About this listing
Large bedroom with private bath (shower, no tub). High ceilings lots of windows, private entry, bamboo floors, eco house. Radiant heating. Very spacious. No poisons used in household. WiFi. Double glass doors open to patio and the back yard looking out at oak trees. King Bed. Beautiful room although some of the 'finished' work is unfinished. House is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Sonoma. Walking distance to several eateries including a great beer pub, pizza, Mexican and Thai restaurants and the local coffee roaster cafe. Also walking distance to the theater, second hand store, dollar store and delicious ice cream store and produce market.
Walk or drive to downtown and enjoy food, wine and shopping. Visit any of the truly great retailers including SIGH, a sparkling wine bar or La Bogeda, just two of the truly unique offerings on the square.
The house is a green built home made of straw bales. Warm and cozy, quiet and serene.
Hosts will provide towels, linens and privacy. We can suggest many local eateries as well as wine tasting options and entertainment resources. We can recommend spas for massages and hiking trails within a short walk or easy car ride away.
You won't find a TV or a kitchen, just very reasonably priced accommodations.
Sonoma has a lot to do so come enjoy the town for a weekend or extended stay.
We have recently modified out check out time, moving it 1 hour sooner to 11am. We find this works for the majority of our guests and allows us better opportunity to manage the room.
They will have access to a room and bath that are separated from the rest of the house and not shared.
Interaction with Guests
We're happy to say hello, but find that most of the time our guests are as busy as we are and we seldom cross paths. We don't require our guests to "check in" and generally this seems to work, with many of our guests arriving quite late after a day of travel and dinner on the square.
Public transportation is mostly non-existent. There are taxi services and the town is small enough that biking is quite doable.
Quiet after 10pm, we try to keep our noise down until after 8am as well. We are early birds.
Steve and his wife were very welcoming. The room was amazing and very comfortable with a great bathroom too. Neighbourhood was peaceful and a 40 minute walk to Sonoma Plaza. Would definitely recommend!
I thought the space was really nice and loved all the little touches in the room. There were brochures provided as well as a coffee maker and wine glasses. The bed was also super comfortable! However, it was well over 100 degrees during my stay and not having any AC was brutal. The one fan in the room was definitely not enough. My boyfriend and I were on a long road trip and didn't necessarily want to be eating out every night because it gets expensive. I totally understand not wanting to share kitchen space with complete strangers so when I asked Steve if it would be ok to use his stove I understand the no answer. However, I did feel as if his wife was very condescending and rude to me as she shook her head no. I did not feel welcome in their space after being treated in that manner. My boyfriend did accidentally break one of the wine glasses provided in the room during the middle of the night trying to find his way to the bathroom in the dark which we felt bad about. My stay overall wasn't bad but just based on how I was treated I wouldn't stay at the space again.
Steve and Andrea are lovely people. We stayed two nights at there home. It was great and as described. The communication went easily and Steve gave us many tips. I can highly recommend this room!
Terrific spot, very private and quiet. This is just what we were looking for!
Steve and Andrea were very sweet and accommodating. We had a very late arrival due to flight delays :( and got right in and were asleep in minutes :)
The description and pictures are very accurate. We had a very nice stay. The bedroom was huge, comfortable and quiet, and the bathroom was really nice--loved the walk-in shower. Shampoo, soap, and towels were plentiful. They provided EXCELLENT freshly-ground coffee for the coffee maker in the bathroom. We did not use up the whole container, but they offered to refill it if needed.
There is not a refrigerator, but they provided a cooler and we bought ice to keep leftovers overnight. With the heat wave in CA, the room did get a bit warm during the day, but was tolerable with the fan provided. Nights were nice and cool (and dry) with the windows opened.
Their home is on a very quiet street with a number of things within walking distance, including the BEST donut place we have ever been to (Danish & Donuts). Had we been staying longer, we would have rented bikes to explore more of the neighborhood. We also would have spent more time lounging on the wonderful patio, playing with the cats!
I only wish we could have planned a longer vacation there--we'd definitely stay here again if we come back to the area.
Super nice large room and bath with a wonderful patio! Very clean and comfortable. Quiet and peaceful, and Steve was super helpful with dinner and outing ideas! What a great way to explore Sonoma!! Thanks Steve for your part in making our vacation super!
Room looks just like the photos. It is spacious and clean with a large, tiled bathroom. The hosts emailed very thorough instructions for arrival. The exterior is a little rough, but once inside the room, it's comfortable. In a good location close to Sonoma.
