Designed as a private family retreat, nestled at the end of a winding road leading up a coastal hill. With stunning uninterupted views overlooking Iritahama beach and stretching out to the nearby Izu Shoto islets, sounds of the distant ocean waves crashing and local wildlife will ensure you reconnect with nature - a stark contrast to Tokyo’s urban lifestyle. Allow yourself to be woken up to bird song, watch troops of monkeys or wild boar which are often be seen / heard in the surrounding forrest

The space
The 205 sqm contemporary space is centred around the open plan living / dining / kitchen area upstairs and an amazing spa “onsen style” bathroom downstairs.

The living rooms’ south facing, floor to ceiling windows are set to create that “wow” feeling as you enter from the lobby and the fully retractable terrace sliding doors allow for inside / outside living. Enjoy cooking in the fully equipped island kitchen space whilst the children enjoy playing in the play area. The large outside terrace is perfectly suited for enjoying BBQ feasts, practising meditation or yoga, star gazing, or simply relaxing with a glass of wine as the sun sets. For additional entertainment there is an internet connected TV, bluetooth connected sound system with ceiling speakers and a small selection of books and board games

With a 3 meter high ceiling, the completely private spa bath area is designed to feel like a cave overlooking a green forrest. A sunken 3 person spa bath takes centre stage along with both indoor and outdoor rain showers. Enjoy a leisurely soak with jacuzzi or invigorating head and back massage from the water outlet in the ceiling. Light some candles and incense to complete the spa ambiance.

Regarded as one of the best surf beaches in Izu, the golden sands of Iritahama are just 4 minutes drive. Many other beaches are easily accessible and the facilities of Shimoda town are a short 10 minutes drive away.

Queen size double bed with floor to ceiling windows which enjoy a dramatic forrest, beach and sea view. Plenty of clothes storage with a walk-in closet.

Other things to note
Access is along a very steep hill. Whilst you can walk up, it is quite challenging and we recommend using a car. Very low riders may struggle over the speed bumps.

Although we make every effort to minimise insect activity, with the house so close to nature there will be occasions where they enter the house. Particularly at night if windows are left open with house lights on.

house has dual voltage to accommodate Japan / US and UK / Europe electrical items

The local area is well known for its summertime activities however it’s also worth considering autumn or spring time; Almost no crowds, nice weather and many activities such as hiking, tennis, horse riding, mountain biking, fishing, boat trips etc
