This was my first Airbnb booking and what a terrific way to start off! From the moment I arrived I was made to feel at home and I was instantly put at ease after a long and tiring journey. The Victorian home is absolutely beautiful and is situated in a very safe and upmarket part of Solihull. A perfect base for my conference at the NEC and just minutes from the lovely Touchwood Shopping Centre. I really want to acknowledge how gracious Mick & Maxine are as hosts and how they were able to accommodate my dietary needs as both a vegan and a coeliac (no gluten). I felt like I was staying in a luxurious hotel with the super comfy bed, plush pillows and extra fluffy towels. The addition of their sweet dog Milo made me feel right at home! Don't hesitate to book!!
I stayed with Mick whilst attending a conference at the NEC. It was a brilliant decision. From the outset Mick made me feel welcome with a much needed glass of wine on arrival and a lovely comfy room that felt a million miles away from your normal conference hotel room.
The company of the lovely Milo (the dog) was exactly what I needed after a long day at the event. The location is an easy 10 min drive to the NEC (although Mick does offer a taxi service) and a couple of minutes walk to the town centre where there are lots of places to eat and relax.
Mick offers plenty of breakfast options to set you up for the day and it was nice to be able to chat to the other guest and Mick.
All in all a great stay and I'll definitely be back when next in the area.
Michael is a great host. Interested in his guests and enjoyable company. Does a wicked breakfast too
Mick couldn't have made any you more welcome if he tried. He is the perfect host and he is well cut out to do airbnb. I arrived in the evening after a long drive through torrential rain and poor visibility and upon noticing I looked a bit jaded he insisted I take a seat in his huge kitchen where he poured a huge cup of tea and made me feel quite at home (he did offer a large glass of wine but tea was my first choice on this occasion - unusual for me!)
His house is easy to find, roomy, cosy and absolutely immaculate. There is parking availability in his driveway making it so easy to unload & load luggage quickly especially when raining! This is also the first airbnb where I have been offered a cooked breakfast as part of my stay. Although I'm not a huge eater first thing in the morning Mick will take extreme pleasure on cooking you a "Full English" if you require it - his breakfast is fantastic and will set you up for the day.
The location of the house is great for easy walking access to local amenities e.g. restaurants, bars, shopping centre and local tourist attractions. Mick even offered to book a table on my behalf at local recommended restaurants that he uses himself.
I have to say that will I definitely go back there in the future. Meeting Mick & his wife was a pleasure and I never ever got the feeling I was "intruding" in their lovely home.
Michael and his wife were incredibly friendly, fun, welcoming, helpful and interesting. Michael is the ideal host and in my eyes was born to host. They were also so accommodating with their flexible timings and especially with allowing us to arrive back close to midnight from a function in Birmingham. They definitely go out of their way to make guests feel special and comfortable and do their very best to cater for all their needs. Such a beautiful house and decor, lovely spacious room; and a delicious (and big) breakfast. It felt like home away from home and we would highly recommend staying here.
Many thanks Mick & Maxine for taking my booking at a couple of hours notice and giving me a very warm welcome. The offer of a cold beer was much appreciated on arrival! Very comfortable room in a great house, excellent breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
