We've just come back from spending 6 weeks in Peio at Flavio and Manu's apartment. The best thing I can say to do it justice is that we have had some of the best time of our lives there. The village and the setting is just stunning - the view of the mountains so beautiful in the plentiful snow. Peio is a 'real' place, not a skiing or tourist resort. Having said that, there are many very good skiing areas nearby. We loved Passo Tonale and Ponte di Legno in particular, but Peio Fonti is nice for a short day - do go up to 3000 m on the gondola, it's well worth the wait. Generally, you can do fantastic downhill, cross-country and 'alpine skiing' which, unfortunately, we only 'discovered' towards the end - try it if you like to walk through pristine snow through peaceful woods in the mountains! We can imagine that the Stelvio National Park, where Peio is situated, is also beautiful the rest of the year without snow, with plenty of challenging, and less so, stunning walks, cycling and climbing. The apartment is really spacious - the bedroom is big with plenty of storage space. The living/kitchen area is very comfortable and light with everything you need in it (the sofa bed is very large as is the main double bed, so bring King size linen or your sheets won't fit!). There is a very sunny terrace all around the apartment where we enjoyed sitting out, even in the cold! Peio has all the basics you may need, although shopping is better down in Cogolo, 10 mins down the hill by car, specially the bread. Also, we thoroughly recommend the Albergo San Rocco at the top of Peio Paese (village) for wonderful traditional local food. In Peio Fonti, the next village down the road, there is an excellent spa where you can treat yourself after a hard day's skiing or walking. Also, try the Pasticceria della Nonna for lovely cakes. The only thing to bear in mind in this area is that having your own car would really help if you are staying for more than a few days and want to go to different places. However, the free 'Ski bus' service is excellent. Finally, what to say about Flavio and Manu? Well, they were wonderful and couldn't do enough for us. So kind, friendly and easy. We can't wait to go back next year - this time for longer! We will be meeting friends again and will be staying home from home. Thank you Flavio and Manu!

Fully furnished, spacious and clean appartment with a beautiful large-balcony view on the village of Pejo and its surrounding mountains. Flavio gave us a warm welcome and was quick to respond to any questions.
