The Poet's Studio is a peaceful retreat in the heart of Tucson. The studio shares the private, walled 1/3 acre lot, courtyard and pool with two other structures: a second, working studio and the original mud-adobe home built in the 1940s.
The studio is crafted in the classic Santa Fe style, built of sun-dried adobe with a corner beehive fireplace. You will have private views out both windows, with a mountain view to the north and a view overlooking the pool to the east. The unheated "Plunge Pool" is just swimmable (4-1/2 feet deep) and reaches temperatures in the 80s during the summer.
The studio boasts a 3/4 bath with a walk-in spa shower and a modern, well-appointed kitchenette. Additional amenities include air conditioning and heating, high speed wireless internet, iHome radio for your iPhone, wireless capable flat screen TV (use your NetFlix account!) with Direct-TV., professional induction hotplate, Kuerig coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, Cuisinart gas BBQ and solar panels.
The space is well-equipped. Upon your arrival, you will find coffee, Tucson Tamale Company green corn tamales, granola bars, fruit and chocolate to get you started. I also provide drinking water from Aqua Vita (distilled, magnetically treated) given the tap water is chlorinated and quite mineral-rich. Soaps, dishes, pots and pans, pool towels, robes, hair dryer, iron, even bikes you can borrow. I have tried to think of everything, but if you find you are missing something, I have an entire house full of stuff next door - just ask!
The property is a surprising oasis right in the middle of Tucson. Located in the Poets Corner neighborhood, a convenient midtown area close to everything -- just off the 3rd street bike path, 2.5 miles east of the University of Arizona and 4.5 miles east of downtown Tucson.
We are within 2 miles of great restaurants (Zaynas, Feast, Kazoku, Lodge on the Desert, Old Pueblo Grille), groceries (Whole Foods and Sprouts), cinemas (El Con and Loft) shopping (Target, El Con Mall, CVS),and parks (Alvernon neighborhood park, Reid Park, Reid Park Zoo (like a mini San Diego Zoo!), Randolph Tennis and Golf Center) and the Tucson Botanical Gardens. You will love the serenity, the classic charm, and the convenience.
During your stay, you will access the studio through a private side yard. A covered car port is dedicated for your vehicle.
Rates are seasonal: Summer (June 1 to August 31: 75-day/475-wk), Spring/Fall (April 1 to May 31 and September 1 to November 14: 85-day/550-wk), Winter (November 15 to March 31, exclude Gem Show: 95-day/625-wk), Gem Show (February 1 to 15: 150-day/700-wk).
No smoking inside, but there are nice places outside to smoke.
Dogs and children are welcome.
If over two people occupy the studio, including dogs or children, we ask for a $10.00 per night.
The yard is completely walled and fenced.
Don't miss the Desert Museum - totally worth seeing at least once to provide a strong sense of ecological place.
If you want to borrow a bike, let us know.
If you need laundry done, ask Cindy and she can make arrangements.
We have a twin size cot with mattress you can borrow if you need it, or a full size airbed (but the space gets quite cozy)
Once again our stay at Poet's Studio was perfect. We arrived late and left very early, so we did not have a chance to see our host, Cindy. The studio was immaculate. We slept well and enjoyed what Cindy left for us -tamales, fruit, Kind protein bars and Ghirardelli chocolate. Thank you, Cindy!
We had a lovely stay in Tucson at the Poet's Studio. It is a wonderful place with kind and attentive hosts.
I sat out in the patio and read/relaxed for several hours. It was peaceful and a special place to find.
Thank you Cindy.
We loved the Poet's Studio! The studiio is very clean and charming, complementing the charm of Tucson's artsy environment; and it is true to the description and photos. Our host, Cynthia, is personable, kind and accommodating. The location is great - near the U of A.
We will definitely come back.
This place is a gem! Amazing courtyard, functional kitchen and nearly everything else you could want. The bed is a double and not super firm, but we still slept well. Cindy was a great host and we would stay at this charming spot again.
This delightful little house on a breezy, bird-rich courtyard stood up to a real test in my stay: five days of a bad cold. Though it wasn't what I had planned, I couldn't have found a more pleasant place to rest during that period. The website pictures present the place perfectly--its charm, its comfort, and its tasteful furnishings. Cindy was a very friendly and welcoming host who responded to every need while also giving me plenty of privacy. The little things--the spa bathrobe, the tamales in the freezer, the reading light, the small but useful kitchen appliances--all made the place feel both special and yet familiar and homelike. And perhaps best of all--the light and warmth coming into the studio, even more welcome during this long, hard winter in New England. Thank you, Cindy. I hope to be back--perhaps next winter.
We had a fantastic stay at The Poet's Studio. It was not only impeccably clean, stylishly furnished, and stocked with awesome snacks (tamales!!) -- but the space also just had a wonderfully calming affect. Cynthia was a great host and thought of everything we might need. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Wonderful! We loved our time in the Poet's Studio. Cindy and Brett go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome--even better than staying in a resort. From the peaceful patio to the little details like sandwich bags, coffee, tamales, and even water bottles that you can borrow for a desert hike, you'll be all set to enjoy all that the Tucson area has to offer.
