A private 80 acre playground with 900 square foot Yurt (including loft) that has a fully equipped kitchen, 3/4 bath with running hot and cold water and more than adequate sleeping arrangements for 4 - 6 guests.

Sorry but Closed Dec., Jan. & Feb.

The space
All Yurts are fun! Most Yurts are small, open and provide little if any individual privacy.

Just an open tent.

Most have no plumbing or electricity.

If you like “Roughing it” that way – OK, but…

This is NOT like most Yurts. This YURT is large (over 900 square feet - including the loft) and contains a complete 3/4 bath, well equipped kitchen (propane range and oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, cooking utensils, etc.), open living area, wood stove, propane heater, solar electricity (generator backup), large deck, enclosed entryway, adequate storage and skylight.

The YURT comfortably sleeps four - two twin beds in the loft and two full sized futons in the living area.

Kids love lying their sleeping bags in front of the wood stove or even better yet - "setting up camp" on their own in the large 14' X 17' outfitter's wall tent for week or longer stays (additional charge - please arrange in advance.)

There is only one bath –but hey – for a YURT a toilet that flushes and shower is pretty classy!!

Rental includes full use of The YURT, all the associated improvements such as corrals, trails, private 80 acres and direct BLM access to 1,000s more acres (some restrictions apply.)

Best effort is made to insure adequate supplies of propane, water, electricity, firewood and other consumables. Daily housekeeping is not provided.

You'll be secluded on your private 80 timber covered acres. You'll have private access to thousands of adjoining BLM acres. There are miles and miles of hiking, biking, ATV and horseback trails that start right at your doorstep.

We use this yurt as a base camp for big game hunting in the fall, and it is also available to other hunters during the hunting season at a different seasonal rate. Please use the 'Contact Me' button to inquire if you're interested in hunting during the hunting seasons.

Guest access
Our YURT sits on its own private secluded 80 acres with hiking, biking and ATV trails. There is also private access to thousands of acres of BLM land miles of additional trails.

Other things to note
Grand Mesa - the world's largest flat top mountain is only minutes away. With over 300 lakes and 100's of miles of roads and trails, Grand Mesa is both a summer and winter playground. In the summer, fishing, boating, hiking, mountain biking, ATV riding - in the winter cross country skiing, downhill skiing (Powderhorn Ski Area), Sleding, Snow Shoeing, & Snowmobiling are just a few of the things that can be done on Grand Mesa.

The YURT sits at about 7000 feet elevation on Cedar Mesa - just south of Grand Mesa - the largest flat top mountain in the world. If you're from sea level you may want to limit your physical activity the first day or two. You'll be isolated (even though close to civilization.) The silence can be deafening.

My wife and I have lived in the area since 2000 and owned this Yurt since 2003. We're both retired (I formerly worked in high tech sales and as a commercial pilot). We have a small hobby ranch of our own, where we raise horses. We also own more land that adjoins the Yurt property. Our joint partners' in this yurt (George and Sharon Bradshaw) are our good personal friends who also happen to be our son's in-laws. George is a retired law officer. The Bradshaw's and our son and daughter-in-law's property both adjoins the Yurt property. We use this Yurt as a base camp for our own big game hunting in the fall, and the Yurt and surrounding property is also available to other hunters during the hunting season(s) - at a different seasonal rate.

During your stay
We'll guide you into the YURT and help you get settled - after that we're available close by if you need us. The private road (about one mile) into the YURT is steep in some places. In the summer months access by regular automobile is no problem. In the winter months or if you are pulling a trailer, all wheel drive will probably be required.
