The second floor of a private home with your own bedroom, bath and living room (or extra bedroom). Fabulous location close to trains, bars, restaurants, stores, Prospect Park, and everything you need or want. Nice tree lined street in an upscale, family neighborhood. Very quiet and private. Plus you are invited to to share my Kitchen, TV room, and patio. Manhattan is just 20 minutes away.

The space

Private floor of a brooklyn row house. Two rooms separated by original sliding doors. Front room has two day beds, a piano and seating area. The back room is a bedroom with a queenside bed, dresser and a writing desk. There is a closet and bathroom in the hallway. Very private. The house entrance is on the street level under the steps. The entrance is shared but you can go right upstairs if you want privacy as no one but my guests use the second floor. All guests are welcome to share my TV room, dining area, kitchen (refrigerator) and backyard patio. Very clean with plenty of blankets, pillows, and towels.. The bathroom is fully supplied with hairdryer, shampoo and conditioner so you may travel light. Just ask if there is something you need. There is also a 24 hour pharmacy just on the corner.
You may arrive anytime day or night, however I need to know your estimated time of arrival so I may have someone available to let you inside. It is a private home.
Check out is at 11:00 and check in is after 3:00. I will need time to clean the rooms between guests. Early arrival? NO Problem; come leave your bags, or stay and rest downstairs until the upstairs guests are out and the room is cleaned. The neighborhood of Park Slope is a safe, very diverse, upscale, family friendly neighborhood. I am close to Prospect Park, bars, restaurants, stores, and easy access to the F, R & G subway trains. Manhattan is a quick 20 minute ride to downtown or a 35 minute ride to times square.
From those trains you can get to other trains and go anywhere in the city. If you need help navigating just ask!
It is also possible to arrange babysitting if you wish to go out at night.
Prospect Park has many beautiful walking paths, playgrounds, a small zoo, historic Lefferts house, a carousel, Audobon Center, ice skating in the winter, roller skating in summer, and concerts on Friday nights in the summer.
A mile away (nice walk through the park) is the Brooklyn Museum, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

Guest access

This is my private home. I share my downstairs TV/living room, dining area, kitchen and backyard patio with my guests.
The 2nd floor bedroom, bath and living room are totally private.

Interaction with guests

I am happy to share my home and city with guests. Feel free to share a movie on TV or relax with a glass of wine in front of the fireplace on a cold night.
If you would like my opinion on places to go and what to see while in New York, I am more than happy to help. I have lived here for 40 years.
If privacy is what you need, you can go directly upstairs to the second floor with minimal interaction. You have my phone number if you need anything.

Other things to note

Families are welcome, but I do have antiques so I ask people to be repectful of the furniture. I have a pack and play crib if you bring a baby as well as a
feeding chair that attaches to a regular dinning chair.

We stayed here a week in August, family of three. The place is great, you have your own floor (two rooms and bathroom) plus you can use Christines kitchen and garden as you please. Park Slope is a great area, and great restaurants, shops, the park etc. is just around the corner. Great local feel. Manhattan just 15 minutes away by subway. Christine is a great host, really enjoyed our conversations over morning coffee and her suggestions as a NYC native were very good and useful. Highly recommended.

Christine was a delightful host. The place was beautiful, beds were comfortable, and easy access to the kitchen. She was available any time we had a need. The backyard is a beautiful place to sit outside and eat. The neighborhood was great as well. I highly recommend staying here and will definitely come back.

Christine is a very open and hands-on person and above all, super friendly! Her house is very nice and just down the street from the trains. Trains get you to Manhattan in about 20 Minutes and go 24/7. It is also very quiet, so no train or car noise at all times while we were in the house. You can even let the birds wake you. Its really great and - at least for us - unexpected in this huge city. The neighborhood is nice as well with shops and everything you need just a few corners away. We were really happy and I would return there without hesitation.

As a business traveller, Christine's home was an excellent home-from-home for me in Brooklyn. I particularly appreciated the very spacious and comfortable rooms, which are fully private and quiet. The bed was great, the shower magnificent, and the wifi is terrific, which you don't find in all rental or Airbnb homes. The walk to the subway takes only minutes, and the easy availability of both F and R trains was very useful. Also very helpful to have eating places just around the corner so I could pop out when I got back from the city. And when I had a day off, I could just walk a few blocks to Prospect Park. Christine was personally very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble for her. In short, a highly recommended destination - one of the best Airbnb homes I've stayed in.

What a delight to find Christine's home. It is truly a comfortable, pleasant home. Spotless clean. We had an entire floor to ourselves, a lovely bathroom and sitting room. The Park Slope location was perfect for us. On one corner of the block is a 24 hour pharmacy and on the other end of the block a delicious bagel deli. Christine has a back yard patio space that looks like something out of House and Garden magazine. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Staying at Christine's was like a taste of "living" in NYC. A nice typical (?) Brooklyn residential area where you could walk, ride the subway or take a citi-bike to just about anything; the great park just up the street, the Brooklyn Museum, Library or Botanical Garden, etc. (Of course a cab is always available, too...) And with Christine as your guide, you can't go wrong. Just what I look for in a get away!

Great stay! The room and the bathroom were fantastically clean and beautiful. Christine makes a great host, very generous with all her knowledge about the city. The neighborhood is very nice, and public transport is just around the corner. Definitely recommended.

Christine User ProfileChristine is a superhost.

I have worked, raised children, and lived in Park Slope Brooklyn for more than thirty years. I enjoy walking in Prospect Park and the Botanical Gardens, meeting my friends for coffee, going to the theater, museums or art galleries. I like to draw, listen to music, and work in my little garden as well as travel and meet new people.
