Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Looking for a romantic hide-away? Do you LOVE nature? Then the Screamin' Bear Cabin is the place to be. Just a 10-to-12-minute drive (4 miles) into downtown Clayton, you can enjoy unique shops and places to eat as well as nearby wineries, a distillery, a brewery and 2 speak-easy bars! Nearby hiking, fishing, white water rafting, scenic drives, and more. Or stay at the cabin and enjoy the hot tub and fire pit. North Georga is an adventure waiting for you!

The space
The cabin is very open concept. We went a little bear-diculous with décor, but it is a cabin in the woods!

When you walk in the front door, you will find a cozy living room with plenty of seating for 2 to 4 people in front of the gas fireplace. The living room is open to both the dining area and kitchen, so no one is left out of the fun. The kitchen is very inviting with new stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops. The kitchen has all the things you would need and expect. The master bedroom is on the first floor, just off the living room, with a very comfortable Queen bed. There are night stands with drawers, as well as a closet and luggage racks.

Upstairs in the large loft area, you will find the second bed with another comfortable Queen bed, as well as a game room. The upstairs is a loft, so the bed area and the game room are open to the downstairs Living room. There is not closet upstairs, but there are luggage racks at the end of the bed.

If you are here on a rainy day, don't worry - you can play some shuffle board, grab one of many books to read, or play some of the board games.

(** The staircase feels steep, not so much on the way up, more so when coming down. Please use the staircase with caution, use the hand rail. DO NOT RUN on stairs. I would not attempt them if you are intoxicated. I do not recommend this area of the cabin, or the cabin itself if you have mobility issues, your party has children under the age of 12, or elderly guests with issues navigating stairs. **)

From, the kitchen, you can access the back porch which is set up for outdoor dining with a table/chairs for 4. And just a few steps away on the back deck, you can enjoy a soak in the hot tub under the stars.

There is a front deck with a small table and chairs, rustic rocking chairs and beautiful views with stair access to the firepit which has Klondike chairs for up to 4.

There are no window coverings l, as shown in the pictures, in this home except for the bathroom. It's is a secluded home surrounded by trees and shrubbery.

During the summer and fall the trees provide a real feeling of being secluded, during the fall you get to the the changing color up close, and during the end of fall, winter, and through late April you get a mountain view!

The only additional charges will be the Service Fee that is charged by Airbnb, and the Occupancy Taxes that are required of all motels, hotels and short term rentals required by the State of Georgia and Rabun County, and the City of Clayton.

Access to the cabin is pretty simple as the roads on Screamer mountain are black top. However, the last 1/2 mile is a gravel road. It can look a little rough at times, but any car should be able to make the drive (my 75 year old mother has driven her Toyota Camry to the house without issue). We, and the neighbors, work to maintain the road, but heavy storms can create pot holes from time to time.

The roads on Screamer mountain tend to be narrow, and some are one-lane roads. So, be cautious and courteous. You may have to pull to the side of the road to allow oncoming traffic the right away - you may have to pull into a driveway to let someone go by. Always pay attention to your surroundings so you know where you can pull over to let someone by. You may even need to back-up, in order to get over. Don't get frustrated or panic - everyone is really nice, and like I said - be courteous and cautious and you will be fine. Mountain edicate is that the people coming down have the right away, as it is more difficult to back-up the hill than down the hill.

Neighborhood highlights

Located just 4 miles from downtown Clayton, this cabin sits on the mountain side of Screamer Mountain. It is not in your typical neighborhood setting, but you still will have neighbors. The house is nestled in the woods, and part of the year it is very secluded, however, you still need to watch your noise level - as noise carries on the mountain side.
