Welcome to Chania , the second largest city in Crete and capital of the prefecture of Chania. Located 60 km from Rethymno and 145 from Heraklion.
Chania is considered one of the most beautiful towns on the island and is an ideal base for exploring all of Crete; most of the sites in western Crete are no more than three hours away by car.

There was a significant Minoan city believed by the ancient Cydonia as the basis of archaeological and historical research indicates that it is built on the ruins. Mentioned by Homer as one of the most important cities of Crete, while Kydonians considered prehellenic sex. The ancient writers consider Cydonia "mother of the other Cretan cities".

The Neighborhood

The old town has so much to offer you from the Topanas and the Jewish Districts, Santrivani, Splantzia and Kasteli as well as a number of narrow streets and buildings of Venetian, Ottoman and Neoclassical architecture that are jaw-draping.
Astonishing buildings like venetian town houses and villas to a more Eastern vibe with the town’s numerous Turkish houses, mosques and churches there is no question were the area’s diversity came from.
Take your time to walk around there and feel the magic of the old city casting a spell on you. Try the local delicacies and live like the locals by trying raki or ntakos, the famous Cretan Greek salad, popular all over the world and get an instant love for Mediterranean cuisine! Escape from all the hassle and the noise with an amazing walk around the old city of Chania and you will see for your own that at every corner you will discover something different. Feel the Cretan hospitality and let the area’s magic take over you.

  • A great stay! Chryssoula and Georgia were very welcoming and attentive hosts. As another user mentioned, this room is a bit of a cave lighting-wise since it's mostly underground, so if you're someone who needs a lot of natural sunlight, you might want to look into one of the other rooms here. The kitchenette was small but incredibly useful for whipping up hot breakfasts during our stay in Chania. Also, the location could not be beat! We were close to the old harbor and to the central bus station.

  • We loved our stay in Chryssoulas Guesthouse. Chryssoule herself was a very nice host. She was pleased to answer all of our questions and had good insidertipps for our stay. The Room was directly in the center of chania and was the perfect starting point for every trip. The Room was okay.... A bit old fashioned and used, but for the small price you cannot expect a deluxe suite.
Overall we would definately recommend Chryssoula's Guesthouse.
We wish Chryssoula all the best and maybe we come back another day.

  • The stay at Chryssoula's place was great. The room is in a great location in Chania and within walking distance to the harbour and the beach (a bit further to the beach). Chryssoula was welcoming and made sure that we were comfortable. I would mention that this room is a little dark, because it is on the bottom floor, but it didn't bother us. Overall, a great stay!

  • I loved staying at Chryssoula's guest house. The room was lovely and very clean plus it's in a great location. Chryssoula was a great host, She was waiting for me down the street to greet me when I arrived. She had fruits and bottles of water in the fridge in the room for me. She was available to answer any of my questions. She had to come down and open my door as I locked myself out and even if it was a little late and I felt sorry, she came and help with a smile. I had a great time and I highly recommand this place

    I recommend this

Lovely regards to Chryssoula a god host and a lovely old lady!

  • We had an unforgettable stay at Chryssuola's! We had a lot of privacy. Still Chryssoula was always ready to help when we needed it.
The location was perfect with the guesthouse being situated in the very old town still on a quiet street so you are not bothered by tourists passing by 24hr a day. It is 3 min to the taxi station and 10 min to the bus station. So it was ideal for us as we spent most of our time travelling around historical sites near Chania.

We would gladly recommend Chryssoula Guest House to all our friends who decide to visit charming Chania. Thank you, Chryssoula! We are sorry for the inconveniences if there were any as we left the room at 4 a.m. in haste. Hope to come back again!

  • It's a very good experience and memory being in Chryssoula's place, now that I have been travelling to more places within this trip. The host is super hospitable, always makes sure that we are at the best conditions. We got the exact room as in the photo, the room is clean and located in a small corner which will give you lots of surprises with the surroundings. The toilet is a bit small but that's fine since we spent most of the time outside and only came back at night.
For anyone still considering whether you should stay at Chryssoula or some place along the beach, my recommendation is Chryssoula since it is just in the old town, the place for tourists, and it's not far from the beach, only 15 mins by bike (you may ask the host and she will be happily to let you borrow hers if the bikes are available) or other means of transportation for tourists are always ready to serve you. Moreover, it's very near the central station which let you go everywhere easily.
The only thing that we found inconvenient at first was the internet connection. It's difficult to get wifi once you're in the room (room 3) but there's a small balcony upstairs for you to sit down, drinking some beer, enjoy the flower and surf the internet. So, inconvenience turned out into a good surprise :)

Hello! I am Chryssoula. I live in Chania's old harbour over the guest house. I speak Greek but I can communicate in English and French. My husband is fond of doing a little gardening in our small vegetable garden and I like sharing the products we make with our guests. I like a good conversation and want to meet people from all over the world.
