nice aparent. perfect location, cozy decoration, spacious house. very satisfying
Everything perfect: host, facilities, location, decoration. Very satisfied.
Francesco was an excellent host. We were able to get an earlier train into Florence and he was ready for us when we arrived. He immedately gave us a map of Florence and was readily available to answer any questions that we had during our stay. The apartment was very nice and had a wonderful Italian decor. Overall our stay was very enjoyable and we would definitely stay again were we to have the opportunity to return to Florence!
Francesco welcomed us warmly. Apt was easy to find. Building is close to SMN train station so easy distance with luggage. Facility was spacious, airy, clean. With one bedroom in front and second in back & 2 bathrooms..we thought perfect for extended family.
Our cell phones did not work so we did have trouble reaching him later to inform him about burned microwave cord we found when we first went into kitchen and how to handle trash..as office, which he said would be open certain hours, often was not. It was New Year's eve period though so this is understandable. Communication issue largely our fault for not setting up another means to communicate knowing our phone problem but we counted on office hours.
Location is convenient to major sites. As it is close to the train station, it had a significant number of vagrants. None presented a problem but I note for others considering this property. Also very high end designer shops within a block or two.
Our only problem with unit was the noise. Noise in front bedroom kept my husband and I from sleeping. Street sweepers, motorcycles, arguing drunks.. Noise went on all night. If one is used to urban noise perhaps this comes with the territory. Although we live in an urban environment, we are used to relative quiet from midnight to 5 am or so. The back bedroom and the dining room which open onto a lovely garden are very quiet and if you only need to use the back bedroom, then noise should not be an issue. (in the interest of being fair, we were at Novella House over New Year's Eve and would have expected extra noise that night..which there was...but our noise comments are about the entire stay - the street in front is like a canyon and funnels & amplifies typical street noise) We solved problem by moving beds into dining room so all of us slept in the back.
In summation: if urban noise not an issue for you, Novella House is a good, spacious, close to landmarks, close to train station choice for your Firenze vacation.
Overall is good. Just that most of the items are old. Location wise is good.

About the Host, Francesco
