The Space

Casita means little house in Spanish, La Casita is a 2 story house with a kitchen, sitting area, full bath and a outside balcony with jungle views on the first floor. The upper floor has the bedroom, 2nd bath and outside balcony with great ocean views.

If La Casita isn't available for your specific dates, please view our other 4 apartments that are spread out on the property. Simply click on our photograph and than look on the lower left side of the new page to see them.

Our property is very private and secure, with a gated entrance. It sits on a hillside (email hidden) valley, with unbelievable sunset views over the ocean and marina. It is less than a 10 minute walk to central Quepos where you can find everything you need, food markets, restaurants, gift shops, clothing, taxi's, buses and more. You can visit our local farmers market every Friday and Saturday where you can buy fresh fruits, vegetables, home baked goods or a cold fresh coconut to drink. Quepos has it's own hospital and airport with numerous daily commuter flights.

You can jump into the pool to cool off, swing in a hammock under the large covered patio, or play a game of cards while you watch the boats go into and out of the harbor, or watch the monkey's play on one of their frequent visits.

The beautiful Manuel Antonio National Park and it's world famous beaches are only a short taxi or bus ride away.

My husband and I live on the property and are always available to help make your vacation a memorable one.

If you would like, we can provide private transportation to and from San Jose and help arrange all of your tours to help make your Costa Rica Vacation unforgettable.

  • Marta and Douglas' place is definitely the best place to stay in the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area! We enjoyed our stay so much we decided to stay an extra night. Marta is always around if you need anything and is so accommodating. Fresh sheets and towels every day.. And absolutely the best view in the area. We watched amazing sunsets and lightning shows at night from the pool/bar area. The hammock at the ranch is super comfortable.. And during one hammock nap I was even woken up to 15 monkeys! Marta cut up some bananas and we hand fed them. Such an amazing experience, amazing views, incredible hospitality. I'd stay here again if I return.

  • We picked Casa Pargo as our destination for our budget honey moon and we couldn't be happier we did. Our stay there was by far better than we anticipated. The Casita was very spacious with amazing views to the marina. The hosts Marta and Douglas were very sweet and helpful and welcomed us with open arms. The entire site is very clean and Saul, their assistant/groundskeeper made sure our cabin was clean, with fresh towels and fresh bedding daily. He too was a great host to us. Our original plan was to use the space as a place to crash as we planned to spend most of our time in Manuel Antonio, but once there the ambiance and space were so welcoming we spent the first 3 days hanging out by the pool and relaxing and spent a great deal of time with the hosts who were very generous and offered us food and drink whenever we spent time together, something they didn't have to do, but did out of the kindness of their hearts. We definitely plan on visiting Casa Pargo on our next trip to Costa Rica. Marta, Douglas and Saul: thank you very much for the lovely experience, pura vida!!

  • We had a great experience at La Casita in Costa Rica. It was a perfect location for us. Close enough to Manuel Antonio, but out of the hustle and bustle. We rented a car and found that it was well worth it.

Marta and Douglas were absolutely wonderful hosts. After getting lost trying to find La Casita, they came and found us so that we could follow them back. The air-conditioning worked great and the view from the pool area was amazing. We would recommend their home and give it a 5 star rating.

  • The house was a very nice little quaint place way up in the hills. We got to see many monkeys and the view over the marina was awesome. They were both very nice about any kind of question we had or any little problem we had. They also had two wonderful nice dogs . It was very close to the National Park so it was very convenient for us.

  • After our arrival in the evening, after a long trip to Quepos, we were surprised that the apartman is not for three persons, as stated in the description, but it was only for two people. The third bed was added into the kitchen, under the kitchen bar and it was very short, so it was impossible to sleep there. After our alerts Marta had give us at next day another, larger apartment, but we had to pay extra money. We also missed at least a basic kitchen equipment, such as sugar, salt, or coffee, the nearest shop was far away, and if you arrive in the evening, it´s not possible to shop. The house of Marta and the Dougles is high on a hill, and the road is very steep and winding, no asphalt, so if you don't have 4 drive car, you can't come there! There was a very nice small pool, and spectacular views of the valley. Marta and Douglas have two big dogs who are very friendly, but if you are returning to the apartment at night, they can attack you, as my son, becouse the dogs are absolutely free in movement throughout the territory.

