The Space

One of the most affordable places to stay in Bali, with one of the biggest rooms and bed you could ever imagine...

At a glance, the room features:

■ Private room, with en-suite bathroom and hot water shower
■ FREE breakfast with a restaurant on site
■ short walk to the beach on Bali's north coast
■ FREE wifi internet available through our property and inside guest rooms
■ Small refrigerator with freezer in the room
■ Swimming pool
■ Television with DVD player in the room
■ Safety deposit box
■ Huge room with lounge area
■ Very quiet and relaxing location overlooking a rice field
■ Small, four room complex with the owners living on-site
■ FREE usage of two mountain bikes
■ A range of tour and activity options availble for a reasonable cost

We are a small family run guesthouse on the north coast of Bali, located in the fishing village of Anturan and just a short walk to the beach. We are a little over 2km from central Lovina, 6km from the town of Singaraja and roughly a 3 hour drive from Bali's international airport.

We are in a quiet and peaceful location, far removed from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist centers in Bali.

We have a relaxing pool to cool down in and have free wifi internet. We are internet junkies ourselves, so you can be sure our connection is fast and reliable. It won't be as quick as what you are probably used to in your home country, but it is usually good for (website hidden)ing and Facetime.

This room is one of four rooms in our complex. This room has a huge king size bed, air-conditioning and safety deposit box. The bathroom is decorated in natural stone and has an open roof and small garden. The shower has electric hot water with good pressure.

Some of our guests who have stayed with us include writers and people who have internet based businesses and they have found it is a quiet and relaxing place to chill out and still get their work done.

We have a small restaurant and feature a range of Balinese and Indonesian dishes. Breakfast is included in the price of the room. We also offer cooking classes for anyone who wants to learn how to cook Indonesian food. Since Anturan is a fishing village, you can be sure that the fish was caught the same day.

We have a brick BBQ for grilling fish or any other meat and a rotisserie for cooking roast chicken or duck.

There are a number of attractions and things to do in the area. Lovina is famous for dolphin trips, which you can book through us. We have motorbikes for rent and we also have two mountain bikes which can be used for free. The area is good for fishing and snorkeling. A trip to Menjangan Island is a must for diving or snorkeling enthusiasts.

Our aim is to provide a quiet and relaxing place to stay, with spotless rooms, friendly service and a range of attractions and experiences to make sure your stay in Bali is a memorable one.

Lovina is about a 3 hour drive from Bali's international airport. The route passes through Bali's cool central mountains and the drive is very scenic and you can even spot monkeys along the way. We can organize our driver to pick you up from the airport or anywhere else in Bali for an additional fee. Contact us for further details.

Guest Access

Guests have access to pretty much all areas of our property, except for our own house and the restaurant kitchen.

Interaction with Guests

We live on the property full-time and are able to help with any questions or problems you might have. We do occasionally go away for travel (we need holidays too!), but we have staff to take care of our guests and we can always be contacted by phone or email. If you would like to know if I will be around during your stay, feel free to send me an email.

The Neighborhood

We love that our area is quiet and peaceful and you can still see traditional Balinese life. The local people are friendly and will stop you for a chat and sometimes even invite you to their house. The beach is great for a quiet drink and watching the sun go down, while be serenaded by local guys strumming away on a sometimes in tune guitar.

Getting around

Small public buses (bemo) travel up and down the main road. We are close to the Perama bus station, which offers a budget shuttle bus service around Bali. We also have our car with driver, who can take you around for a reasonable price. We have parking for several cars and is included in the price. We offer an airport pick up service (not included in the price). We have 2 bicycles for guests to use for free and motorbikes for rent.

Other Things to Note

We have a dog "Aby" but she is friendly and great with kids.

  • Moral of our story: try before you buy! In other words, unless you're absolutely sure this place is for you, book for the minimum stay and then extend (or go elsewhere), depending on how you feel. We made the mistake of booking here for 6 nights, and with a 'strict' cancellation policy, had no 'out' when we realised that it presented more 'cons' than 'pros' for us, and there were better options in the town of Lovina itself.
    - lovely rural setting, peace and quiet in the evenings;
    - spacious room, with desk and chair;
    - great breakfast choices;
    - good value Lovina Day tour (which takes you on a loop tour down to the Bratan Lakes area and back).
    - molestation by mosquitoes on our first night (no mosquito net provided, although the rooms are just metres from rice paddies); - nightly visits to our 'Balinese' (open ceiling) bathroom by a rat, which left droppings on our toilet seat, and chewed our soap bars;
    - nonchalant attitude of the hosts to our concerns about both of the above;
    - inconsistent (poor value for money) pricing of a second (Singaraja) day tour we did, which lasted only half a day;
    - no transport assistance (other than bikes which we felt were not a safe option for us on a busy main road) even though the distance to Lovina central is more than the 1.5 km suggested, the sides of the main road are uneven for walking, and the only public transport options are 'bemos'
    (cramped and charging gullible 'westerners' whatever they like).

  • This was indeed a huge room, with a.c and a big bed. All clean and with very friendly staff. The room we stayed in however had a high humidity, which could be smelled. All in all, a convenient friendly bnb.

  • The owners were away on holiday when we arrived, however; the staff was accommodating during our entire visit. The room is HUGE! Definitely big enough for a family. The pool was great and the restaurant provided a delicious breakfast every morning. They also have a library of books and DVD's that you can use that definitely helped us pass time when it was raining outside. Town is only a 5 minute motorbike ride away and had the best sunsets we saw in Bali. Would definitely recommend this place!

  • Lovina Is right on the other side of the island, we took a taxi to get there the instructions were perfect. A kind dog Ebby greeted us at the fence, our suitcases were brought to the apartment. The room is beautifull and has an open air bathroom with flowering plants growing over the wall. Amanda and Michael are wonderfull people and had good chats with them. The breakfast is beautifull, the pool relaxing and Michaels burger is to die for.
    Thanks for letting us stay it was a wonderfull experience for both of us.

  • Huge room, nice pool and a short walk into lovina. Amanda can organise any sightseeing trips you want to do, which is very helpful and the same price as organising yourself.

  • this guest house is just outside lovina.Iin my opinion it is better to stay outside the town as i spoke to several people who said it was noisy in (website hidden) is cheap for ride into town and back and is only a short walk from the guest house along the beach to a few nice restaurants one of them being villa agung which is right on the beach.The guest house was clean and had nice staff the free breakfast was basic but hey it was free and the veiw over the rice fields was lovely,internet was very good.Its run by an australia and his wife who where both easy to deal with they organized driver to pick us up in seminyak and we saw few sights on the way.we also did few trips to hot springs buddist temple and highlight of trip was day to manjengen island for snorkling cheap lovely day out.would recommend this place
