This cute cabana is located in a quiet and green part of the island Caye Caulker. It's a brand new (built in 2012) simple cabana but still has all the comforts you need for your holidays. It is situated in a big fenced in yard full with tropical flowers, plants and trees with lots of privacy. The village, with all the restaurants, shops, supermarkets, dive-/snorkel tour operators is a 10 minute walk/5 minute bike ride away. The sea and beach are a 3 minute walk away. Two bicycles are complimentary so it's easy to explore the island and bike you're way around.
The cabana is a studio-like house, built on posts about 10 feet above the ground. This means more breeze, better views, less bugs, a shady place under the house and dry feet during a tropical shower. There is one queen bed and a futon couch, which folded out sleeps 2, so it fits a maximum of 4 people. There's a small kitchen with stove/oven, fridge, coffee machine, blender, toaster and all the necessary utensils. Also a private bathroom, TV, wireless Internet and a veranda with a beautiful view over the area. In the yard are several shady seating areas with beach chairs and hammocks. There's also a grill in the yard on which you can grill your own caught fish or lobster.
If you have enough of the diving, snorkeling, fishing, swimming or other activities you can entertain yourself with a small library, a selection of board- and card games, cable TV and wireless Internet. Or just hang out on the veranda with a cold beer or some Caribbean rum.
As your host I can help you with finding your way on the island, booking various trips or just leave you alone and let you enjoy the 'go slow' mentality of Caye Caulker.
There are special weekly and monthly rates and in the slow season (September -October) prices are lower. This cabana is perfect for a short or longer relaxing stay. Prices are based on rental periods up to 3 months, if you want to stay longer, ask for the special rates.
Also check my other listings on Caye Caulker: the COZY CABANA and the CARIBBEAN GUEST HOUSE. They are located in the backyard of our restaurant, Wish Willy Bar & Grill, one of the most popular and unique restaurants of the island (on the North side of Caye Caulker, close to 'the split'.)
I was there for two months and enjoyed my stay in the cabana and Caye Caulker. Especially liked the quiet area and peaceful surroundings. I did not use the bicycles, but instead walked everywhere to experience the island. From the cabana to the split is about a half hour walk (going slow) and in my opinion is the best way to get around. I planted some tomatoes from seed in the yard and they need some fertilizer!! So I hope future guests can nurture these plants and eventually enjoy the fruit!! That is if the Iguanas do not get to them.
Monique and Maurice were great hosts and always very helpful!
Well, what can I say. Everything good people wrote before is just true. Great relaxing place, clean, perfectly well equipped. There's everything you could possibly need. Monique provides you with a lot of useful information. And the bikes make you very independent and are actually the best way to get around. Book it and don't forget to bring the mosquito repellent to enjoy the veranda.
Unfortunately I was not able to enter Belize on the planned day for travel as my daughter did not have the required papers. I communicated with Monique and explained the extraordinary situation and she was ever so kind to give me a partial refund although this is not normally her cancellation policy, which I truly appreciated.
Monique and Maurice are great people who instantly help to make oneself feels at home. Many services were provided. Thanks again Monique.
Great place to stay while on the island. Very private feeling even though there are neighbors close-by. Monique gave us everything we needed (water, towels, bikes, HBO for when it rained). With the bikes, it's just a 15 minute ride from the house all the way to the other end of the island, so getting around is a breeze and rather adventurous when there are street-wide rain puddles about. There's a laundromat pretty close, though we never had to use it. Wi-Fi wasn't fast enough for Netflix (it did actually rain a lot while we were there), but it's still really helpful if you need to just keep up on email or whatever. It's actually the perfect speed to keep you off the internet and enjoying the island. (Ask at Ragammufin for Ally - great kayak tour around the island.) We would definitely stay here again on return visits. Oh, and definitely go to Wish Willy (Monique and her husband Maurice's restaurant). It was probably the best meal we had, though we never had a bad one.
Monique and Maurice are great hosts. The sunny Cabana was exactly as described with a massive yard to boot. It was a very nice quiet area away from the main road with all the amenities of home. Just remember to bring your bug spray to combat the Sand flies at night. Also, Wish Willy was by far the best dinning we had on the island, lobster for days. And if you end up going fishing, Maurice is more then happy to cook it for you that night. We will definitely be returning to Sunny Cabana in the future. Thanks again M&M for the wonderful experience.
The rental was clean and as pictured. We rented this cabin for 5 nights, and after 2 days of rain and wind we decided to leave early.
We had a great stay in this cabana. We received a warm welcome from both Monique and Maurice who were very friendly and easy going.
The cabana itself was exactly as advertised. We slept comfortably at night and had everything we needed. It was located only a short walk from front street.
If we find ourselves back in Belize we'll definitely try and stay in the sunny cabana again and recommend this place to any traveller.
This is a great place to stay at! It's very quiet and the free bicycles make it easy to get to the center of town. Monique is a wonderful hostess.
Beautiful cabana and Monique was a great host. Looking forward to visiting Caye Caulker again soon!
