  • OSJL was a perfect launching pad for our daily excursions around town and to the beach. Maritza was extremely helpful, and the flat was well-appointed. We both shared the downstairs bedroom since it's the bedroom with AC (the other option is a lofted bed above the living room), but that was fine by us. We loved how the living room shutters opened right out onto the street. It made for fantastic late-afternoon & evening people-watching.

  • My husband and I had a wonderful stay in the apartment. The location was great and we were able to walk everywhere in Old San Juan. It is a great place for young people to stay because of the lively nightlife close by. I highly recommend this place! I wish I could go back!

  • Great host! Available and friendly. Noise from bar across the street can prevent enjoying the living room but does not reach bedroom. Great in order to enjoy Old San Juan since everything is within walking distance. Day time walks down historical streets and a diverse night life just around the corner. Want authentic Puerto Rican food at reasonable price? Go to Cafe Manolin. Wow!

  • Our stay in San Juan was wonderful. Mara (Marcos sister) was very welcoming and accomodating to our group. The location was convenient to all of our travel in OSJ. You can't drive anywhere so it was nice to know we were walking distance to many attractions. The only complaint we would have is that the bedroom was smaller and darker than portrayed in the pictures. Besides that, the apartment was in good condition and we felt secure due to the locked gate and locked door. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would reccomend it to anyone travelling to OSJ!

  • Can I just say I absolutely loved the location! If your not planning on driving anywhere don't rent a car, there is no where to park and the public parking lots are pricey and not close to the apt. Other than that I loved the apt it was very typical and cozy, we were greeted by Marcos sister Mara!

Mara!!! THANK YOU!!!! YOUR ARE THE BEST!! Very helpful...

  • Marcos is a great and very friendly host (as is his sister Mara who lives in the apartment where the flat is located). Both of them gave me a very warm welcome and were there whenever I needed anything. On the eve of hurricane Irene arriving in San Juan, Mara even drove me to one of the few supermarkets still open so I could stock up on supplies for the coming days. Because of the hurricane weather and the very hot and humid season, my experiences in the apartment are potentially not representative for most of the year.
I general, I would agree with other reviews saying that the apartment could do with some upgrades and maybe a more silent air-con. Also, the bar across the road from the apartment is noisy, but only on Fridays and Saturdays.
It should be added (in response to another review) though that when I was there, the apartment was very clean, washer and dryer are working and there was no mould that I could see.
Still, staying in the apartment was a really good experience and I recommend it as a really good place from where to discover Old San Juan.

  • Location was great if your plan is old San Juan. But unfortunately, the photos on the website look better then in person. The couch on the site is larger and looks in good condition, but it was old and uncomfortable, and dirty in-between the cushions. The bathroom was dirty and so was the shower when we moved in, the washer leaked badly when you washed cloths, the bottom wall of the bedroom was mildew and it appeared that it was just painted over, but the paint was ready to come off, and a few bugs. I expected the noise of the street we were on since it is a party street, but the neighbors upstairs were noisy and load during our entire stay--louder then the street crowd. The price was right, but you get what you paid for. If I had seen a review like this when i booked, I would have chosen a higher priced apt as long it was clean. If cleanliness, quiet evening, and a comfortable room is what you are looking for, you need to pass on this one. But if price is all you need, then it could work for you.

  • This was a great place to stay, very comfortable and right in the heart of Old San Juan. We had no idea how great it would be and felt very lucky. Maritza was friendly and helpful in every way we could wish. Definitely recommended.

  • Excellent hosts. Refrigerator was even stocked. Light sleepers beware, this is a very lively spot in OSJ.

  • We were very happy to stay at Marcos in Old Town - San Juan. It was a very good introduction to the Old Town - El Morro and the Citadel is just around the corner and a few meters away a morning break coffeeshop and the Mercado (Museum). The flat is spacious and lovely. We loved to seat in front of the open window with a cup of coffee and watch people leaving for work ... :-)
