This is Bluebird Herb Farm. A well-loved home for our 4 children, it is spacious stylish & easy to live in. Two living rooms - 1 on each floor make this an ideal home for 2 families. Large sized TVs on each floor; 2 bedrms + 2 baths down and 3 bedrms + 1 bath upstairs; a carved staircase and with a painterly tile landing, we have have lots of outdoor space - large decks w/ spectacular views of Taos Mtn, a secluded patio w/ hot tub and grill - 5 miles west of Taos Plaza - w/ ample parking.

The space
Large spacious - 2 living rooms - courtyards- decks - hot tub - privacy - views. Our home started as a small 2 bedroom 2 bath adobe and has now grown to a 2 storey farm house with 5 bedrooms and 3 baths, patios, decks and 2 living rooms. With lots of glass, we built several places to enjoy the views - decks upstairs and down - patios back and front. A unique and steep stair case made from salvaged juniper/cedar trunk takes you upstairs--not for the elderly or mobility challenged. With central AC upstairs to keep you cool during our hottest months of June+July.

Guest access
The entire house is yours - a secluded patio off the dining room; another off the master bedroom with a hot tub; a deck off the second floor; a field to play games or burn off energy; private parking.

Other things to note
As the weather warms up we will continue to landscape the exterior.

Neighborhood highlights

The Colonias Valley lies 3 miles to the west of Taos town on the other side of Blueberry Hill road; it is a mixture of single family homes, some agricultural land and trailer homes. Like so much of Taos this is not a subdivision and it is not manicured - rather it is a mix of modest homes, trailers, and open land. Some of Mike Reynolds very first earth-ships were built next door and just up Verdolaga road are several pit houses and even a meditation pyramid and several dome houses. In the summer you will spot our neighbour riding her tractor tending to her barley or winter wheat planted fields. The blinking light and all the restaturants on the northside are a 10 min drive up Blueberry Hill Road; the nearest grocery stores - Cid's Market, Taos Market, Smith's and Albertson's.

We enjoy eating out - Love Apple, El Meze, Taos Diner and Gutiz on the north side; Common Fire, Medley and Pizanos on the Ski Valley Road, Aceq, Taos Cow and Abe's Cantina in Arroyo Seco; Lambert's, La Cueva, Jalapeno's, Donabe Asian, The Tap Room, Byzantium and Taos Diner near the Plaza; Five Star Burger, the Guadalajara Grill, the Ranchos Grill, El Taoseno, Old Martina's on the southside, Orlando's, Gutiz and The Love Apple on the road north - wow what a selection of places to eat!

Where I went to school: St. John's College Santa Fe, NM
In these parochial times it is worth saying - I immigrated to these United States 40+ years ago; I first came to this strange land of Northern New Mexico to go to college and then fell in love with it. It is a place so unlike anywhere else and it is also so un-American . I left NM for 15 yrs to to do the life of the big city but always felt the pull to return and I have made Taos home since 2002. Travel has always been a big part of my life - I have been to all but 2 states and much of Canada and - also India, Trinidad and Tobago, Ukraine, Poland, Turkey, Paris, the Netherlands, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Spain, Portugal, Italy, & England. But I am always glad to return to our Valley. Things I love--Taos Ski Valley is one of the great ski mountains of North America and I feel very lucky to be skiing it and learning it and loving it every winter. And then there is mountain biking and hiking and the art and complex and rich culture of northern NM that I love. We have our home in a rambling old adobe that started out in the ~1890s as a couple of weaver's cabins that were slowly transformed into a single home by 1960. We bought this house from an old Austrian lady who had filled it with the stories of her amazing life in the shape of antiques - old bibles from the beginning of the printing press; rugs; art - a Renoir, Hokusai prints and Klimt drawings. We have been hosts since 2004 - long before the arrival of this airbnb portal and so we can claim to be experts - our guide in this -- as in so much of life - is the principle of do unto others as u would have done to oneself. Which means that our homes are warm, welcoming, artfully assembled, and comfortable. Welcome to Taos!
