What makes this place unique is the outdoor scenery and the open view in all directions. The house is standing alone on a prairie, with a clear view to Eyjafjöll mountains and glacier and Vestmannaeyjar islands. The house is designed to capture this, with big windows, transparency, minimalistic architecture and a lot of daylight.
This vacation house is built for all year around use. It is centrally placed on the south coast of Iceland. It is close to all the big attractions on the south coast, and less than 2 hours drive (110 km) from Reykjavik.
The house is 115 square meters and has 2 floors. On the second floor there are 3 bedrooms. Two of the rooms have king size beds (180 cm), one of them can be made to twin beds if necessary. One room has 120 cm bed. On the first floor it is a bedroom with one queen size bed (160 cm) and a special view to Eyjafjöll and Eyjafjallajökull the glacier. There are also a cot available.
The kitchen is well equipped. It has a dishwasher, induction stove, oven, microwave oven, fridge, freezer, toaster, water boiler and a coffeemaker.

The house is warm and comfortable. On the first floor all rooms have floor heating. On the second floor, there are panel radiators in every room.
Towels and linen are included. Accommodates up to 7 people.

The whole house is available for the guests. The storage room on the second floor is closed for the guests. It mainly stores the hosts personal things.
During spring, summer and autumn the surroundings have a rich bird life. Many species nest in the area. The neighbor's Iceland horses are close by. The area is flat with grass and sand further south toward the see. There are no trees. During the day it can be windy, but in the after noon specially during summer around six, it often gets quiet. There is usually a lot of changing weather. Not everybody likes a lot of weather but one can stay comfortably inside and observe it trough
the big windows.
The best way to get to the house is by a car. During wintertime November-Mars, the weather can be bad in Iceland with snow and slippery roads. On the south cost the weather shifts fast and the snow never stays very long. But if you want to be on the safe side, a 4 wheel drive car is recommended.
There is a good country restaurant in the neighborhood, Hotel Anna.
An ideal house for accommodating families with bedrooms on both floors.
The surrounding area is beautiful. Rich birdlife, a lot of horses and sheep.
You can see straight from the northern windows the Eyjafjöll mountain and at least 2 waterfalls and the Westman islands from the south side.
Svanur is a great host and answered all my questions. gave us very detailed information about the house (getting there/inside etc...)
Probably one of the most beautiful and calm places you will ever stay.
The photos of Svanur's house are obviously amazing and the reality of the house exceeded my expectations. It is incredibly beautiful and well designed with loads of natural sunlight streaming in. My friend and I referred to it as the Iceland Dream House the entire time we were there. The master bedroom on the ground floor has full length windows allowing you to wake up to gorgeous views of the mountains. It is a long drive from the airport (recommend a 4WD) but worth it. I really like the location of the house - we were easily able to tour around the Golden Circle and see the black sand beach nearby. It is fully stocked with everything you need. Just stop at the supermarket in Selfoss on the way and you're all set. The Icelandic horses who live next door are very friendly and all came over to say hi to us one day as we were driving up the driveway (do be mindful of the electric fence though!).
Svanur was so great to deal with. Prompt with his responses and went out of his way to answer my questions.
I really hope to visit Iceland again soon and will definitely stay in Savnur's house again.
This stunning and private home made our stay in Iceland incredibly special. Clean, beautiful and modern amenities. Extremely private with incredible views of the mountains, waterfalls and nearby ocean. We loved everything about our stay in this house. Great location between the glaciers and ring road. Would highly recommend staying in this home to anyone looking for a more authentic Icelandic experience. Thank you for an exceptional experience!
Svanur's house is a true gem. It was comfortable, clean and well designed. Located an easy 1.5 hours from Reykjavik, it is the perfect place to base a south Iceland adventure. Close to some of the most magnificent sites in the country and stunningly situated in an open plain, you can step onto the patio and see the Northern Lights or watch a storm move over the table top mountains. Likewise, Svanur was extremely helpful and made great recommendations for activities in the area such as Icelandic pony rides and glacier walks.
We highly recommend Svanur's house. It will be a truly remarkable, unique and memorable experience.
Our stay was wonderful at Svanur's amazing South Iceland home. Things were new, neat, and immaculate. Everything we could have needed was right at our fingertips. We stayed for 3 nights and were extremely comfortable and happy. We had such a blast waking up to the gorgeous seaside and mountainside views every morning. The home is also so close to Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss making this the perfect South Iceland location.
As a host Svanur was very attentive and kind to our needs. There was an evening that the stormy weather made was weary to make the drive back to the capital. When we mentioned this to Svanur he worked it out so we could stay an additional night. Wonderful host! I will definitely stay here again upon our return to Iceland!
We are a group of 7 traveling to Iceland for aurora. We stayed at Svanur's beautiful cabin for 3 nights and can't be happier. The house is very well located - only 10 minutes from Seljalandsfoss. We spent one day going east to Skogarfoss, the black beach and Vik, and another day around Golden Circle, Thingvellir, all with reasonable distance to the house. We even saw and photographed northern light on our last night near the house - where there was no light pollution, and perfect for aurora watching. In short, we couldn't be happier. Svanur was very easy to communicate with and gave us detailed instructions before we arrived. The only drawback was that there was only one bathroom - for 7 people, we had to wait. But that didn't bother us since everything else was beyond our expectation. Next time I go back to Iceland this place would no doubt be my first choice to stay.
My husband and I LOVED Svanur's place. The house, even though is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, was easy to find. We loved to not have anything around us. The views are spectacular, from any angle. When you are there, you just take in your surroundings, and enjoy the scenery. We walked to the coast from the house, and it was a magical experience. We felt that we were walking where nobody had been before. We also found it easy to find all the attractions in the south from the house, we just rented a car and went everywhere on our own. Svanur left some books about Iceland that inspired us to do some things we had not planned on doing before. The kitchen is fully equipped and ready to cook anything you'd want.
The shower was amazing, nice temperature and power, and lovely views. It was quite the experience to shower next to an big window and feel free with nobody else around you.
Next time I go to Iceland, I am definitely staying there again, and I would recommend it to anyone of my friends and family.
Can't say enough nice things about it, just thanks to Svanur for the lovely house and hosting.
Definitely the best place we stayed at during our trip in Iceland !
The photos were promissing, but reality was even better.
We could even see northern lights from the bedroom.
The neighbourhood is... non-existant, which was fantastic (especially when using the shower).
Our stay at Svanur's home was the highlight of our trip to Iceland. It's so remote and built to best enjoy the surrounding beauty- windows all around! We saw the northern lights every night and were able to enjoy them from inside, even, because of all the big windows. Southern Iceland is special and this place is a perfect place to enjoy it from. We walked to the coast from the house one evening at sunset which was so peaceful and beautiful. It is a magical place, we didn't want to ever leave!
I stayed in Svanur's house with my 2 sisters and had a wonderful time. We were there 4 nights and cooked dinner there 3 of them in a very well equipped kitchen. The house is full of windows which allowed us to view the northern lights from inside. The beds are very comfortable and the house warm and cozy. The shower has one whole wall of windows looking east with stellar views.
The location is great. We were able to go on wonderful day trips from the house the Geyser and waterfalls, the seaside town if Vic and the black sand beach for sunset.
I would recommend this beautiful house to anyone looking for beauty along with mighty views. I would certainly stay again