    Response from Marta And Douglas:

I am sorry that Martina was not 100% satisfied with her stay at our place, as you can see by our other 140+ reviews we go out of our way to make our guests feel as comfortable as possible while they are visiting in a foreign country. The apartment that Martina rented was a one bedroom apartment, which she knew. This apartment has a queen size bed in the second floor bedroom and when there is an additional 3rd person we place a standard single bed in the bedroom as well, or in the first floor sitting area, which is separated from the kitchen (email hidden). We placed the bed in the sitting area for Martina because we thought it would be better for her and her daughter to have the bedroom for themselves, while her adult son slept downstairs where there is a second full bathroom. They did arrive late and she immediately expressed are dislike of the apartment and I offered to move her to a larger 1 bedroom apartment, but she declined because she was to tired. The next morning we offered her the option of moving to a larger 1 bedroom apartment at no additional cost, or if she preferred she could move to our 2 bedroom apartment for an additional $10 per night, instead of the $40 per night that it would normally be and she chose to stay in the 2 bedroom apartment for the last 2 nights of her stay, for a total of $20 extra

As our other guests have stated in their reviews, it is less than a 10 minute walk to town and Martina had a car, so I am not sure why she felt the shops were so far away that she, or her son couldn't go to the store.

Martina is correct, our house is at the end of a steep winding driveway about 80 meters, or 240 feet long and there is no asphalt, the driveway is all concrete. Many of our guest's rental cars and all of the taxi's that come here are only 2 wheel drive, but a 4 wheel drive car does makes it easier.

Our dogs are friendly, her son played with them for 3 days. They do roam the property and they bark whenever anyone returns at night, but it is certainly not an attack. Our other guests have always enjoyed playing with our pets and always felt protected knowing that they were there to watch over the property.

  • La Casita was lovely, good value for money, the house is very cute and comfortable, the views are great, and we really enjoyed the hill top pool. The drive up is very steep but easily accessed by car. Marta is a warm and welcoming host and we would definitely recommend her and her place to others. Quepos town has no real beaches but the area was great to explore by car, especially further out to Dominical to the south and Esterillos del Oeste to the north, both worth a visit.

  • Marta was an absolutely fabulous host. She is a natural in hospitality. It started when we choose to walk from the bus stop to her house at night. When we got a bit confused, we stopped and asked a woman for directions who in turn called Marta. Marta quickly jumped in her car and came to pick us up. She gave us a tour of the area pointing out the good local restaurants, ATMs and a great bakery (where we ended up getting many of our meals). Marta also gave us some great local tips on what to see and do and helped us arrange a boating excursion. Marta and Douglas and Saul were a perfect balance between attentive and helpful without being intrusive. We will definitely be back.

  • Marta and Douglas are the epitome of the exceptional host and hostess. At every turn, they did everything in their power to make us feel at home- even though we travelled with broken Spanish much to our dismay. They did everything EVERYTHING to ensure our happiness- from recommending places to eat to helping us push our car out of a rut. Our one regret on our trip to Quepos was not leaving more time to enjoy the grounds at Cass Pargo, as our schedule was non-stop from the moment we woke up until we fell asleep in exhaustion. The reviews tell the story of this couple and their wondrous home- this is the home away from home you are looking for. God bless you both, Marta and Douglas! If you are ever in Memphis, TN, we owe you some drinks!!!! In sincerest gratitude, thank you.

  • Marta and Douglas were wonderful hosts. what a wonderful spot...hard to believe they built themselves! They worked very hard to make things wonderful! We stayed in La Casita nad it was perfect. The balcony looking over the marina and the trees to see if we could spot a monkey! Marta was extraordinary, I had an accident while visiting and she assisted my husband in every way possible! Driving for medication offering to do whatever it took for my safety and happiness! The family is knowlegeable about the area and quickly assist you with things to do, where to eat etc. Cleanliness is A+ Saul, is a wonderful young man who also made sure we were happy and attended to...he assists keeping the place spotless! It is a beautiful spot and we were able to watch the sunset and enjoy the local friendliness our entire stay! About
Marta I have a very outgoing personality and love to dance, cook and laugh. I enjoy meeting and helping people. I love to travel throughout my country and other countries as well. My husband Douglas and I have been married for 25 years and have two daughters, Bianca 23 and Sandy 18. Both girls attend the university in San Jose. Both Douglas and I were born and raised in Quepos and we think that with all of the lovely areas in Costa Rica, that the Quepos/Manuel Antonio are is the most beautiful. Douglas I like to dance and cook as well. Although I am not as outgoing as my wife, I do enjoy meeting other people. I have worked for the national electric company "ICE for 27 years as a maintenance supervisor. I like to travel and enjoy seeing other areas of our beautiful country. We slowly built on our property over the years and enjoy sharing it with others. Now with the pool and rancho completed I think we are finally finished.
