Tons of parking, bikes, 10 mi bike trail, private & serene. Lots of local tips provided, and BEAUTIFUL beach right out front! Perfect for 1 large family or 2 small families with 2 bedrooms/bath/living area on each floor. Come and make memories!

The space
SunChaser is on a barrier island in the town of Emerald Isle NC. The area is also known as the Southern Outer Banks and The Crystal Coast, named Best N.C. Beach by Southern Living 5/2024 and the same publication also did a story on EI saying it has the “clearest water and whitest sand” in NC in their 2/2025 edition. The home is one of the few cottages on the island with both ocean and sound views; it has the easiest access to the beach of any 2nd row house on the island! Cool, fun, and VERY authentic beach cottage. Mix of 50 year old locally sourced, hand milled pine floors, modern kitchen and electronics, and fun bright colors. Just 30 steps from the property line to the dune! Built by one of the owner's cousins in 1968. This is a second home and place of solitude for my family and yours!! Pick up the 10+ mile bike trail adjacent to the property and enjoy on the bikes provided (ride down to the legendary Big Oak Drive Inn for shrimpburgers, then stop at Albert’s for ice cream on the way back :-) or just spend your days strolling the beautiful NC beaches! SunChaser is ready for you! You'll arrive to cool drinks in the fridge, beds freshly made, and all the essentials laid out and ready for you!

Roomy 4 bedroom home with game room, office, HDTVs and digital cable, ocean view decks, ocean view and sound view patios. Easy to use electronic push button lock with custom door code for entry - and no keys to keep up with on the beach! Flip flop themed game room has foosball, a full sized Multi-Cade Arcade game, HD TV and Blu-ray, 50+ movie library, comfy leather couches, and a grill ready for you right outside in the ocean breeze! Plenty of private off street parking, public boat ramp down the street, great kayaking on the sound available for rent, a skate park not far away - and, of course the gorgeous and private NC beach just steps from the property. Great bike riding on quiet street (Ocean Blvd) or on paved bike trail that runs more than 10 miles! Two adult bikes and three children's bikes are in the house for use. Easy access to the island with bridges on the East and West ends of the islands (arrive via NC Hwy 70 or NC Hwy 58).

Important Note: In booking this cottage guest agrees they are booking it for themselves / their use and guest agrees they will be on site for the full term of the leasing agreement.
Other Features: Rare cottage being 2nd row from the ocean AND the sound. Views from the sound from the kitchen and 2 bedrooms on one side, views of the ocean from the other side. Split floor plan to make it easy for 2 small families to share (2 bedrooms, bath, living area on each floor). Pack & Play Crib provided, foosball and full sized Multi-Cade Arcade game in game room, bikes ready for your use. Don't miss seeing the Cape Lookout Lighthouse light flash off in the distance (look at 10:00 to the left!) when you're on the beach at night! Truly a second home - owner resides there more than 60 days per year (and host has been hosting guests at SunChaser since 2004) - so lots of extras! From not-often-used kitchen utensils to band aids we do our best to make it a great vacation for our guests!

Neighborhood highlights

It's the perfect picture of a quiet NC beach....if you love the beach and long for peace and quiet this place is for you! This area is all single family homes, nice people, and very quiet - no hotels or condos within a half mile! We've owned the place for more than 18 years and love it there. My family has had a place there for 40 years and has lived in the area for 250 years. Nice neighbors, great restaurants (including the legendary Big Oak Drive In) just a few minutes away in either direction, a pizza/craft brew restaurant a short mile away, friendly people. Local fun things to do include a nice putt putt facility, skate park, etc all within a few minutes drive. In area once bounded to the east by a fishing village (Morehead) and to the west by a whaling village (Swansboro/Bear Island). It was under the rule of Lord Tryon (visit his palace 45 min away) until the American Revolution. And of course being watched by Blackbeard the pirate as he trolled this area around to Beaufort and surrounding islands. Nearby (1 mile away) Salter Path - known as THE seafood destination since the 1950's - was settled in the early 1800's and folks made their way to Emerald Isle in the early 1960's. Enjoy our fun cottage, beautiful beaches, nearby historic sites / recreation, and great southern hospitality everywhere you go. Privacy, history, fun, and convenience to make your next unforgettable experience!
