About this listing
This home is a breathtakingly beautiful Queen Anne Victorian built in 1890. It is in walking distance to downtown Concord's restaurants, bars, museums and theaters. The House has convenient free street parking and during snow conditions, off street parking is available.
The 5,000 square foot home has hosted Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Bob Dole and Al Gore. It is detailed with stained glass windows, oak floors, beautiful fireplaces, chandeliers, and it is steeped in bi-partisan political history. From the front porch you can see the Federal Court House and the golden dome of the State House.
The private bedroom is located on the first floor. It is a large elegant room that in its previous life was the majestic formal living room separated with oak pocket doors. It has a double bed, desk, night stands, large closet, comfortable chairs, a jotul gas stove set into the magnificent fireplace and a small refrigerator fully equipped with breakfast provisions. The room has a TV with a full premium cable package and the entire house is wi-fi connected.
The first floor boasts a private elegant modern bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and shower a few steps from the bedroom...kitchen privileges may be available. In the late spring and summer, the gardens in the back and the wrap around porch are fabulous for wine and cheese or breakfast coffee.
If you are traveling with a third person, a first floor room, the library-study, is equipped with a murphy bed (my daughters claim it is the most comfortable sleeping bed in the house), may be available. I can arrange for the third person to use the study at a cost of $53/night. The room has a small dresser, desk, comfortable chair, piano and hat rack.
The room price includes the 3% airbnb host fee and 9% NH rooms and meals tax.
Guests will have access to the large first floor kitchen (use of microwave, hot water maker, toaster oven and coffee maker) the kitchen has a table, 4 chairs and two comfortable easy chairs. The kitchen overlooks the perennial gardens equipped with outdoor furniture and hammocks for use during the warmer weather.
Interaction with Guests
I am generally available to guests during their stay. I reside on the third floor, which is a converted attic that is fully equipped with kitchen and bath.
The house is walkable to most of what is considered the central business district of Concord NH which is also the state capital.
Other Things to Note
weekly rates may be available depending upon the season...
Arnie is a very considerate hostess. She really made us feel welcome. Staying at her house added a lot to our experience of Concord and our understanding of New Hampshire and the US. Arnie is very literate and we learned a lot, but above all we appreciated the authenticity of staying at her home, talking to her and being introduced to her family and friends. This is what Airbnb is about for us.
The house and accommodations are truly spectacular, and Arnie makes you feel right at home. If you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to stay here, you must take it. I stayed in the gorgeous bedroom on the ground floor. Arnie was so thoughtful in preparing the room for me; there was cereal, tea, fruits, blueberries, milk, etc. The bathroom is gorgeous as well. Huge house, beautifully decorated, huge yard--stunning. I was in Concord to take the Bar Exam, and couldn't have chosen a more perfect haven.
Arnie was so welcoming, with a very outgoing and friendly personality. Perfect in her directions and communication. House is lovely and the room was warm, with every detail well thought out.
The house and room are spectacular. The host was the best. Arne is a very special lady with a very special house. We loved the room and experience so much, we want to go back!!
After about 10 minutes of meeting Arne, we became friends and had a great visit!! I love her design throughout the house. A must see.
I had such an amazing time at Arnies home!
I can't wait to come back again!
Everything was beautiful, the whole house is a dream and the room and the bathroom were just amazing!
Arnie made me feel right at home - the best place I ever stayed and I certainly didn't want to leave!
I highly recommend Arnie and her beautiful house!
Arnie's place was so far above our expectations, it's honestly hard to describe; it's definitely the best place we've ever stayed. Arnie was extremely fun to talk to, and she had many fun stories about the history of the house - the house and the tour she gave us were far more interesting than some museums that I've been to. We had the whole first floor pretty much to ourselves - our only regret was not being able to stay longer!
Arnie was a fantastic host and her home is such a comfortable, gorgeous and spacious accommodation. It's full of history, character and charm that enhance your stay. The way the house is laid out makes the 1st floor super private and quiet and you have access to the enormous eat in kitchen with views to the peaceful backyard. We especially loved the incredible bathroom and jacuzzi tube that rivals even with bathrooms in 5 star hotels. The bed is super comfy and there's lots of space to relax. The fridge in the room is generously stocked and Arnie gladly provides anything else you might need, including neighborhood recommendations. We highly recommend it and hope to visit again in the future;)
