About This Listing

Cosy little apartment in "arrière maison" (away from the street, so nice and quiet) in one of Brussels best areas for bars and restaurants, close to the touristic center and to Midi station and 2 minutes from Porte de Hal metro.

Response from Adam:

So sorry I totally forgot to leave a review and now the time limit is over (they seem to have made it a lot shorter?). Elena and Fabian were excellent guests - 5 stars all round.

  • La Porteuse D'Eau

Art Nouveau decor and good standard Belgian fare.

Avenue Jean Volders Saint-Gilles Brussels 1060
  • Parvis de Saint-Gilles

Lots of bars, coffee places and restaurants on this square - also down the little cobbled streets just nearby (rue de la forg, rue du moskou). Wonderful to hang out on a terrace with a beer in summer.

Parvis de Saint-Gilles/Sint-Gillis Voorplein premetro station St-Gilles Bruxelles 1060
  • Potemkine

Cool decor, cinema showing old films, nice place to have a drink or three.

    Hallepoortlaan Saint-Gilles Brussels 1060
  • Match

    Closest supermarket.

Chaussée de Waterloo Saint-Gilles Brussels 1060
  • Rue Vanderschrick

Some gorgeous Art Nouveau architecture on this street, particularly between Rue Jean Volders and Chaussée de Waterloo.

    Rue Vanderschrick St-Gilles Brussels 1060
  • Centre Culturel Jacques Franck

    Exhibitions, film showings, performances.

Chaussée de Waterloo Saint-Gilles Brussels 1060
  • Chaussée de Forest 32

Bigger supermarket nearby (and a little cheaper than the Match on chaussée de Waterloo too).

Chaussée de Forest St-Gillis Brussels 1060
  • Porte de Hal

This slightly random-seeming tower used to be part of the old wall surrounding the city. It's been very well restored and hosts a museum with some impressive suits of armor and weapons.

  • Friterie de la Barrière

    The best frites in Brussels, which basically means the best frites anywhere, in my opinion. I won't even sully these gems of Belgian cuisine by saying that "frites" means "french fries" (;

Avenue du Parc Saint-Gilles Brussels 1060
  • Place Maurice van Meenen

Architecturally impressive St Gilles Town Hall.

Pl. Maurice van Meenen St-Gilles Brussels 1060
  • Brussels Flea Market

Big daily flea market (mornings) - best to go during the week for the better deals, and be prepared to bargain prices down.

Place du Jeu de Balle Bruxelles Bruxelles 1000
  • Marché du Midi

Very big outdoor market with all kinds of stuff - weekends only.

Rue du Midi Brussels Brussels 1060
  • Chez Moeder Lambic

Beer Heaven! They have... thousands of beers available and the waiters know their stuff. No cola served. This place takes taking beer seriously seriously.

    Rue de Savoie Saint-Gilles 1060
  • Café des Spores

Everything mushroom related. Truly exceptionally delicious food. Not cheap, as such, but definitely worth every penny.

    Chaussée d'Alsemberg Saint-Gilles 1060
  • WIELS

    contemporary art museum

    Volxemlaan Forest Brussel 1190
  • Bozar

Fine art exhibitions and very high level classical concerts.

  • Grand-Place

A must-see for anyone visiting Brussels - really quite an impressive square. Just don't go to eat in the surrounding tourist-trap restaurants.

    Brussels Brussels 1000
  • Toone

This bar hosts a puppet theater that is part of Brussels' heritage. The very tongue in cheek and over the top performances are done primarily in Brusseleer (flemish/french hybrid).
