One of The Mendocino Coast's most popular Airbnb destinations just got even better, and now offers an entire studio, no longer just a guest room in the main house!
The Garden at Road’s End, located just two miles from the beach at Pudding Creek in Fort Bragg is a garden lover’s paradise. Set on 8 acres in the middle of a carefully tended lush landscape, the gardens are surrounded by fields, forest, and redwood groves. As our guest, you’ll have the sense you’ve stepped into another world- one that offers peace, tranquility, and the opportunity to recharge and find your own place of inspiration.
You will be offered a private, self-contained architecturally designed studio adjacent to the main house. The 500 sq. ft. space features a comfy living area with a large sofa, table and chairs, a cozy window seat with views to the gardens, and photographs and original artwork by some of The Mendocino Coast's most renowned artists. The sleeping area includes TWO double beds, so the studio easily accommodates four, in one large, light-filled room. The well-appointed kitchenette allows you to prepare simple meals with its refrigerator, countertop convection oven, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, instant hot water tap, and blender. An array of breakfast foods, and coffee and teas are included with your accommodations. A dining table and 4 chairs allow you to eat comfortably, and a beautiful bathroom of modest proportions with a glass block shower, plus large area for hanging and storing clothes complete your accommodations. A very efficient Monitor heater will keep your room at the temperature you prefer.
A wet/dry cedar sauna, free weights and bench, hot tub and deck, outdoor shower, comfy hammock, woods trail, fire circle, wireless DSL, and plenty of places to sit throughout the gardens complement your studio space.
A separate massage studio on the property offers massage and bodywork by prior appointment with two extremely talented local professional therapists, and will help you to fully unwind and surrender into peace. Once you have a confirmed reservation you will have access to my website upon request, with contact information for both masseurs.
The gardens have played host to many garden tours, fund-raising events, and more than a dozen couples have been married in the gardens over the past 12 years. I bring my talents as an architect, landscaper, lover of Spirit, and as an innkeeper for 13 years at a retreat center in Sonoma County into play here, where I have finally found a place to live out my passion, and share it with others. My partner Alberto will see to it that your accommodations are beautifully prepared for your arrival.
We are fully licensed to operate a B&B, and our rates include an 11% hotel tax which we pay to the county, so staying with us helps to support our local economy here on the Mendocino Coast.
The Garden at Road's End is just 5 minutes from downtown with its restaurants and shops, and from the famous Glass Beach, Skunk Train, and from miles of spectacular coastline with its many beaches and hiking trails. We are a 20 minute drive along Highway One to the Victorian Village of Mendocino- a must see!
In addition to hosting over 150 guests in the guest room of the main house in the first year as an Airbnb member , we have also rented to students and visiting guest teachers of the local culinary institute for the past 4 years. Though the small guest room in the main house is no longer available, we look forward to playing unobtrusive host to those of you who feel inspired to visit and will do our best to make your stay a memorable one.
Great location. Amazingly maintained room as well as garden. The hot tub was the highlight. Its located amongst the woods - has a wonderful ambience to it! Highly recommend this!
Amazing studio, garden around it and a delightsul host!
Save your money for a five stars hotels and come enjoy the details of this studio and garden.
John's Garden Paradise was amazing!! We had the best time there and his garden was a magnificent sight to behold. Words cannot describe our experience there. We (my partner Nick and I) LOVED everything about it. John was a great host and allowed us to do our own thing and the place was stocked full of amenities that we were able to use. From the diverse breakfast selection to the shower gel and shampoo, John thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable and pleasurable as possible. We were also able to enjoy the hot tub under the stars which was just as relaxing and beautiful as we had hope. We highly recommend John's Garden Paradise and will definitely be back in the future!
My partner and I had a wonderful visit to Fort Bragg! John's garden paradise was more relaxing than we had anticipated. We had an amazing night looking at the stars from the warmth of the hot tub, and spent hours reading and cuddling in the hammock and cushioned bay window. The studio and property are so filled with love; you can tell that John has paid much attention to detail. The location is just minutes from the sleepy downtown. Overall we had a wonderful stay, and would recommend John's studio to anyone who is looking for a tranquil and romantic getaway.
John has spent 15 passionate years developing his place and it shows. Several acres are exquisitely landscaped with specimen plantings interspersed with clumps (could this really be the correct term?) of redwoods. Our room was huge, immaculately appointed and generously supplied - including terry-cloth robes to wear to and from the secluded hot tub! John was unfailingly polite and I wish we'd been able to stay longer to engage with him about his horticulture - an interest we share.
The space was lovely and the property delightful. Can't wait to go back in the spring to see the gardens in all their glory.
John's Garden Paradise at the End of the Road was indeed a paradise. The rental is a converted garage but you can't tell because John has done a wonderful job converting the space into a living area and strategically placing the furnishings so it feels like you are in a small apartment with a separate bedroom, kitchen & living room. We enjoyed sitting in the window nook perusing the reading material, using the hot tub under the starry skys, and eating a breakfast of tea, orange juice, toasted bagels, bananas, and apples in the beautiful & tranquil garden. And added bonus was the curious deer and quirky wild turkeys which we encountered during our morning stroll through the garden.
Our only regret -- staying there for one night.
Catherine, I really enjoyed hosting you and Delwin, and am glad you got to experience some of the very entertaining wildlife that is so abundant here. Please come visit again! However before other readers imagine staying in a garage-sized space, I would like to emphasize that it was a very generous light-filled 600 square foot over-sized three-car garage with ten foot ceilings to house the previous owners automobile collection. -John
John's property is spectacular. The garden is massive and the studio is completely private from the rest of the house. The unit was clearly created for the purpose of regularly being rented out so everything is new and John leaves lots of great resources for enjoying your trip and making sure you get all the perks of a hotel.
With the hot tub, a sauna we didn't get to try, a bunch of outdoors stuff to do in Fort Bragg and Mendocino, this will be an amazing stay for you.
This is truly a garden paradise and is a window to John's soul. We stayed on an especially rainy weekend in February but didn't mind a bit once we arrived to his impeccable studio. The place is immaculate and well appointed. John is very helpful and friendly and made sure we had all we needed. There is a hot tub nestled in the garden, plush robes and plenty of towels. There is a small kitchen that has a refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave, etc and he left a lovely breakfast of bagels, cereal, fruit, coffee and juices. I highly recommend a visit and hope we are able to return soon.
My daughter and I arrived at John's paradise after driving several hours in the rain. When he opened the door to where we would be staying, I immediatly felt all my stress melt away. His studio apartment was beyond our (email hidden)rge, beautifully decorated, and equiped with everything we could possibly need. The grounds on the property were breath-taking and in spite of the drought, very lush. The only regret I had was not being able to stay longer! I look forward to staying with John whenever I visit the the area in the future. Thank you for sharing your retreat with us!!
