Guest flat in Hornby Castle, which is located in the picturesque Lune Valley, in the forest of Bowland and not far from the Lake District, sitting on a hill with dramatic views overlooking the Lune valley and Ingleborough. Relax, enjoy the local walks, including along the river in our garden. Hornby has a good village tea room & pub. Also a good village shop. Our TV is small and only runs off online apps. Remember it is an old house and can therefore be or feel cold.

The space
3 bedroom flat within the guest annexe of Hornby Castle. It has its own front door and is separate from the rest of the house.
It has a separate bathroom with bath and electric shower;
Small kitchen area, toaster, tea and coffee making facilities, cooker and hob - very limited food preparation space. Fridge is located on the small landing at the top of the stairs.

1 Superking Bedroom, 1 King Size Bedroom with a small single bedroom leading off the king size bedroom - please note this however it is only ideal for children or for travellers who would rather have their own bed and don't mind walking through the king bedroom to it. One bedrooms has a table which folds out to allow guests to eat breakfast. There is another table in the hallway that can be moved and used the same way. The superking room is the only one with a TV and there is super fast fibre WIFI.

Hornby Castle as it stands dates back to 1520 - the main house is Victorian having been torn down and rebuilt by its various owners over the years who have all added to the rich history that this building has. Hornby has housed numerous interesting characters who have played a part or influenced well known historical events. Turner painted pictures from the top of the keep. We now have the honour of living here and you can enjoy a stay in this wonderful location.

Please note - the stairs up to the flat are very steep.
Please don't leave the window open and left unattended.

Guest access
Guests can access a river walk from the main house. Please be aware that you might meet dogs if you go for a stroll. The main lawn areas and gardens at the front of the house are however private. There is parking for one car, if further parking is required please get in touch as this can easily be arranged. I can arrange self check in if you want to arrive after 8pm.

Other things to note
Hornby Castle, is an old building, with high ceilings and as such can BE MUCH COLDER than the average home, even in summer - always pack a jumper! It has creaks, cracks and occasionally the odd leak. We do our best to ensure these don't affect you, but please bear in mind its history and age. We have 2 children and dogs, we ask that you take care and drive slowly when coming up the drive, as the children are often playing and I am always walking the dogs! The dogs and cat (cat belongs to one of the tenants) don't have access to the flat.
Please note - we are located in a rural location - we advise that you don't open the windows and leave the lights on as this can attract bugs. This can occur even if you leave windows open for protracted periods of time. Please don't leave windows open when you go out for the day as the wind can pick up and they can bang. There are general bugs that can find their way in, we also have some bees in the wall outside one of the bedrooms. We can't do much about them as they are honey bees - but they don't give guests any bother normally.

A Village pub The Royal Oak - which serves hearty plates of food. The village shop has a really good variety of produce. Walk up Ingleborough or take in the waterfalls and the White Scar Caves.
