Escape to the soothing world of Valle Dolce Lodge, where coastal charm meets romantic seclusion in a lush green valley. Looking for a truly unique experience? Then this is your perfect hidden sanctuary. Nestled on the edge of our olive grove, surrounded by vineyards, the self-sufficient lodge offers tranquility and views up to the sea. Step outside and find your private showerroom, spa and outdoor kitchen.
A 13' drive will take you to the renowned Trabocchi Coast and just 20' into Vasto town.

The space
Valle Dolce, a name resonating with both the location on a gentle slope and the allure of a sweet valley (we have many fruittrees on our estate); it also represents our vision for your experience: an invitation to savor the art of idleness within our fruitfull haven, soaking up the environment.
As there is only one lodge, enough distance to our house (where we live) and any neighbours are far away, there is lots of privacy.
The very spacious (30m2) and high lodge (4 m at ridge ht) is one-of-a-kind and built on a wooden platform that includes a terrace to overlook the valley; the perfect spot to have breakfast in the sun, roll out your yoga mat or gaze at the stars at night!
The suite with unique, ecclectic interior is quite comfortably furnished for 2 persons and combines the advantages of a self-sufficient "studio" with the experience of a luxury safari in the outdoors (you might even spot some wild boars….).
There is a quality king size bed (180 x 200 cm) with deluxe bed linens (on request we can provide single duvets if you are using the bed as 2 singles).
Inside is a pantry with a wash basin, mini fridge, etc. and a walk-in space at the back with mirror, clothrail and hooks, which serves as a wardrobe and storage room for bags and suitcases.
The sitting area has a dining table with chairs and a comfortable lounge sofa to crash on, which doubles as an extra bed (single matras of 80 x 190 cm).
Since you'll be staying in a tent made of cotton in the outdoors with usually a gentle breeze blowing from sea, the atmosphere is mostly quite comfortable at night, also when it's hot. A ventilator is available though.
In spring and autumn an electrical heater is provided in the lodge as well as electric under blankets, when necessary (rarely).
Outside, a few steps from the tent you’ll find your private, semi-outdoor- bathroom with (normal) toilet and shower, plus the cherry on top: a spa/jacuzzi for your personal use.
There you will also find the outdoor kitchen, with double cooking plate and Weber BBQ. So cook your own meal if your prefer not to leave this tranquil valley, lots of fresh herbs around to savor your dishes.... But in tune with doing sweet nothing, you may as well soak up the local cuisine and atmosphere of the plentiful nearby restaurants, or the buzz of Vasto- town.
Breakfast service can be provided upon request.

Guest access
Besides the lodge and it's terrace, guests are welcome to use the surrounding area of the orchard /vineyard and pick the perfect spot for the lounge chairs, use a hammock or lunch at the table in the shade of the big apricot tree. You may also pick and eat the ripe fruits off the trees, after all, this is "Valle Dolce", the land of plenty! Just respect our privacy and peace as we do yours.
Should you need to do some washing, you are welcome to use our machine, as we want you to look splendid upon your passeggiata in Vasto or at il viale lungo il mare....Forgot your beach towel? No problem, we can provide it. Are you used to doing yoga or work-outs at home? You can continue that on the platform and in the yard; plenty of heavy stones around to lift, or doing steps - up and down, up and down....

Other things to note
We love kids, so get in touch if you do want to come with 1 or 2 kids in the ages of 2-12, despite missing facilities, so we can discuss if it will work out or not.

Our very friendly dog, Pleun, is a free-roamer, the valley is her backgarden (unless she is in a lazy mood, which is quite often....) and there are no fences around our land. She has found us herself as her loving new owners, therefor she is very picky on strange dogs entering her property and defends her rights. Her fiancée Freddy, a good chap, is most often around as well and there is the old cat Piera, enjoying her pension. So, though we clearly love animals, this is the reason we cannot except our guests to take their pets, as in that case we cannot guarantee the smooth and idyllic stay we want our guests to have.
Expect bird- and chicade concerts though, they even organize nightly festivals, directed by the Otus Scops (pygmy owl)...

Neighborhood highlights

Valle Dolce is set in the middle of wine-country. The drive up via a 800m long dirt road off the main road leads you through the vineyards that mainly produce the famous Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wine. Our very private location on a hill in a wide valley offers the scenery of a patchwork of agricultural fields (vines, groves and grains), with the sea in the distance. On our own land of 1 hectare we have some 100 olive trees, plus more than 15 different kinds of fruit trees, all organic and much appreciated by birds, bees and fireflies….
Farmers work on the land, creating a constant buzz and livelihood, yet the ambience is one of peace, chirping birds and clearlit skies at night.
This rural setting goes hand-in-hand with the proximity of the E55 motorway for easy access, as well as the Adriatic sea and the Costa dei Trabocchi at your doorstep. Just 10' to the nearest beach, with many others to choose from around the corner, some of them Blue flag (Abruzzo has 14 in total!). Quiet ones located in protected areas like the nature reserve of Punta Aderci/Penne, or the ones with lively lido’s for the ultimate Italian beach experience.
Pollutri is at 7’, the splendid town of Vasto at 18’ and many other towns as well as typical hill-top villages set in the beautiful Abruzzese landscape are within easy reach. This still little known region is a gem for those seeking Italian authenticity; who want to indulge in culture, food and wine one day and be active outdoors the other, or just take in the fresh air and unwind.
Biking here has become increasingly popular and not just due to the coastal bike path that runs along most of this part of the Adriatic (with bikes to rent at several locations). Want to make a day trip to the Maiella Mountains or one of the other natural reserves in the Apennines? Within a 1-1,5 hour drive there are multiple trails, caves, waterfalls or castles to experience, with the bonus of spectacular views. We can help you with any information you may need. Having a car at your disposal is highly recommended to fully benefit all this region has to offer.

A new adventure in life...based on a slower and more sustainable way of living, that's what a fashion designer and entrepreneur wanted after years of running international fashion labels. We switched our home country the Netherlands for our beloved Italy and found our green heaven in beautiful but relatively unknown Abruzzo. Continuing what we've always done: creating and making whatever we can ourselves, upcycling or recycling, always with an esthetic eye. We live of the fruits of our land, but we also support the local community. We love to host guests, share our little paradise and thus meeting interesting people.
