Amazing!!! This place was awesome. The pictures are accurate, and the property was so secluded and relaxing. The frogs croaking at night didn't bother us, but they provide ear plugs if you need them. They had everything you need for a day at the beach. VERY very clean and great location away from everything but not too far to go grab dinner. This is a wonderful place to relax. Connie met us when we arrived - she showed us around to help make us comfortable and then she took off reminding us she was available 24/7 if necessary. We had no issues at all! highly recommend :)
Wow! What a wonderful experience it was. Special thanks to the nicest neighbors in the world- Terry & Michelle! Highly recommended )))
This place was amazing! The jungle shower was probably our favorite part :) The guest house was equipped with anything and everything you could want. The neighbors who helped us open the house and get settled were unbelievably helpful. The location was perfect; secluded but close enough to the highway and Hilo airport. We definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for the perfect Big Island getaway, and we'll be back :)
The Rainforest Hideaway was outstanding. Andrew and Connie were not available for our arrival but we were met by Terry and Michelle who gave us the keys and rundown of the cottage and area. They were great. They gave us suggestions on places to go and places to eat and gave us there cell numbers and told us to call any time we needed something. The cottage was exceptionally clean and had everything that you would need in the kitchen, bath and bedroom as well as beach towels and snorkeling gear. The cottage is secluded but close to Hilo and all the conveniences. The sounds at night were unbelievable. We both loved the outdoor shower. We used the cottage as a base to drive much of the island and would recommend getting off the beaten path for some of the best scenery. I would recommend this to anyone who likes to be close to nature without being to far away from everything else. We have marked the Big Island off our bucket list and this place made it a great experience. If we make it back to the Big Island, this will be a definite return stay for us. Thanks..
Connie and Andrew were great hosts and have an amazing home in Pāhoa that is truly enchanting. The decor was beautiful and the kitchen and bathroom was stocked with everything we needed to have a relaxing and fun few days/nights. Sunscreen? They had it. Pots and pans to cook dinner? They had that too. Beach mats and snorkel gear? Yep they had that as well. :)
Connie and Andrew were super informative of things to do around the island and were always available if we needed something. We felt very safe at the rainforest hideaway and already talked about wanting to visit again when we make another trip to the big island. Loved our stay and will recommend to friends and family!
Wow is this place amazing, like the bargain of the century amazing. I've seen similar properties at hotels renting for 500-800 a night and they'd be worth it if they're like this. You stay in the entire home, on a beautiful private property surrounded by tropical flowers and vegetation. There's an amazing outdoor shower, barbeque, deck chairs, robes to lounge around in, clawfoot tub, full kitchen, beautiful bed, amazing zen-like furnishings, etc etc!!!
The downside? You might not want to explore the Big Island when your accomodations are so inviting and beautiful. Tough life!
The windows are mostly screens, so you're goinng to hear the frogs at night and it may get cool inside, but just snuggle closer and put your earplugs (thoughtfully provided) in. We slept amazingly well every night we were there.
Hosts left a bottle of wine and a box of Mauna Loa macadamia nut chocolate for us, which was a really lovely touch. There are also a bunch of soaps and shampoos and suntan lotions which I guess were left by previous guests, so don't run out and buy a bunch before coming here. There also may be leftover coffee in the freezer, which is a nice surprise the first morning!
All in all I believe this is one of the best accomodations I've ever stayed in, at any price point.
Connie and Andrew were waiting for us at the property on arrival, showed us where to find many key items, how to work the wi-fi, and where to find beach supplies as well. The indoor and outdoor were as advertised, plus lovely landscaping appropriate for the jungle atmosphere, and several stunning fresh cut floral arrangements added charm. The kitchen and bathroom are well-stocked with many thoughtful details not found in most airbnb properties. We appreciated these. It's a peaceful place to settle in, with a counterpoint of the voluminous song of coqui frogs from dusk well into the night. The neighborhood at the time we stayed is mostly undeveloped early successional forest with a smattering of homes built into the forest here and there.
