Cosy little apartment in "arrière maison" (away from the street, so nice and quiet) in one of Brussels best areas for bars and restaurants, close to the touristic center and to Midi station and 2 minutes from Porte de Hal metro.

The Space

Furnished, renovated studio with fully equipped kitchen and shower-room. Mezzanine double bed, above the kitchen and the shower room. Sound-insulated floor and ceiling.

The studio is in my house, behind an apartment building, making it very quiet in spite of its location in the heart of Saint-Gilles. Located between the Porte de Hal (metro, bus and tram) and the Parvis de Saint-Gilles (bus, tram), a stone's throw from shops, supermarkets, excellent bars, restaurants and a daily street market.

Place du Jeu de Balle (in the Marolles area), with its daily flea market, is a 10 minute walk away, the Grand Place about 25 minutes (or just a few stops by tram) - basically everything you could need is within a few minutes and excellent public transport is less than a hundred meters away.

I provide clean sheets and clean towels. You'll have access to my broadband (VDSL) wireless internet.

Should you have any diabilities impairing your mobility, I don't recommend my studio, as the stairs to the mezzanine bed are a little steep.

Babies are welcome (even if they cry a lot at night): first because the flat is fairly well sound-insulated, but also because, as a father myself, I know what it's like (: So no worries about disturbance if she/he has difficult nights. If you could bring your own portable baby cot though, that would be best. Otherwise do let me know well in advance and I'll try to organise something.

If you need anything during your stay, I'm just next door and happy to help.

Oh yes, I have a cat - he doesn't go into your studio though - so I think it would only be a problem for you if you're really heavily allergic. I had a tenant for a year who was very allergic to cats (something we only discovered after the cat moved in) - but she was fine in the studio.

  • Convenient for a short stay in Brussels : centrally located in a young and lively area (Parvis Saint-Gilles), full of bars and restaurants, near all the necessary public transports (Midi Railway Station, Porte de Hal metro station) and the most tourist places. Adam was very welcoming, always available in case of requests, and flexible. The flat looks similar to the photos : small, but sufficiently equipped for a short stay, clean, soundproofed, quiet, with a comfortable bed.

  • Terrific apartment. Just the right size for two people for a short stay in Brussels. Adam was great and answered all of our questions and left a lot of information about the area. The location was perfect. Right down the street from a park and only a 20 min walk from the city center. Would definitely recommend this apartment.

  • We had a marvelous time staying in Adam's flat in St. Gilles! The location was absolutely perfect- a quick 20 minute walk into the heart of Brussels, 10-15 minute walk to the Midi station, and a very fun neighborhood to explore. We were able to walk or take public transportation all over Brussels and Belgium because of our proximity to Midi.

The flat itself was also great. It is just as described and shown in the photos- cozy and compact, but very efficient and a fine amount of space for 2 people (we also had plenty of space to store all of our luggage). There is a large wardrobe to put clothes in as well. There are nice large windows to let light in during the day and it is very quiet for a city flat at night.

Adam was a wonderful host. He was understanding about our late arrival when we got confused on the trains coming to meet him. The apartment was very clean when we got there and he also provided a guidebook to Brussels and a map of St. Gilles. I highly recommend Adam's flat and we would be lucky to stay there again if we return to Brussels!

  • The location of the apartment is great, close to metro station, just walking distance from the city center. Although Adam did not have a chance to personally welcome us, he did everything to make sure that we feel good in his apartment, which was very nice. Definitely would recommend for a short stay in Brussels!

  • Adam's studio is clean and comfortable for a short stay in Brussels. Adam was responsive via email and greeted us on arrival and made us feel at home.

The location of the apartment is awesome. A few subway stops in any direction and you're in all the tourist attractions of Brussels.

The wifi was fast and reliable.

About
I'm 37, a sculptor, a father - a recovering philosopher. I bought my house back when I had a job that paid cash rather than satisfaction - now renting one floor I've fitted out as a studio so as to gain some extra income. I'm very easy-going and I'm likely to be around some of the time, though not in your way as our living spaces will be completely separate. I'm very much open to constructive criticism - especially whilst you're here: let me know if there's anything you need and I'll do my best to get it for you (eg. extra kitchenware, cleaning products, new lightbulbs, coathangers, etc. but also what do you think the studio needs in order to be more comfortable/welcoming) Ah oui - je parles aussi français (couramment). Y hablo un pocito de espanol tambien.
