A 130-year-old Japanese farmhouse, restored by the host, is now a private retreat. Traditional beams, tatami rooms, an irori hearth and wood stove offer an authentic yet comfortable stay. From the windows, the Central Alps and peaceful countryside unfold, and at night the sky glitters with stars. Try the fire-heated goemon bath, cook in the kitchen or over the hearth, and pick seasonal vegetables from the garden. A place to slow down, breathe deeply, and simply be.

Guest access
Restricted Areas
For safety and privacy reasons, the following areas are off-limits:
Inside the house: closets and the storage space at the end of the hallway.
Outside: the neighboring house, the storehouse (dozō), and the neighbor’s fields.

Please feel free to explore all other areas of the property.

Other things to note
Just behind the farmhouse, you’ll find our vegetable fields. Continue walking and you’ll come across vineyards, and beyond them lies a beautiful 2-kilometer avenue of double cherry blossoms (yaezakura). Every year in mid-April, the trees are illuminated at night, creating a magical atmosphere.

If you walk a little further, you can overlook the Tenryu River. The cherry blossom path is also a popular walking route among local residents and is perfect for a peaceful stroll.

A 5-minute drive will take you to Tenryukyo Gorge, a scenic valley with walking trails overlooking dramatic river views. The nearest train station is Tenryukyo Station, known as the gateway to the secluded “hidden stations” of the Iida Line.

Tenryukyo is also a small hot spring town. There are public day-use onsens, and the local spring water—often called the “Bath of Rejuvenation”—is said to leave your skin smooth and refreshed.

My work: Occasional agricultural work during the stay
Fun fact: I have appeared on national television three times. (For a few seconds)
I renovated a 130-year-old private house in Iida City, Nagano Prefecture, and I run a private rental inn called "Swallow and Earth" per day, and a farm called "Ryunoho" with my wife.I'm curious about all sorts of things, so I like to hear a lot of stories. Thanks
