Tucked along a foot-access-only lane in the heart of Nob Hill, this ground-level guest suite offers a quiet escape without sacrificing any of San Francisco's energy. The lane itself sets the tone - calm, unhurried, and removed from the noise - while the city's cable cars, cafes, and iconic neighborhoods sit just minutes away on foot or by transit. Step inside and San Francisco's crisp winter air gives way to steady warmth, a comfortable bed, and a space that invites you to slow down.
Suite & living space
The entire guest suite is yours - private entrance, private bathroom, and a layout that gives two guests room to breathe. A relaxed living area anchors the space, with a 32-inch TV with Roku for evenings in, comfortable seating to read or unwind, and a dining table that doubles as a workspace when needed. A dedicated workspace and WiFi keep you connected without the suite ever feeling like an office.
Sleeping arrangements
The separate bedroom is dressed with cotton linens and includes both a closet and dresser for storage - a small detail that makes a real difference on longer stays. The layout keeps sleeping and living areas distinct, so two guests can move through the space comfortably without getting in each other's way.
Kitchen & dining
The kitchenette is well-stocked for everyday needs. A refrigerator, freezer, microwave, toaster, blender, and hot water kettle cover the essentials, while cooking basics, dishes, silverware, wine glasses, and a coffee maker mean mornings can start without a detour. Whether you're heating up leftovers from one of Nob Hill's nearby restaurants or assembling a quiet breakfast before heading out, the setup supports a flexible routine.
Bathroom
The full bathroom includes both a bathtub and a shower - a welcome combination after long walks through the city's hills. Shampoo, conditioner, body soap, shower gel, a hair dryer, and hot water are all provided, so you can pack light and arrive ready.
Outdoor space
Just beyond the suite, a shared patio offers outdoor seating and a dining area - a pleasant spot to step outside with a warm drink, catch some air between outings, or linger over a slow morning. Outdoor furniture makes the space usable year-round, weather permitting.
Location & access
With a Walk Score of 96 and a Transit Score of 100, very little requires a car. Buses and the cable car are steps away, connecting you to Chinatown, North Beach, Union Square, the Financial District, and beyond in minutes. Self check-in via lockbox means arrivals are flexible and stress-free, and a nearby laundromat supports guests staying for an extended stretch. Grace Cathedral and the Fairmont Hotel are landmark neighbors; good coffee and established local dining are even closer.

Guest access
Guests have access to the lower part of the condo, through the backyard patio.
We (Mary & Dave) live upstairs on the second floor and have called this home for many years. We’re always happy to connect and share tips about life in the city if you’d like—but we also respect our guests’ privacy.
For your convenience, we recommend parking in one of the nearby public garages, as street parking can be challenging and typically short-term. You’ll find a list of garages in the house manual, or feel free to contact the host before your arrival for options.
Although our apartment is located on a secluded pedestrian lane in Nob Hill, you’re in the heart of San Francisco! Several bus lines and the cable car are just steps away, providing easy access to the entire city.
With a walk score of 96, you’ll enjoy fantastic walkability—just be prepared for a few hills along the way!
You’ll have a private entrance with a keypad for easy check-in.
Other things to note
This cozy lower-level part of the condo includes a locked door in the bedroom that leads to a small garage area. You may hear the upstairs neighbors car come and go from time to time, but they do not have access to the apartment. We apologize in advance if this disturbs you in any way, it's usually just 5 minutes once or twice a day.
As it’s situated below street level, it may not receive a lot of natural light.
There is no stove, but we do have a microwave, hot plate and toaster for cooking.
While there is no door between the bedroom and living room, you’re welcome to use the room divider provided for added privacy during your stay.
We do our best to accommodate LUGGAGE STORAGE when possible, but it isn’t always guaranteed. If needed, you can use a convenient service like BOUNCE, which provides secure luggage storage at nearby locations so you can enjoy your time without carrying bags around.
When not traveling and we are upstairs, feel free to come say hi.
This a quiet area of The City with noise control rules that restrict loud, late gatherings.
Street parking can be difficult to find, so we don’t recommend relying on it. There are several public garages near by. Let us know if you need recommendations.
