About this listing
Private studio on a wooded lot in the mountains of Colorado. Nearby to town and many outdoor activities.
Please carefully read the property description, and read and understand all terms and conditions (listed under House Rules) before submitting your reservation. I'm not always able to accommodate last-minute requests, but I will always try.
Our accommodation is a mother-in-law studio attached to our house but with a separate entrance. Includes ONE double-size bed to sleep 2 people; private bathroom with shower; mini refrigerator, convection oven, microwave, one plug-in burner, tea pot, coffee-maker, kitchenware; wi-fi available. **Must be able to climb steep stairs to access.** You will feel as though you are in a tree house! Pine forest on all sides. Please note this is a self-catering unit. And no TV. (books + games, yes)
Odds of seeing wildlife in the yard any time of year are good but never guaranteed. Early summer is a great time to see wildflowers. Autumn is beautiful with the golden aspen leaves.
We are a 10 minute drive to Eldora ski resort, about 15 minutes to trailheads to hike in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, and walking distance to the Mud Lake trail system. There are many restaurants in town. We are 30 minutes from Boulder; 1 hour from Denver. Bus service to town from Boulder and Denver; we can most likely pick you up at the park-n-ride if come by bus.
We have cats but they do not hang out inside the apartment. If you have severe allergies, though, please consider there are cats on the premises.
Stay in touch on social media! "Like" us on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)! @ "Cozy and Quiet B&B in Nederland" for occasional updates and more photos from the area. Plus an interview with me about the hosting experience. :)
Interaction with Guests
We can leave you alone to enjoy the cozy peaceful environment, or break out the beer and have a proper chat ... however you prefer.
Other Things to Note
2014 updates! If you've stayed here before, you will now notice some updates: brand new mattress, new screen door, new flooring in kitchen area, and new shower doors!
My no pets policy is a blanket policy, nothing personal. I get several requests each year for me to please overlook it and make them an exception. If I do, then next thing you know I basically allow pets. I love pets, but it's important that all guests including ones with allergies to pet hair are comfortable inside the studio. I'm sure all your pets are awesome, but please don't ask me to make exceptions to my rule.
No tobacco. No pets. Please wash own dishes ... sorry there is no dishwasher, hand-wash only.
Will provide wi-fi password upon check-in.
Note that cell phone reception is NOT guaranteed in Nederland. Please do not rely on a cell phone to navigate directions to our house. Upon your reservation if you tell me from where you will be coming (Boulder, Estes, etc.) I can send you detailed directions including landmarks, if you like.
Please check in at front door. Directions will be left for you there if we have stepped out.
Note that all beverages and food in fridge and cupboards upon your arrival are free for your consumption if you wish. Do let me know if you find dishes that haven't been properly scrubbed and I'll take care of it. Or any other issues.
If you are visiting us from a low altitude, be sure to drink lots of water to avoid altitude sickness!
Please DO NOT attempt driveway in snow unless your vehicle is 4WD or AWD with supreme snow tires (pretty much, that means studs). Seriously: please. If your vehicle cannot make it up the driveway there is a wooden walkway from the culdesac at bottom of driveway. We can shuttle your luggage up for you in our car.
Snow salt is provided for stairs, but we aren't always able to keep them shoveled. Please understand this risk, and that by making your reservation you accept all risks of personal injury and vehicle damage inherent in snowy conditions. Remember, we live in the mountains!
Notes about winter conditions: Please be aware that Nederland is notoriously windy in the winter. There's no way for me to accurately predict the weather for you, so just be aware that when you make a reservation with us in the winter, you are accepting the risk of severe weather ( esp. wind!). If you have an uncomfortable night in the wind here, trust me: so did we and so did everyone else in town. It's just the inherent nature/risk of living in our beautiful mountain environment. I do my best to make the studio nice but I can't be held responsible for poor weather. Many winter days, though, are completely lovely.
