A tiny medieval hamlet in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, Lucignano d'Asso is home to Borgo Lucignanello, a group of historic houses which have been transformed into exclusive self-catering holiday apartments, ideal for those travelers eager to experience the very best of this, one of Italy's most loved regions.
Borgo Lucignanello provides beautiful guest accommodation in five apartments and a farmhouse all of which characterized by a pleasing combination of modern day comfort and old world charm. In whichever house you choose to stay, you'll find everything you'll need for a dream holiday in Tuscany.
For some six hundred years the hamlet has been the property of Piccolomini, an ancient family the name of which is linked to the history of the Italian Renaissance. Restored and transformed into a stunning period residence, Borgo Lucignanello is the perfect place in which to enjoy an exclusive vacation, in complete peace and tranquility.
In this glorious Tuscan hideaway, guests while away the hours bathing in the sunshine by the panoramic swimming pool, participating in tastings of Borgo Lucignanello's extra virgin olive oil or a cooking class held by a local chef, or touring the historic wineries for which this area of Tuscany, in the province of Siena, is famous.
If you've ever dreamt of getting married in Tuscany, with an entire village as location, then you'll fall head-over-heels in love with Borgo Lucignanello. Borgo Lucignanello hosts weddings and receptions for as many as 80 guests (40 of whom can be accommodated in the resort's apartments). Catholic marriage services can be celebrated in the hamlet's Church of San Biagio or in the equally enchanting Church of San Pietro in Villore, in nearby San Giovanni d'Asso.
For civil weddings, the mayor of San Giovanni d'Asso marries couples in a beautiful, frescoed room in the town hall. Symbolic ceremonies and simple blessings can be performed in the location of your choice: including Lucignano d'Asso's charming little private chapels.
Depending on the number of guests and the type of reception chosen (sit-down meal, buffet, aperitif etc.), wedding parties can be held in the garden of the Casale Sarageto or on the terrace by the swimming pool.

My advice to anyone looking to book a trip in the Tuscan countryside: STAY HERE! The Borgo Lucignanello was an absolute standout during our trip across Italy and Greece. Everything from our host, Doriana, to the space, location, and accommodations exceeded our expectations. The home we stayed in, "Maria", was extremely spacious and even more beautiful in person than in the photos - it was also special to see that "Maria" was featured in Borgo Lucignanello's write-up in the Conde Nast travel guide! The space was well appointed, we had plenty of towels and linens, and even snacks, wine, and their own olive oil to keep us satiated during our stay. We enjoyed our working fireplace every night and the view of the hills from our bedroom window took our breath away daily. The infinity pool is not to be missed - there couldn't be a better way to soak up the countryside than by relaxing in their cozy chairs by the pool, looking over the hills, and enjoying some of their wine. Further, Doriana had prepared a guide to restaurants in the vicinity, and each one we ate at was stellar! The Townhouse Restaurant in Pienza had phenomenal, upscale/modern, local fare, and we absolutely recommend visiting Osteria dell Crete just a few minutes away in San Giovanni D'asso (we went there twice!) - everything was so fresh, local, and reasonable there. You must try their cache e pepe and any specials they have. Absolutely divine! Lastly, I have to mention the special olive oil tasting that Doriana hosted for us and another couple during the stay. Apparently, Doriana is an olive oil sommelier, so it was such a treat to try the different varieties and to hear her speak about the history and processing of olive oils. Staying here was such a delight and I couldn't speak more highly about it...to conclude, I would absolutely recommend anyone to stay here. Thank you, Doriana! We hope to be back again sometime in the future!
