Great location

Country house with one-bedroom, full kitchen and bath, covered parking in the Village on Sewanee Creek, a sustainable community on Tennessee's Eco-Rich Cumberland Plateau. Hike miles of wooded trails. It's a short walk to our private 50-foot waterfall.

The space
Our spectacular waterfall is just 400 feet from the back deck. The core of our 640 square ft. guest house is two CONEX shipping containers, but you'll have to look hard to see it. The warm pine interior, fireplace, large picture windows and French doors opening onto the deck, pond and wooded waterfall trail give it the feel of a cozy country log cabin. It's our "backup house", an experiment in sustainable living just across the breezeway from the main house, but very private.
Large kitchen with full sized oven/range and refrigerator, bathroom with shower/tub, bedroom with loft- 2 beds (single and double), living /dining room, reclining leather couch.
Covered parking for one car. Gas barbecue and firepit on the deck.
Enjoy weekend live entertainment at Monteagle's Smoke House,
Fine Dining at Tracy's Tea House or Monteagle's High Point. Breakfast or lunch at historical Dutch Maid bakery - oldest bakery in the South.
Visit the hub of South Cumberland's State Parks at the Visitor's Center. Schedule a ranger-guided hike of world famous Fiery Gizzard Trail, Stone door or one of the other eight State Parks within 45 minutes. Arrange a canoe expedition on Grundy Lakes, just 2 miles from our front door.

Guest access
Follow the trail along the creek leading to our private 50' waterfall. Just outside your window.
Bring your Mountain Bikes for outdoor adventure on our private mountain bike trails. Bring your 4 wheelers, RZR's Rock Crawlers and ATV's for world class off-road adventure at Coalmont's new Off-Road Park. The entry pount is just down the street.
Hike miles of trails on the bluff or take the short trail that winds to the bottom and behind Miller's Falls. Then drop 800 feet through the canyon along more cascades and waterfalls to Sewanee Creek.

Other things to note
Eight amazing State parks within half an hour with daily guided hikes and sustainability instruction.
Bluegrass Underground Caves (Pelham, TN) about 30 minutes.
The University of the South (Sewanee) just 25 minutes.
BONAROO - Only 25 minutes away (Manchester, TN)

We live in a sustainable village that we founded, filled with loving, caring neighbors. Each in their own way is working towards self-sufficiency within a tight-knit community. We build our own houses, help each other with many projects, raise our own food, keep goats and chickens, maintain a large greenhouse, experiment with alternative energy, capture the rain from our roofs and enjoy life together. The Village features a large amphitheater with stage, barbecue facilities, gazebos and an outdoor, large screen projection theater.

I'm a semi-retired executive refugee from the world of big brand international retail franchising. Past Int'l Sr. exec. of Papa John's, Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins. I have traveled throughout the world, speak Japanese, was educated in Hawaii, love surfing, catamaran sailing, off-roading, building and welding stuff and being outdoors in the mountains, beach or wherever nature whispers peace or shouts adventure. I left the corporate world in 2006 to build and curate an "Intentional Community" / Eco-Village called the Village on Sewanee Creek. You can read about me and our (Email hidden by Airbnb) and TNw (Website hidden by Airbnb) I'm a jazz saxophonist. So the first thing I built in the Village was an amphitheater with a large stage and an enclosed backstage that houses a large BBQ, foosball and ping pong tables and a huge screen for outdoor movies under the stars. I also used to develop Blockbuster Video franchises around the world, so I guess that's where I inherited a love for home theater. Independence day is our biggest celebration of the year with entertainment, fireworks and a gut-busting potluck picnic at the Commons/Amphitheater facility. All are welcome to join us. If you are an accomplished musician or even just pretty good, you are welcome to perform on the Village stage. Singer/Songwriters will also enjoy the tranquility of covered decks on the treehouse, Log Cabin or Eco-container Cabin or at our 50 foot waterfall. We enjoy hanging out with interesting people who have their own stories to tell. Sometimes we invite guests to join us in the main house for dinner or a movie on our indoor home theater. The motto of the Village on Sewanee Creek is "In harmony with nature and people". We look forward to enjoying your company and hope you will love our little slice of heaven on the Cumberland Plateau as much as we do.
