But if you prefer to see how the real people actually live then there is no better option than renting a home in one of the traditional French villages in the area. Historical Flayosc was one of the favourite retreats of Louis XIV (Louis Dieudonné; 5 September 1638 – 1 September 1715), known as Louis the Great (Louis le Grand) or the Sun King (Roi Soleil). He was a monarch of the House of Bourbon and reigned as King of France from 1643 until his death in 1715.

Flayosc (Provençal: Flaiòsc) is a commune in the Var department in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, in southeastern France, being only 7 km from Draguignan the artillery capital of France, it has been well visited by royalty over the centuries. Located on a rocky hill, with the church at the top, three small rivers cross the village: the Pontchalade, Florieyes and Rimalte, you can still see the original viaduct and castle walls. Being within the Zone Natura 2000, Naturelle d'Intérêt Ecologique, Faunistique et Floristique, the countryside, farms and wineries surrounding the village are protected and very picturesque.

During your stay

Our house manager speaks perfect French and English and is on call to help during your stay. Many of the village shops speak a little English although they can be shy to try it out. Always say bonjour and you'll get a very pleasant reception in all of the Flayosc shops, bakeries and restaurants. A couple of the restaurants are run by Dutch people.
