Come enjoy my one bedroom apartment in a 1935 Arts & Crafts Bungalow Duplex on the up-and-coming East Side of Houston!
This apartment is full of books and music, as well as a large stock of cooking supplies. It is a cozy space (550 sq ft), with a newly renovated kitchen and bath. The bed is Queen-sized and there are window A/C units and ceiling fans in the main living areas. A washer and dryer are available for your use as well. There is plenty of free street parking. This is a historic older home, and full of charm, but probably not for the person looking for an ultra-modern condo-type experience.
Please note: there is no cable TV.... However, there is a TV in the apartment, as well as a Blu-Ray DVD player, and high speed WiFi internet.
The house is on a historic tree-lined street. The neighborhood is very residential, full of families and working-class folk, as well as artists and musicians. It is not "fancy" but it is quiet and lovely and I have had ZERO issues with crime (not so in some of the "nicer" areas of Houston I have lived). There are coffee shops and lots of wonderful ethnic restaurants nearby. New things are popping up all the time in this area!
Houston is definitely a driving town, and unfortunately, public transit is not very convenient. This may change when the East Side metro line is complete, but for now I strongly recommend the use of a car. If you would like to explore public transit options, there is a very useful website run by the City of Houston. You should use "Munger and Broadmoor" as a starting place.

It was nice staying at Tara's little duplex. Very private and it was great having the whole place to ourselves. Few things to keep in mind though, there is a train rail close to home so sometimes it could get loud. I'm a heavy sleeper so it didn't bother me too much but I was still able to hear the sound. Another thing is the neighborhood is a little sketchy but really quiet. Tara is an excellent host and I was able to communicate with her thru email easily. If you are looking for a quiet, private place all to you, this is a nice place for that.
We had a great experience at Tara's place. Her directions to her place were very clear, and her welcome packet was very detailed. Everything we needed to know about her place was outlined. It is a very quaint place. We loved the decor and how comfortable the place was. It is very close to the medical center, downtown, midtown, and shopping areas. We couldn't have picked a better location. The heaters were a nice quirky touch and we loved it. We slept like babies at her place. We would definitely rent this place again!
Lovely place to stay Tara was super attentive. I would stay at her place again at a future trip to Houston.
Tara was a perfect host as always--so very helpful! The apartment is perfect, on a beautiful street, with everything you need!
Tara's home is very quaint, clean, well-decorated, and cozy. She really has an artistic flair! Tara is a wonderful hostess, and her home is a little gem in Houston really near to the downtown area. Tara is very hospitable, generous, and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay--you won't be disappointed!
Tara's house was certainly an escape from my normal hotel life. I was on a business trip in Houston and rather than staying in a hotel I decided to try airbnb! I was not disappointed, Tara's house made me feel at home! I think if you are a creative person or artist, this place will particularly appeal to you!
Great apartment, we had a wonderful stay . Host made us feel right at home, even though she was in Chicago working. Talked with her via phone. She seemed very warm & caring. A cold spell hit while we were there. Very grateful that she had a couple space heaters.
Great location, bed comfy, enjoyed Johnson space center.
This is a really cozy house in a nice little neighborhood. We especially enjoyed being able to scoot over to the taquerias nearby in the morning for breakfast. Everything was as described and easy. Thank you for providing a great place to stay in Houston!
Tara's apartment is a very nice place to stay! It made me feel like home since the very first day!! Also, Tara is a very thoughtful and gentle host!!
Wow, what a wonderful stay -- highly recommended!
