It is a large elegant room that in its previous life was the majestic formal living room separated with oak pocket doors. It has a double bed, desk, night stands, large closet, comfortable chairs and a small refrigerator fully equipped with breakfast provisions. The room has a TV with a full premium cable package and the entire house is wi-fi connected.

The bedroom has access to an elegant modern bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and privileges may be available. In the late spring and summer, the gardens in the back and the wrap around porch are fabulous for wine and cheese or breakfast coffee.

Please Note:
If you are traveling with a third person, a first floor room, the library-study, is equipped with a murphy bed (my daughters claim it is the most comfortable sleeping bed in the house), may be available. I can arrange for the third person to use the study at a cost of $40/night. The room has a small dresser, desk, comfortable chair, piano and hat rack.

The room price includes the 3% airbnb host fee and 9% NH rooms and meals tax.

  • The room (and the whole house, really) were absolutely beautiful! The room was so pretty and cozy (very private, too), and the bathroom we had down the hall had the most luxurious shower and bath.

Arnie was sweet and welcoming, friendly and interesting. It really was the perfect place to stay-probably my favorite AirBnB experience ever!

  • Arnie was an absolute delight... so interesting and fun! Her home was magnificent, and the room was elegant and comfortable. It was a pleasure ending the day by sitting around the table, engaging in stimulating conversation, and simply enjoying the craziness of life. Can't wait for my next visit!

  • The pictures can not even grasp how beautiful the home is, everywhere you turned there was always something intriguing to look at and everything had a story behind it. I am so grateful to have had met Arnie and for her to have opened her home to us. We felt extremely welcomed and Arnie was so amazing. It was my first airbnb experience and it couldn't have been more perfect.

    March 2014
  • Just like the last time, my stay was great. The property was comfortable, but still had its historic value. Arnie is still a great host, and I hope that I can stay there for my next trip.

  • Arnie, and the wonderful house she has renovated and decorated, will keep you captivated. She is kind and compassionate, and for my purposes, the room she offered was completely comfortable and included all the little conveniences that made my visit to Concord flow smoothly. There is no doubt I'll return to share more history and art and stories. Thank you so much, Arnie, for providing for me (and others) so well!

    February 2014
  • Arnie was a splendid host and her home is absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, my fiance and I's travel plans changed last minute, so we able to fully experience everything what Arnie and her home had to offer. We felt very comfortable and very well take care of during our short night there. Highly recommend and hope to find the opportunity to make it back soon.

    January 2014
  • Arnie is deeply generous, accommodating, and beyond pleasant to stay with. The house is stunning and eclectic and feels like you're staying in a museum (in a good way). I enjoyed a fantastic whirlpool bath and decided on this last trip that if she'd like to adopt me, I'm game!
