Interaction with Guests
I love to interact with my guests to find out about them, their careers etc. Mostly over breakfast.
I love that it's 5 minutes from town and you think that you are in the woods. There are dirt roads for walking, biking and running. It's very private but close to everything.
You need a car to get there.
There is no smoking on the premises. Please leave muddy shoes by the door. If you are brining your dog please keep him or her on a leash until all dogs have met and are friendly.
You are responsible for cleaning up after your pet. Inside and out. If you are pet-less you have no worries, just please be prepared to pet the resident dogs.
Lounging spaces are available. In the warm weather you will love the deck for relaxing and reading. Or drinks.
Our stay was one of the best in my recent memories. The listed room is clean, cordial and beautifully decorated. Sharon was extremely friendly and helpful in hosting us despite the busy weekend. We talked long (hopefully didn't take up too much of her time) over the breakfast about the area among many other things. Her dog, Marlowe, was adorable and welcoming and we loved to play with him. The house is surrounded by beautiful woods and fields and it is worth a morning walk especially in the foliage season. Last but not least, Sharon's baked apple was amazing. We would definitely like to revisit her place if we got a chance.
Sharon was working long hours during our visit, catering two weddings, but was never less than gracious, genuine and welcoming. Her place is beautiful and the breakfasts were fabulous...highly recommended!
Although we arrived during the later part of the evening Sharon welcomed us into her beautiful artistic home. She gave us time to settle into our rooms before she offered us her delicious homemade coconut, raspberry, lemon cake. It felt like we were at home enjoying the company of new friends along with freshly brewed mint tea. Not to mention the mint was from Sharon's lovely garden. Sharon was a perfect host. She even offered for us to use her cozy living room to unwind and watch a little bit of TV before retiring for bed. In the morning, Sharon greeted us with a delicious gourmet breakfast complete with fried green tomatoes, omelets and coffee before our early departure.
Sharon was great to accommodate our one night stay at the last minute. She left my party (3 of us) with her bedroom vs the listed room perhaps because of a conflict with another airbnb guest also in the house - and was not able to stay as host. However, she had a helpful friend who answered questions and set us up with breakfast in the morning (thank you Kathy). The house is charming - perhaps a bit cluttered here and there but you can tell it is filled with great stories and memories. Not a recent renovation but everything worked fine and we had a comfortable stay. Wireless internet access was very helpful - especially since cell coverage isn't so great. The setting is lovely - just a few minutes by car to Brattleboro. But the shining stars of the experience - besides breakfast on the deck - were the dogs who are very friendly and trusting -- you can tell they are extremely well loved and cared for!
My husband, teenaged daughter, and I recently stayed with Sharon during an overnight trip to Vermont. The room is just as it looks in the photograph, and we thoroughly enjoyed our one-night visit in Sharon's lovely home. Her dogs, Maddie and Marlowe, are friendly, but polite! We arrived at night, but were able to take in the gorgeous scenery in the morning. We leisurely ate a delicious breakfast--omelettes, fruit, and fresh, hot cornbread--and chatted with Sharon. Sharon is like your no-nonsense, interested auntie who will listen and want to know the latest in your life if you want to tell her.
I can't imagine a hostess that better exemplifies all that is wonderful about Vermont than Sharon. She is worldly yet very focused on and embedded in her community; she is gracious and warm but leaves you plenty of psychological space; she is a wonderful cook, an impressive small businesswoman, an artist, a lover of music and of dogs. We felt incredibly welcome and comfortable in Sharon's home and we will definitely find an opportunity to return.
Staying with Sharon was a great experience. She has a lovely home with a warm and welcoming vibe. The house is truly a gem and Sharon's pups were friendly and playful!
Sharon is a very sweet and lively host with some serious chef skills :)
She's awesome and you'll love staying at her home. We will certainly be back.
