The Space

This studio just outside Tahoe City has a private entrance and parking for ONE car. There is a queen bed and we can provide a twin blow-up mattress perfect for a child, or a pak-n-play if you are traveling with an infant. There is a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, hot pot and some kitchen essentials. There is also a clock radio with an ipod dock, a small flat screen TV with DVD player and wireless internet.
The apartment is about 4 miles to Tahoe City, 9 miles to Alpine Meadows and 11 miles to Squaw Valley. Tahoe Cross Country is also just a couple of miles away, not to mention Northstar and Diamond Peak etc, etc. There is a trail head at the top of the block perfect for snowshoeing, sledding, snowmobiling and making angels and snowmen (great hiking in the summer). Although you will have plenty of privacy including your own separate entrance, this is attached to our home in a fairly quiet neighborhood, it is not a place for a party.
If you are interested, PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION, I respond quickly to messages and like to confirm availability as soon as possible.I AM NOT TAKING ONE NIGHT FRIDAY OR SATURDAY RESERVATIONS AT THIS TIME UNLESS LAST MINUTE; if the weekend hasn't booked I will take a one night reservation the Thursday before. I am definitely more flexible on this when it is off season (April and November particularly). I am flexible with check-in/out unless it conflicts with another reservation. In that case, check-in is at 3 PM and check-out is a 11 AM.
One other thing, some reviews have said the place is too small or people check in and are upset there is no kitchen. Just to be clear, the space is 350 square feet, about the size of a hotel room. There is an entry way and closet for storage. This is not a cabin or a house with a yard, it is a studio with a kitchenette, not a full kitchen.
*BTW, can't change the neighborhood. I don't know why it says "Waters Edge," but it's not on the water. We are about a mile from the lake.

Guest Access

Access is to the studio and small table outside the front door. Unfortunately I ask guests to stay out of the back yard for safety concerns and privacy issues.

Interaction with Guests

I am as available as you want me to be. I often don't even meet the guests that stay unless they reach out and ask for assistance. I try to give as much privacy as possible, but love to meet and talk about the area also. It's up to the guest how much or how little they want to visit.

The Neighborhood

We live in a quiet neighborhood with a trail head at the top of the street.

Other Things to Note

Winter: This is snow country, please be aware of changing weather and road conditions and be appropriately prepared. Be aware that it is illegal to park on the road November 1 - May 1 or in anyone's plowed spot that is not your own. Although we do provide ample parking, it is for ONE car only! I do have a strict refund policy even in the winter. I will not refund due to weather unless the interstate closes for a period of time. In other words, I won't refund just because it is snowing, unless it is a major storm and road closures limit your ability to get here. I hate to sound so harsh, but I have had many unusual cancellation requests and even had someone arrive in a snowstorm with no chains and no warm clothing! Their car got stuck in the middle of the road and they were upset with me that they were unable to make it to the house. I want my guests to be safe and I will do anything I can to help, but it is best to be prepared for inclement weather.

Spring, Summer, Fall: This is bear/raccoon/critter country. Never leave food or garbage in your car and be sure to lock the doors. The bears know how to open car doors and although pretty harmless, they will make a big mess! It has been known to snow on shoulder seasons so check the forecast before heading to the mountains anytime you travel.

House Rules

Please turn off all the lights and turn down the heater to 55 degrees when you leave.

PLEASE BE KIND TO MY LINENS. I request no eating or drinking in the bed unless you are confident a huge pizza stain will not end up destroying my duvet (yes this has happened more than once)! There is a small bar with bar stools perfect for that piece of pizza or glass of red wine. Also, use the towels and washcloths appropriately. Cleaning up food messes, wine, makeup/mascara/lipstick, grease, (URL HIDDEN) not appropriate. There are paper towels, tissues and rags provided for that. I ask you kindly to respect my space as you would your own.

This studio is for two people and one child (or two small children) MAX! I have many inquiries for four or even five people. This many people will not only not fit, but are absolutely not permitted.
