The house is perfect for families and groups of friends. The area is a paradise for wine and food lovers, with hundreds of great wineries and restaurants. We are happy to help you plan where to visit and what to do! You can even arrange a cooking lesson, or private chef at the Villa.

We often welcome cyclists and walkers. The road cycling around the house is spectacular and we can help you plan routes (there are several in our digital guide). The mountain biking is pretty good too if that's your thing! There is a lockable storeroom where you can keep your bikes, available on request. For walkers, you can head straight from the garden into the vines, where two footpaths take you to Novello in about half an hour, and then on to La Morra, Barolo or Monforte d'Alba. Maps are available and we are always happy to help.

There are cycle, e-bike and Vespa hire companies who will deliver to the house.

The house sleeps 10 people in five bedrooms, though there are two further single beds and two cribs that can be added to any of the rooms, bringing the total number to 12, including children. If you are more than 10 (excluding children under the age of 6), there is a supplement of 10 Euros per night for the 11th and 12th guests.

We have updated our procedures to be COVID-ready! If you would like more details, please just ask. We have also created a new digital housemanual and guidebook, which you will have access to as soon as you book. It contains everything you need to know about the Villa and the local area and will help you plan for your time here.

Where you’ll be

Novello, Piemonte, Italy

The house is in the countryside, nestled among the Barolo vines in a peaceful, yet well-connected, location. There are a number of walking paths through the vines and on country roads which run straight by the house. You can walk to Novello (a hilly 35 minutes), Barolo, La Morra or Monforte d'Alba, all on vineyard tracks and quiet country lanes.

There are also lots of great wineries within walking (or very short driving) distance where you can spend your afternoons tasting the local wines and chatting with the producers.

The nearest small grocery store is just a couple of minutes' drive away, in the hamlet of Vergne, where you will also find our nearest restaurant - Buon Padre.

The closest towns are Novello, Barolo and La Morra, each around five minutes in a car. Novello is just about the closest and, though small, it boasts a castle, four top quality restaurants, a wine bar, café, wine shop, bread shop, pharmacy, grocery store and a community wine cellar.

La Morra is larger and has a great array of wine bars, restaurants and cafés. There is a small supermarket, butcher, bread shop, gastronomia and a wonderful wine cellar. Barolo is a wine-lover's paradise, with tasting rooms, a huge wine cellar, restaurants and dozens of wineries. There is also the Wine Museum and the rather quirky Corkscrew Museum, great for rainy days.

Ten minutes away is Monforte d'Alba, one of the area's most beautiful villages, which again has some great restaurants and wine bars, as well as a small amphitheatre which boasts wonderful views of the whole area and often hosts theatre and live music.

Further afield - Alba (which hosts the International White Truffle Fair) is around 15 minutes away, as is Bra (the home of Slow Food). Mondoví is around 30 minutes. Turin is less than an hour away. If you're feeling energetic, you can be hiking in the mountains in just under an hour and the Ligurian coast is also around 60 minutes away.

My husband and I moved to Piemonte in 2012, found our piece of paradise in the vineyards of the Langhe and set about an extensive renovation. It took a while and gave us a few good stories to tell, but finally it's done! Now, we (we also have a daughter now!) welcome guests who want to experience this Italian paradise for themselves!
