Ever have a moment where you just stop and breathe it all in? That’s what this hillside farm is for...peaceful mountain views, sunsets from the summer kitchen, and the quiet joy of farm life. Wake to foggy hills and coffee, end your day with wine by the fire. With pigs, birds, a big fluffy farm dog, and space to just be... this is the reset you didn’t know you needed.
Perfect for a romantic escape, girls trip, or a cozy family retreat... where stars shine, and life slows down.

The space
Welcome to Farm Trouvaille…a cozy mountain farmstay made for slowing down, warming up, and breathing deep.
Tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains, our private guesthouse sits on a peaceful hillside farm with fireplaces, friendly animals, and little luxuries that make winter feel gentle. Whether you’re from Charlotte or Shanghai, NYC or New Delhi, this is your soft landing spot in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

(And yes… sometimes guests tell us they cry happy tears under the stars. It happens more than you’d think.)

What You’ll Experience:
• A complimentary bottle of wine at check-in (just mention if you’d rather not have it)
• Fresh eggs from our hens (when they’re feeling generous)
• A stocked breakfast basket with oatmeal, bananas, bars, juice & more
• Coffee, tea, sodas, and sparkling water …hydration is sacred
• A mini photo session in the pasture (3 free images included!)
• True quiet… just birdsong and wind through the grass, not traffic
• Farm animals to wave at, greet, or admire from afar

Inside the Guesthouse:
• Two cozy full beds, plus a twin air mattress & couch (hello, snorers)
• A full kitchen with alllll the spices + mini grocery stash
• Private bathroom, comfy lounge space & mountain views
• An electric fireplace to keep things cozy on chilly mountain nights
• Books, warmth, and magic in every corner

Meet the Locals:
• Near the guesthouse: Teddy the fluffy farm dog, pigs, and birds
• A short walk/drive away: goats, horses, cows, and a delightfully opinionated donkey
• Animals are mostly for admiring… farm activities not offered (yet!)

Extra Sparkle:
• Just 5 minutes to the local observatory and planetarium (visible from the driveway!)
• Or simply watch the stars from our outdoor fireplace patio, mug of tea in hand

Perfect For:
✔ Couples looking to reconnect
✔ Solo travelers needing a deep breath
✔ Families with a soft spot for animals
✔ City folk craving stars, quiet, and something real

What Guests Say:

Guests tell us their time here feels healing…a space to breathe, rest, and reconnect with what matters… even if that’s just a good book, a hot drink, and a dog named Teddy.

Come as you are. Leave a little lighter.
We’ve tried to capture the magic in photos… but honestly? The best parts don’t make it on camera. You’ll see what we mean.

Guest access
You’ll have full access to the guesthouse, summer kitchen, fireplace area, and nearby open spaces...perfect for slow strolls, sunset watching, or stargazing under wide mountain skies.

You're welcome to greet the animals near the house, including Teddy (our big, fluffy farm dog), the pigs, and plenty of birds. We kindly ask that guests don’t enter gated pastures or wander beyond marked property lines... those areas are either private or home to our larger animals. (We love you too much to risk a surprise meeting with a cow.)

Parking
There’s a designated parking area right next to the guesthouse. We’ll send details before check-in, but it’s easy to find.

Check-In
Self check-in is available via keypad...simple, flexible, and perfect for guests arriving from near or far. We're just a message away if you need anything during your stay.

Photo Session
A complimentary photo session is included with your stay...usually out in the pasture with the mountains behind you. If you'd like to book a time, just let us know early so we can plan for the best light!

Want help spotting the animals or learning who’s who? We’re happy to give you a quick intro tour...or leave you to settle in. Your space, your pace.

Other things to note
Animal Love (from a Distance):
You’ll see, (and hear!) plenty of farm animals during your stay. Teddy, our big, fluffy Great Pyrenees, roams near the summer kitchen with the pigs and birds, and adores a gentle hello. Other animals (cows, goats, horses, and a very vocal donkey) live down at the barn, about half a mile away. They stay in fenced pastures and are mostly here for the background charm.

Pet Policy:
As much as we love animals, we can’t allow guest pets at the farm, and it’s truly for everyone’s safety. Our cows aren’t dog fans, and Teddy takes his guardian role seriously. He’ll welcome you warmly, but isn’t as chill with visiting pups, or any other pet. Thanks for helping us keep everyone safe and peaceful!

Farm Food & Comforts:

Fresh eggs (when the hens are in the mood)

Oatmeal, bananas, breakfast bars, juice

Coffee, tea, soda, and flavored sparkling water

Freezer snacks for late arrivals or hangry emergencies

Photo Session:
Your stay includes a complimentary photo shoot in the pasture, usually with stunning mountain views. We can’t promise animals will photobomb you… but if the cows are feeling bold, you might get lucky!

Farm Experience:
We don’t offer hands-on farm activities (yet! safety first, and those cows are... large). But you’re welcome to walk the property, snap photos, and enjoy the peace and charm of the space.

Sleeping Setup:
Two full-size beds, one twin air mattress, and a comfy couch. Also have a pack n play for the little ones. Let us know how you'd like the space arranged for your group, we’re happy to prep it just right.

Weather Notes:
This is a real-deal mountain farm! Expect mud in wet seasons and cooler temps year-round. Pack layers and shoes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. It’s all part of the charm, we promise.

Neighborhood highlights

Tucked away on a quiet mountain ridge, our farmstay is peaceful enough that even some locals don’t know we’re here — and that’s kind of the point.

We’re nestled just between Burnsville and Spruce Pine, so you get the best of both: charming downtowns, cute coffee shops, local art, and mountain hospitality. The Blue Ridge Parkway is just 15 minutes away, and you can reach both Asheville and Boone in about an hour; perfect for a day trip or scenic drive.

You’ll feel a world away, but we’re close enough to everything you need.

Fun fact: I have gold colored eyes
Hi, we’re Jeff and Jennifer, living the slow life in the NC mountains...great views, slow mornings, and daily visits from wildlife. We love front porch sittin’, good coffee, and meals under the sky. Our farmstay is peaceful, a little quirky, and so are we. When we travel, we look for spaces with heart and hosts who care. We're clean, easygoing, and respectful, whether we're hosting or on the road. Hope to cross paths sometime, online or off!
