Huge peaceful modern space in great neighborhood.

The Space

Beautiful Private Master Bedroom, Private Bathroom in Art Building!!!

Everything you could want out of a visit to Brooklyn! Brooklyn has become more of a destination spot in some ways than Manhattan, and this is one of the best spots in Brooklyn. You will be in the heart of Bushwick, an amazing, Hispanic, ethnic neighborhood with grit, graffiti, style, and art seeping out of its pores!

The Building:
*amazing rooftop with grills (charcoal provided), views of Manhattan skyline, rocking double-seater chairs
*green architect-designed modern courtyard
*large lobby with piano, art gallery
*modern private gym
*elevator building to rooftop
*community space around the building
*media lab with 2 iMacs for you to surf web, etc.
*movie theatre with DVD
*game room with air hockey, pool, ping pong, foos ball
*nighttime doorman

The Neighborhood:
Bushwick is an awesome Brooklyn neighborhood with plenty of street art, hispanic bodegas, restaurants, art galleries, bars, and cafes. It is a few minutes walk to the M, J, Z and L trains. The J will take you into the Lower East Side in 2 stops!

The Room/Apartment:
The apartment itself is beautiful and modern, with a full kitchen, stone counter-tops, dishwasher, kitchen island and nice appliances. The bedroom has a large closet and a private full bathroom. There is a queen-sized pillow-top bed, heater/A/C large windows with two sets of shades--one for privacy, one to block out light, beautiful plants, and a large couch in the bedroom which could be used for sleeping. There is also a 50" Plasma TV with Netflix in the room, across from the couch. Sheets and towels provided. Bicycle may be provided if desired.

I do have roommates though they are rarely around, keep to themselves, (and have their own bathroom).

Guest Access

Private bed queen mattress with frame, private bathroom, some closet space, kitchen (with some reasonable restrictions), the whole building's amazing amenities!

Also the common area in the apartment and if you hang out there it is expected to be polite, neat and thoughtful. Enjoy the space!

Interaction with Guests

You likely won't see a lot of the awesome friendly artists who live there depending on your schedule. They have their own busy lives in the city and don't really have guests over.

The Neighborhood

So much, the murals, the crazy bars and performances, the nightlife, the mixture of different folks, the cafés and shops. It's very neighborhoody aka residential but with lots to do and you have lots of great things and all the stores you need. You have both gourmet and also cheap and they come (amazing super cheap fresh juice for example)...

Getting around

Yes! Aside from buses (who takes those?) the L, J, M and Z trains are all within easy walking distance. You can also easily get a cab ride here of course. In fact depending on traffic you can get to/from JFK or Laguardia quickly (under half hour without much traffic)

  • Unfortunately I didn't get to meet Clay in person, but he was absolutely amazing in his communication and was able to accommodate me with only a days notice. He was super friendly and responded to my queries instantly.
The apartment was without a doubt the nicest place I've stayed in New York.. The bedroom was spacious and tastefully decorated.. And having a private bathroom was a treat! What made this place really stand out was the rooftop... Wow.. Amazing views of surrounding Brooklyn and the entire Manhattan skyline. There tenants courtyard is also brilliant, and there's a sweet games room with pool table and ping pong.
The local area is great! Easy access to a few different train stations, as well as heaps of cool cafes, restaurants and bars.
Basically I never wanted to leave.. It really was that good!

When I was a boy my father hosted guests--cartographers from Scandanavia! Physicians from eastern Europe!... And I will never forget how it expanded my world. I love to travel and as I have not yet found a way to travel and earn an income or live without one, hosting is the next best thing. Of course, the primary reason for hosting is to help pay my own NYC rent =) I am busy, with work, with fun, with friends, with watching the sun come up and go down from a Brooklyn beach or rooftop and with my strange new love of climbing up faux rock faces. I am easy-going with attention to detail. I am a good host and happy to give travelers a place to call home for a stint. I like nature, coffee, traveling, international gourmet veggie cuisine, and art of all shapes and (website hidden): my Spanish is paltry just in case you were getting excited.
