Relax and getaway in our safe, centrally located, co-housing community. Next to the local YMCA and local walking paths. This authentic log cabin has been completely renovated with a studio-style open bedroom, kitchenette, living room, porch, and bathroom.
There is no TV, but there is Wi-fi.
You'll be staying in the lower level of the cabin. The upper level is a separate unit, also on Airbnb. The units share no interior access and are completely separate units.
The space
The is a calm and peaceful space for a guest who wants to be centrally located, feel safe, but also feel like you are getting away. It is nestled in our cohousing community, sits next to our local Y where you can buy a guest pass or walk many paths starting at the Y, and backs to protected woods. Our community is friendly but will also respect your privacy. We're here to help with any questions but will also let you be the one to initiate any contact. No pressure either way.
The cabin is an original structure on a piece of land being developed into Bloomington's first cohousing neighborhood. Guests can rent one or both units, but there is no access from one unit to the other from the interior. Guests who stay with us will enjoy a friendly and safe neighborhood vibe. It is a beautiful space and setting but still has quite a ways to go with lots of construction left to be done.
Our cabin has been completely renovated to preserve its integrity but modernize it. The important things are new - lovely bathroom, modern kitchenette, new windows, walls, and flooring, as well as new furnishings, linens, and decor. ** I have a dehumidifier and air purifier running since it's the bottom level of the cabin. It's the nature of the space, and if you are ultra-sensitive to smells, I would consider the upper cabin instead.
The little kitchen is perfect for small meal preparation or carryout eating. There is a small dining table and chairs, as well as a couch and chairs in the living area. The beds are Brighton gel memory foam mattresses that are soft but have a firm feel. The bedframes are new and solid. Towels and basic toiletries are provided.
Guest access
Construction is currently happening in our neighborhood. There is parking provided in front of the cabin, but if you are blocked from the entrance by construction vehicles, please temporarily park on the edge of the community and walk over to the cabin or ask the workers to move for a moment. They are friendly and will cooperate.
Other things to note
Our community has houses and common spaces near the cabin. It is important that guests keep regular neighborhood quiet hours (quiet outside between 11pm and 9am) Guests are welcome to walk through the neighborhood but will not have access to the common building or other houses within the community. Our neighborhood backs up to a lovely wooded forest. It is right next to the Y where you can access a guest pass, and there are walking paths, a community garden, and city woods all within a short walk of our neighborhood. If you'd like to learn more about Bloomington Co-housing, you can search us on the web or Insta.
Each guest will have a unique lock code for their stay. Each guest will have a unique lock code for their stay. Cell service is good, and there is wi-fi for the cabin. There is laundry available on the premises but not in the cabin.
Very important - This is an authentic log cabin. From time to time, bugs have found their way in. We do our best to keep it bug-free, super clean, and well maintained, but the charm of the cabin is sometimes the challenge, and there may be a bug or two.
