Relax and rejuvenate at this unique getaway on 20 acres in CT’s Quiet Corner. Just an hour from Boston, Providence, & Hartford, enjoy this private in-law studio with beautiful forest views. Lounge in bath robes & soak in the hot tub, take a walk along the trails, enjoy local vineyards, or explore antiques. Folks from all backgrounds and identities are welcome at The Farmette.
Ideal for couples, solo travelers, or a family with a young kid. Please include all individuals (&pets) in your booking.

The space
This is an 1800s saltbox replica with large windows overlooking pine, oak, and red maple trees, as well as a wall that shows off the foundation stones. The in-law studio has a private entrance on the ground floor with a small private deck, full double-sink bathroom with a unique spa-like shower, a coffee maker, a water bubbler, a microwave/air fryer, and refrigerator. There is one queen bed with a very comfortable bamboo mattress and down duvet. The kitchenette area has a table that can double as a place to work remotely (with great wifi). Or you can sit at the antique desk overlooking the forest. There is a large closet, as well as a cozy couch where you can watch Netflix, Prime, AppleTV, and live TV, or look out at the beautiful scenery. You also have private access to a grill. The (unheated) pool and hot tub are surrounded by trees and are accessible 24 hours (pool is open May-October). The three-floor barn is home to 15 hens, two roosters, five goats, two sheep, and a mini horse - our animal rescues through our small non-profit, The Farmette Sanctuary.

This is a great place to take it easy, refresh, and connect with nature during your stay while never leaving the property (Doordash delivers!), or take advantage of the many things to do nearby - go on a hike at the Thompson dam or a local state park, visit Old Sturbridge Village (the largest living museum in the Northeast), or listen to live music at a brewery or pub.

My wife Noah, dogs (Bentley, Sparkle, And Poly), and I live on the other floors of the house and love welcoming folks to our space. We are happy to give you a tour and share about the property, or give you space to have a private getaway.

Guest access
You will have private access to the studio. The unheated pool, hot tub, garden, barn, and trail are shared use. We have three dogs and seventeen chickens that are sometimes wandering around the property.

Other things to note
There is no lifeguard on duty. The pool area is gated off - please exercise caution and safety and swim/enjoy the hot tub at your own risk. Note that the wood planks around the pool are wobbly, please walk carefully and use caution as you enter/exit the pool.

Please be sure to include in your booking if you will bring a child or a pet with you on your visit. We set up the space slightly differently if we are expecting children or dogs/cats, and it’s important for us to know who is staying in our home. Please note there is a $50 pet fee, and we have a Pack and Play available for young children.

Please note there is no stovetop in the space - no stovetop cooking is allowed as there is no exhaust fan in the kitchenette. You have private access to an outdoor grill, and a cast iron skillet and saucepan are provided for your use on the grill as well as oil, salt, pepper, and basic cooking utensils. Be sure to use the oven mit when holding the handles as they get very HOT on the grill. Dirty dishes can be placed in the basket and left outside if you would like us to wash them overnight (please inform us if you would like this service. You can also wash them using the dish soap provided in the bathroom).

My work: Education
I grew up internationally and love traveling and meeting new people! My wife, our three rescue dogs, 29 rescue chickens, and goats/sheep/ducks/mini horse/pig live on a small farm in the Quiet Corner of CT. I am a former Kindergarten teacher, and I spend my time working on our garden, hanging out with the animals, eating delicious vegan food, learning new things, and exploring new places. I look forward to meeting you!
