Interaction with Guests
I like to welcome Guests and show them their accommodation. My family and I live in the next street, so I am close by if Guests need something.
Wonderfully located on Victoria Street in Potts Point. Potts Point is Sydney's most cosmopolitan neighbourhood (think Soho London, The East Village NYC). Victoria Street is unique. Lined with beautiful trees, it starts at the Harbour and is filled with cafes and restaurants.
During the last decade Potts Point has become recognised as one of the most desirable places to live in Sydney. Many empty-nesters have sold their family homes in the suburbs and bought an apartment in the neighbourhood. Many young families now choose to live here, so much so that the sight of prams, once as rare in Potts Point as koalas, are now part of the diverse mix of locals. And why wouldn't anybody want to live here? It is the most cosmopolitan 'hood' in Australia. It is beautiful, grand old art deco buildings and harbour side parks; it is a walk to the city through the Botanic Gardens; you can get a coffee downstairs, and have a drink after dinner. It is all about amenity. It is a vibrant, living, inner-urban community.
It is one minute walk to the nearest train station (Kings Cross) or you can walk into the CBD in fifteen minutes. There is a goget car for hire by the hour on the street. Harbour-side parks are 5 minutes walk. The surf beaches are also a short train/ bus ride away.
Within walking distance of the Botanic Gardens, Opera House, Art Gallery, Australian Museum, central business district & most tourist sites
- Taxis takes about 20 minutes and cost about $50 (depending on the time of day).
- Shuttle bus stops at the Holiday Inn just down the road. This costs $13 but takes longer as it makes a number of stops.
- Train. Domestic Airport Station to Kings Cross, a one way ticket is: $15.90 AUD
- Train. International Airport Station to Kings Cross, a one way ticket is: $16.70 AUD

First when we came we called to Hugh from the airport and he told us to come to his office cause we were early and somebody was staying at the apartment that day. We went to his office and he told us a lot of things from Potts Point an Sydney and we also had a chance to leave our luggage to his office (which is very near the apartment) and go for a drink while they were setting the place ready for us. Then they gave us a call and we went to apartment together with one of Hughs employees. He showed us all the things from the apartment and gave us the keys. The apartment is very clean, there is everything you need and was just what Hugh is telling on the airbnb site. It's very near fom everywhere so I would say it's the best area to stay. Hugh is a professional in business and I Definitely would recommend him and will contact him if I ever need a place to stay in Sydney. Very professional, thank you! There is also a lot of restaurants in the area and I highly recommend the Bootleg Meatball restaurant just downstairs.
this was my second time in one of Hugh's places and it was another great experience.
If you stay here, be sure to eat at the Bootleg Meatballs restaurant next door, you won't be disappointed.
The location is great, and there was plenty of space for the three of us.
Very well located, super cool apartment.. We arrived really late but no problem checking in. Really professional, clean and I'd suggest to anyone is planning to visit Sydney.
Jeff welcomed us and face a quick run down of how everything worked. He was very helpfully and friendly. Great location - very close to railway station and restaurants. Appt was cute and functional. Was a little noisy at night on weekends but didn't keep me awake. Overall a great place to stay would stay again and happy to recommend.
Although we didn't actually meet Hugh he still managed to make us feel very welcome. What a great space The Loft is! Even with four of us in there it had a spacious feel, and has everything you need to make your central Sydney city stay comfortable & memorable. Location is great, but I did take note of one of the reviews which suggested earplugs on a weekend night. This worked well for me on the Sat night but other members of the family did not have an issue! We all loved it & will certainly be using it on our next trip to Sydney.
This converted dance floor apartment is a charming place, different, alternative place to stay. Very well located, we could walk to all main Sydney attractions. Lively neighbourhood, convenience store very close. Hugh was not in town but everything was taken care of by Jeff nicely. We have an observation: the 'attic' where the 'main' double bed is located, is very difficult to access and get down from by mid-aged people like us. Unimaginable to go to the toilet in the middle of the night down those stairs and the small hole-space to make it. That said, probably a young and agile person will be fine. Older kids did not want to make it up there either.
Host leaves nice toiletries bag and a bottle of wine to welcome guests.
This apartment made for a great Christmas fortnight for our family of four. The location is perfect - easy train access, the botanical gardens a short walk away and even the Opera House in walking distance if you don't mind a 35 min stroll. Hugh provided everything we could realistically have wanted including a wonderful rooftop venue from which to see the NYE harbour fireworks. If we return to Sydney, we'll be in touch with Hugh!
