  • Dan and Naoko are wonderful hosts with a very comfortable B&B. The room I had (The Sun Room) was spacious and airy. It had its own sink (but the toilet and shower are next door and are shared with other guests). The bed is comfy and warm (although June weather in Victoria is not that harsh). I was planning on renting a bike from a commercial place in town but Dan was able to fix one of his existing bikes. Assuredly it was not new and shiny and not of TdF quality but it was OK for getting around town. Plus he provided a lock and a hockey helmet so you will look like an authentic Canadian! Besides the facilities, I like that Dan and Naoko's place is only three blocks from the Inner Harbour (and the ferry terminal), that it's close to Beacon Hill Park (a nice place to hang out) and that there is a 24-hour supermarket just a few blocks away. Overall, a nice place to stay!

  • Dan and Naoko were very warm and friendly. They are flexible to meet our needs. The locatin of the house is very close to downtown and Beacon Hill Park; however, it was still very quiet at night. Naoko prepared delicious breakfast for us, We enjoyed meeting other guests in the house at breakfast time. Dan's sharing of his interest in polo was very stimulating. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

  • The Carriage House is a perfect location if you do not have a car and want to explore downtown Victoria on foot. I had a large room with plenty of space. The hosts, Dan and Naoko are very kind and gracious. They provided me with a simple breakfast in the morning and plenty of coffee. Great conversations to be had around the dining room table. Highly recommend it and reasonably priced.

  • Six weeks away from the birth of my first child, I decided that I needed to get away for a weekend to visit family and friends on my own. Though I grew up in Victoria, I wanted a place to retreat to for some solitary time, and Dan and Naoko provided the perfect solution with the Carriage House.

The Sun Room was nothing fancy but clean and cozy with a comfortable bed. Though the bathroom was shared, having a vanity sink in my room was a welcome perk. Dan and Naoko were warm and friendly, their small son was hilarious, clever, and sweet, and breakfast was delicious. Because I had to leave extra-early after my last night, they graciously packed me a to-go breakfast. They also gave me the space I needed to have some time on my own.

For travellers who aren't familiar with Victoria, the Carriage House B & B is perfectly located within a 10 minute walk of downtown AND right next door to Beacon Hill Park, James Bay, and Dallas Road, all must-visit spots in the city. There is truly no need for a vehicle if you're staying at the Carriage House: Victoria is made for walking!

  • Great, affordable little B&B within easy walking distance to downtown Victoria. The neighborhood is quaint and safe, so walking at night is no problem. Dan and Naoko were courteous and lovely hosts, with a family atmosphere during breakfast. Not fancy but clean and comfortable. We'll be staying here again.
