About this listing

The Olive room opens directly onto the Riad courtyard filled with bird song every morning.
Riad Maizie is about 10 to 12 minutes walking from Jemaa el Fnaa square, which is the hub from which Marrakech sprawls.

The space

The Olive Room opens directly out onto the courtyard, with its fountains, orange trees and dawn and twilight birdsong. It is furnished with a double bed. The room has a polished green tadelakt wall with an incised pattern, and a baroque set of beside shelves. The bathroom has a tadelakt shower.
It is one of five rooms in a peaceful Riad featured in London's Evening Standard. The house is a heavenly retreat after the kaleidoscopic chaos of the souks, just five minutes from the nearest taxi and twelve minutes from Djemaa el Fna.
We have internet access.
There is a large suntrap roof garden with a view of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains - the perfect place for breakfast in the sun, or for dining beneath the stars, followed by a spot of relaxation lounging on banquettes amid the heady scent of flowers. There is also a trio of cool roosts in the courtyard under a canopy of orange trees.
The riad is a welcoming and friendly place to stay with a bunch of friends. Make it your HQ and explore the mountains, desert, or the vast golden beaches of Essaouira. Or lose yourself in the souks, a beady shopper's paradise selling everything from Berber jewellery to shining brass and copper hand-basins. Or make like a sybarite, and go for total relaxation with an Argan oil massage at the riad
Will, the manager of Riad Maizie is happy to cook great real food using fresh local ingredients, including delectable vegetarian dishes, which can be hard to come by in Marrakech.

Good for tough backpackers. Taxi cannot access to the Airbnb, need to walk a few minutes. Local people are very friendly, but asking tip all the time. Great for adventurous people.

Riad Maizie was a lovely place to stay, in a great location - quiet and peaceful at night, but also really close to all the excitement of Marrakesh in the day. Our bedroom was perfect, just like in the pictures, very comfortable and cool in the heat. The courtyard and the roof terrace were both beautiful with amazing plants. Will is a great host, so friendly and kind, had lots of evenings spent chatting about interesting things! Thanks for looking after us so well.

An Oasis in the Medina, the Riad is in a great location, especially for exploring the old part of Marrakech and then retreating into the leafy and beautiful Riad. Will is a great host who definitely adds a lot of insight into the locale and people. He also was very helpful and generous, making our stay very comfortable and welcoming.

Such a lovely little riad! Great location in the heart of the medina and just ten minutes from the main square. We walked around the whole city and didn't get a taxi once while in Marrakech. Will organised a taxi to pick my boyfriend and i up from the airport which made the start of the trip very smooth. He was very kind and helpful, giving us lots of advice and recommendations and was always around. The room was a good size, nice decorations, air conditioning and just off the sweet courtyard which I felt very like a little oasis in a hot and busy city. Also a nice terrace and breakfast every morning. Would recommend to any travellers, especially young people.

Will is an amazing host! The room and common areas were clean and organized, and the riad itself is absolutely gorgeous. We loved eating breakfast and just hanging out on the roof terrace (especially at night when you can hear the call to prayer echo throughout the entire Medina). Riad Maizie is in a great location, and Will is super helpful should you need any advice about the city, the country, or the culture. Don't forget to try some Moroccan coffee with your breakfast! It's delicious. Overall, we loved our stay at Riad Maizie. It exceeded our expectations in every way and I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to experience the old city of Marrakech from the inside.

We stayed for a week at Riad Maizie and it was our home away from home. The room is comfortable, cool and equipped with everything you need. Will is welcoming, friendly and a great resource for exploring Marrakech, he even got us a great traditional meal from a Moroccan friend. The wifi is good, breakfast is great and we would be happy to come back for another stay. If you plan to stay, get the driver from the airport, much easier than trying to find it yourself.
